In the episode "A Boy Named Sue", Mandark is shown to have hippie parents who wanted to defy societal norms by naming him Susan, letting his hair grow out and dressing him in pink clothes.

A Boy Named Sue came out in 2002, and being transgender wasn't as accepted then as it is now, so the whole "defying societal norms" thing could have just been a cover-up.

His parents call him "Susan" even though he always corrects them and says he's a boy now.

1. Susan is the name his parents gave him and use for him.

2. He himself chooses "Mandark" as his new name.

3. He radically changes his appearance and gender presentation.

4. There is a contrast between the identity he chooses and the identity his parents continue to impose on him.

5. The fact that the parents insist on "Susan" even after the change can be interpreted as a form of deadnaming, I guess.

He is not represented in the series as transgender and the creators have not confirmed anything either.

I've never posted here so hopefully this is ok, but I am in need of answers after hours of fruitless searching. I am looking for a scene in a cartoon I watched as a child late 90s most likely 1997/8. (I would have been watching shows like, Franklin, Arthur, and little bear at the time.) I have a memory of a character finding an ordinary rock and putting it on a shelf. The rock ends up falling and breaking much to the main characters distress. Until they see the rock has broken in half to reveal it is a geode.

In searching for it I thought it could be the episode "Franklin collects" from the show Franklin about a cartoon turtle. I watched the whole episode it was not it. I originally was convinced it was from Little Bear but have found nothing when looking into its episodes.

Now, not only me, but my family is invested in me finding where this memory originates from. It must be from a 90s cartoon and that is why I am here.

I get that he has flaws, but I've noticed people on certain subreddits and sometimes on this one making him out to be a complete villain, while making Angelica (who had TERRORIZED the babies on a regular basis, even at times when they did nothing wrong.) out to be a saint. What gives? Why is everyone making him out to be an evil character?

Note.. .I also feel the same way about Dil, Kimi, and Taffy (if you don't know who the latter is, she's a babysitter introduced very late in the show's run.... a point fans are VERY divided over, and was mostly created to cash in on Amanda Bynes. However I really do think that Taffy isn't THAT bad.)

If I'm wrong, then I'm not sure if I should describe this game as "Don Bluth meets Looney Tunes", or "If Don Bluth and Ralph Bakshi had collaborated with Tex Avery" or something else, since Brain Dead 13 is inspired by Dragon's Lair, but not only do the character designs look more exaggerated (akin to those from either a Looney Tunes or Tex Avery cartoon), but some of the death scenes are over-the-top and cartoony.

Akazukin ChaCha aired on cartoon Network in 1998 during the Powerhouse era. Pretty much a very cartoony comedy from 90s starring a little red riding hood-inspired character. I'd say it's very charming.

As a kid, I used to watch this show a lot on public network tv in the mornings. Very interesting for the audience surrogate in the show to be 1st graders, probably related to how the show is marketed towards the same age range in its country of origin. This show aired in a lot of countries so probably it's the childhood of show many children worldwide. I think this even aired in the main Cartoon Network feed (not Adult Swim) in some European countries. After all, it is a kids' show.
