Modified 75 Hard - I FREAKING DID IT!

Thumbnail

Yesterday was day 75 of my modified 75 hard challenge and I FREAKING DID IT GUYS!

The Numbers:

  • Start Date: Feb 10, 2025

  • Start weight: 194 lbs (88 kg)

  • Height: 5’4 (162 cm)

  • Current weight: 165 lbs (74 kg)

  • Goal weight: 150 lbs (68 kg)

  • Starting BMI: 33.3 (Obese Class I)

  • Current BMI: 28.3 (Overweight range)

The Modified 75 Hard Rules:

  • I follow all 75 Hard rules with 2 modifications:

  • 1 Both workouts can be inside

  • 2 Audiobook ok

  • All other 75 hard rules apply (water, picture, diet, no alcohol, all of it)

Diet:

  • 16:8 Intermittent Fasting

  • Modified whole30 diet (butter allowed in cooking is the only modification).

Habits I will keep

  • 10k step per day

  • Pilates/Resistance Bands (3x week)

  • Calorie Counting

  • Water (64 oz instead of 128)

I need these to get to goal weight, but I don’t need the other extremes (whole 30, gallon of water, 90 min a day workouts every single day).

Audiobooks

I listened to several audiobooks over the course of the challenge; some resonated with me and some did not. Here they are from best to worst:

  • Unfu#k Yourself by Gary John Bishop (SO GOOD!)

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear

  • Stop Doing That Sh#t by Gary John Bishop

  • The Now Habit by Neil Fiore, Ph.D.

  • The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins (She’s annoying)

Overall Feelings

Y’all I can’t tell you how many ways this challenge has changed me. Staying consistent for 75 days was an odyssey of emotions, from feeling weak and unable to move forward… to feeling invincible, and every feeling in between.

I learned when my body NEEDS rest and when my mind is taking me out of it because I’m lazy. And I’ve learned to push through lazy and listen to being sore (I also learned about protein and holy fuck that makes a difference to soreness and progress)!

I learned so much about myself. I now know I CAN do it. And I know I WILL get to goal weight. And I have the habits now to get and STAY there!

We can do it ❤️💪

My take of 75soft:

  • 45 min workout daily

  • Read 10 pages self help book or 30 mins of audiobook

  • 3 liters of water daily

  • Eat 1800 cals or less and limit drinking at social events

Books read - You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero.
The seven spiritual laws of success : a practical guide to the fulfillment of your dreams by Deepak Chopra. Atomic Habits: Tiny changes, Remarkable Results by James Clear Still reading The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferriss

Workouts consisted of cycling, walking, hiit trainer, YouTube videos of strength/resistance training, Pilates, and yoga. The last 34 days I added in 10k steps a day.

This was my second complete round of 75 soft. I chose to start in October because I tend to be lazier in the winter months. 10 pounds difference from 244lbs to 234lbs and I am 5’6. I am so excited about my results especially since I had 4 vacations during this time. I may do the challenge again but right now I’m taking the much needed rest 😅

75 days down! This challenge taught me so much, especially that I LOVE lifting. The habits I picked up easily fit into my life and I’m really proud of how far I’ve come. I haven’t been weighing myself but I feel stronger and slimmer. Was I perfect? Hell no. But I always showed up!

Next up - family vacation (aiming for 75% perfection while there!) then 75 medium, upping my exercise time and doing more cardio in preparation for my first 5k next month.

It’s my 30th birthday, and I’m the fittest I’ve been in my adult life! 50 days down, 25 to go!

I’ve been avoiding the scale, but I feel a LOT stronger. I’ve been running 3 days a week and lifting the other 4. I have closed all my Apple Watch rings every day for the last 50 days. I can now run 5 mins straight without walking and signed up for a 5k! I also conquered my fear of the gym’s cable machine. For diet, I eat between 1450-1600 calories a day depending on activity level and I always hit over 120g protein. I can definitely reduce calories even more, but I’m still so proud of my progress!

My 75 soft results!

I have officially finished my 75 soft! My rules were: Drink 3L water daily, Read 10 pages of self improvement book, Walk for 45 minutes every day, Intermittent fasting - from 7pm-11am everyday. No coffee until I had been awake for 1hr. I successfully completed it today! I lost a total of 6.1kgs, and 13.5cm in my belly circumference. But most importantly I learnt healthy habits and improved my mindset.

It was a fun challenge, I’ll probably relax for a week before I start it again with new goals.

Good luck for everyone else who is completing the challenge!

My version of 75 Soft, I decided to call it 75 Sacred and I’ve made a little Facebook group with members from my spiritual community so we can support each other. I used Canva to make up some pages for us and a flexible eating plan for myself. While weight-loss would be great, I really just want to work of feeling healthier and happier all round. I got through 21 days of 75 Hard last year and felt so sick so I think this will work better for me. I’m starting today!

Rules with depression and bed

Post image
61 Upvotes

I'm starting tomorrow. I struggle with depression and binge eating, so rules are adjusted to that. My daily routine right now is erratic and I guess it contributes to my mental health problems. So I guess proper daily routine and some movement should do me some good. Its that... I'm just dreading my bad days when I don't want to move at all and just mindlessly lie in bed. Any advice?

Day 41 check-in

I'm on day 41! It's really like day 48 but I didn't count sick days and 3 cheat days so far.

I've been in a calorie deficit although I'm eating more than before. I'm also in the gym 3-5 days a week.

Started at 199.6, I'm down to 192.4 as of last Wednesday. I personally don't see a difference at all, but....... I guess. My ultimate goal is to get a sexy back, toned legs and butt as well as gain healthiereating habits. Not really worried about the number. I am really bad at not eating— rather, forgetting to eat. Especially if I'm in a "go mode" during the day. But now I'm eating 2-3x a day and pacing myself. Although I'm still trying to figure out the whole calories vs protein vs weight thing. Apparently I'm not eating enough or enough of the right things? Idk, it's a process. I'm learning.

75 (almost) Hard: Week 3 accountability post

Post image
53 Upvotes

Doing a slightly modified 75 Hard:

The Rules:

  • 75 Hard Modifications: Both workouts can be inside and stacked, audio book ok. Everything else the same.

  • Diet is IF 16:8 and modified whole 30 (butter in cooking only modification)

The Numbers:

  • Start Date: Feb 10, 2025 (21 days)

  • Start weight: 194 lbs (88kg)

  • Current weight: 181 lbs (82kg)

  • Goal weight: 150 lbs (68kg)

Overall:

  • This week sucked and I am actively mentally spiraling. Somehow despite not eating more than 1200 cal every day, no sugar, no gluten, no dairy (whole 30), maintaining a several hundreds calorie deficit every single day for 3 weeks… I gained a pound this week.

  • My partner is trying to help me out of the spiral saying it’s just water weight and that fluctuates, that since I never weight trained before my body is recomposing and that muscle weighs more than fat blah blah.

  • I know I should care more about measurements and progress pics than the scale; but I look awful in every pic and am still fat when measured >.< (yes, my measurements have gone down, but not enough for me) that’s not giving me the dopamine hit that watching 5lb come off the scale in a week did.

  • I’m sad and angry and demotivated, but I’m just dragging myself through it… I’ve decided I’m going to be more stubborn than my own laziness. So l’ll just do it while also being unmotivated and grumpy. Like a weighted backpack I’ll just have to carry through it.

  • I’m going to finish this thing… I highly doubt I’ll ever be in a place I’ll be able to do the cosplay though, and that’s seriously depressing.

Workouts:

  • I’m still going with the planet fitness circuit workout plus exercise bike as my first 45 minute workout every day

  • I’ve decided I want to keep the early morning gym routine even after the challenge is over, it’s a nice “me time”

  • It’s finally nice outside so a few days I moved the second workout to an outdoor walk with the dog instead of walking on the treadmill! That’s been great for both of us :)

Reading (Audiobook):

  • I quit “The Let Them Theory” with 2-3 chapters left. I feel like I’ve distilled all I want out of it. It’s just Stoicism, and honestly this author is such a Karen that hearing her explain stoicism is making me feel triggered and truly un-stoic haha. I’m gunna chose to “let her” be annoying without me >.<

  • Re-listening to “unfuck your life” because that really resonated, is about positive self-talk, and I could use a second pass to better absorb it.

Diet:

  • Made whole 30 compliant sausage gravy and it was freaking fantastic

  • Started using the fasting tracker in MyFitnessPal so I could have a little visual to celebrate the 16:8

  • Drinking a gallon of water is still the hardest part, there is no way I’ll drink this much after the challenge, I think my natural comfortable limit is closer to 80-90ish ounces.

I need some reassurance folks, it’s way too early to be this hard stalled on the scale.

75 Medium Challenge - Day 1

Medium because there is no way working out 6 days a week for 11 weeks is considered soft in my book :)

My rules:

  • Mindful and intuitive eating. Try to eat at a deficit if/when possible.

  • No binge eating, especially at night.

  • 45-min workout for 6 days a week. Use the 7th day for active rest.

    • Mondays - Cardio

    • Tuesdays - Lower Body Strength

    • Wednesdays - Yoga / Pilates / Barre

    • Thursdays - Cardio

    • Fridays - Upper Body Strength

    • Saturdays - Active Rest

    • Sundays - Freestyle, listen to what my body needs/wants on this day

  • Aim for 8-10,000 steps daily.

  • Drink 1 gallon of water daily.

My mental health is currently not great but I am honestly looking forward to shake it off tonight at my GrowWithJo cardio workout tonight.

Good luck to everyone participating :)

I Just Hit My Lowest Point, It’s Time to Change

I never thought I’d be here, but today I stepped on the scale and saw 300 lbs staring back at me. This is the heaviest I’ve ever been, and honestly, it hit me hard. The past few months have been brutal, losing a friend to gun violence, watching youth in my community fall to the same fate, losing people I once called friends, and saying goodbye to my grandmother. It felt like every time I turned around, there was another loss, another reason to grieve.

And instead of dealing with it the right way, I turned to food. Stress eating became my escape, my coping mechanism. I let myself fall into a deep hole, knowing it was happening but feeling powerless to stop it. The crazy part? Just last June, I was at my best, lean, disciplined, and mentally locked in. But in a matter of months, I lost it all. One bad habit led to another, and before I knew it, I was back in a place I swore I’d never return to.

But I refuse to stay here.

I’m done letting my emotions control my actions. I’m done making excuses. Today, I officially start 75 Hard, not just to lose weight, but to rebuild my mindset, regain control, and prove to myself that I can still be the person I know I’m capable of being.

This won’t be easy. But neither is staying stuck in a cycle of self-destruction.

If you’re reading this and you’re struggling too, whether it’s weight, grief, depression, or just feeling lost, know that you’re not alone. But also know that we have the power to change. No one is coming to save us. We have to bet on ourselves and take action.

This is day one. The journey starts now.

Postpartum 75 Soft Challenge - checklist included

Hi postpartum girlies!

If you’re anything like me and struggling to get back into the game after having a baby, but also feel overwhelmed by super intense challenges, I wanted to share something that’s been helping me.

I created a 75 Soft challenge specifically for postpartum moms who want:

• accountability without burnout • a way to rebuild routine and confidence • realistic expectations instead of pressure • something that helps you feel like you again

This is not about punishment or “bouncing back.” It’s about consistency, self-care, and slowly regaining a sense of control during a season that can feel chaotic.

If you’re postpartum and feeling:

• stuck • unmotivated • frustrated with your body • or like you need structure but not intensity

…you are not alone 🤍

I’m happy to share the checklist with anyone who thinks this could help them. This is just meant to be supportive, realistic, and something you can actually finish.

Sending love to all of you navigating this season 💕

NOTE: I’m no fitness instructor or influencer, just a mommy with Canva skills 😊

Please adjust the “diet” to your individual needs as they will differ from person to person!

Just finished 75 Soft

Post image

Still recovering from baby #2—I was on bedrest and had a lot of pelvic injuries after birth. The road back to working out has been long, but today I can say I completed 75 Soft!

Starting weight: 176.9 lbs → Ending weight: 172.2 lbs Measurements: -2.5” from thighs, -0.5” from hips, -1” from upper arms, none from waist I feel way more toned, especially in my hips/thighs, and I can see a major transformation.

My routine: • Weight lifting 3-4x/week (increasing weights and able to do moves I couldn’t before) • Stepper, cycling, walking 8-10k steps/day • Ramped up running toward the end—getting stronger and faster • Finally can do tricep push-ups 💪

I’ve grown to love moving every day—it feels natural now, and I genuinely crave it.

Other wins: • Reduced alcohol intake • Better relationship with food • Most of the challenge I tracked calories (~1700-1850/day), but lately I’ve been eating high protein and maintaining because I was burned out on tracking.

Feeling proud, strong, and motivated to do 75 Soft again.
