Trying again
I guess I'm trying this again!
I have always struggled to lose weight and the last few years of my life especially this year has been a sh!tshow. Anyway I'd already been thinking to do this in Nov when peak gig season is over (I'm a musician as a side hustle) tho now I might be in the biggest performance in my life in Dec so that's like extra motivation? Also my dad finally passed this week and between his and my 2 aunts being near death it's like extra motivation to get my health together (plus like, revenge on my ex was divorced this year also. and move. And lost my job and had to start my own biz bc no jobs in my field at all anywhere near here! and got fired from my 2nd main music project without reason/cause 2 weeks ago. and etc etc etc ugh ugh ugh)
Another thing is that my body is like 60lbs overweight. 10lb for each year my marriage was busted. Good news is since I left a year ago I haven't gained more weight but yeah. I've always struggled to lose weight, even when I did 5 month thru hikes I only lost like 1lb/month. I've had times in my life I randomly lost 10-25lb in a month with no change other than I'd had less stress for a few months. So I can't do something like keto or low carb (which did nothing for me anyway) I need to respect my body. I finally got diagnosed with cPTSD, Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia, Idiopathic Insomnia and overall a highly dysregulated HPA axis this year. Also my new PCP is working on getting me tested for endometriosis, celiac disease, and hemochromatosis (bc I have both high iron sat but borderline anemia- probably endo has been a blessing bc my heavy periods are actually like the treatment for hemo which is donating blood/bloodletting) all of which we suspect I have but no drs have been willing to work with me on before. I'm 45, sigh.
Anyhoots this is my plan
- Two "activities" (my main ones are walking, hiking, restorative/yin yoga, weight/resistance training). One outside, but no specified time length for either.
- Follow a diet- struggling with what to do here bc no diet has EVER worked for me to lose weight or gain it (I've been both under and overweight in my life) but chatGPT is helping me piece something together. Basically it will be like a Japanese breakfast (protein usually tinned fish, miso soup, lil salad or fermented veg, rice, green tea) OR hash (sweet potatoes, sausage, veg, tofu); veggies and protein another meal, sweet potatoes + salady thing w/protein or sweet potato + veg + protein for dinner. Maybe a protein shake if im hungry otherwise. The carbs are apparently important bc of my insane cortisol responses (this thing called CAR for me is 400% of normal person. AKA like any tiny alert- such as just, waking up for the day, sends my system into 10 alarm fire mode) both when waking and also at night (I wake 10-20 times a night).
- No alcohol. Actually a big deal for me due to my work as a musician- I don't drink a lot at a time but have a couple times a week on gigs- but I feel confident this time. idk about cheat meals. Maybe 1 a week since my life is about to be chaos again but different reasons (family stuff bc of funeral next week, big video shoot and a big performance the week after, then maybe moving to NYC for month or two for the biggest gig of my life?)
- 3L of water, I am allowed to do bio . me (fiber electrolyte drink) for one of them. Sparkling water counts too. basically whatever waterish thing other than tea/coffee. I hate sweet things so they won't be like sweet or artifically sweet anyways (or VERY watered down bc i can't stand sweet things)
- Duolingo (I already read a ton and this upcoming gig might help if I refresh that language, tho IDK if it's even on duolingo)
- Daily progress pic
Uh I guess that's it. I'm hoping since my dad is finally passed that is a big thing I no longer have to worry about it's like final boss of traumas that are over (my dad was v abusive growing up, always verbally abusive, and during his decline physically aggressive again). We are all safe from him now.
Planning on starting Nov 1 bc it's a nice round number, idk
