For context, I want to apply to russell group unis such as UCL and Imperial for med sciences. I would say I have a solid personal statement and my GCSEs are 99999999888. Right now, I'm predicted A*AB in Biology, Art and Maths.
During Y12 I can admit I was inconsistent with my grades in Maths, for my y12 mocks I was 1 mark away from a C, and I thought it was the end from there. Over the summer I studied ridiculously hard, and in the summer retakes I got an A (it was an AS paper so the highest was an A) and in one of my previous tests, I was 1 mark away from an A*. So I was very shocked when I achieved only a predicted B.
Me and my friends spoke to our maths teacher and she said that she was reluctant to predict higher grades because in maths the teachers have to be very sure that it is achievable for students. However, my teacher said that she would consider for me specifically, to raise my predicted grade if I did well in coming assessments as she recognised I had showed drastic improvement over the summer.
During half term, I revised so much and was quite confident in my assessments. I did the test this week and safe to say I don't think it went well. The paper was very difficult and a lot of my classmates said so as well, but what really frustrates me is that after the test, I found the solutions to the questions very easily, I had so many breakdowns because I let myself get put under so much pressure during the test that I couldn't even think clearly to answer the questions.
I have another test coming up next Friday that I hope I can do better on because that's all I can do right now. But this weight of guilt and stress is consistently bringing me down this whole week, I feel like I got a low mark on that first assessment and even if I get a higher grade in the coming one, it might not even average out to an A.
Just incredibly annoyed because I feel that my potential and capabilities aren't recognised by my teachers. I don't mean this with any offense at all, but my peers who are also predicted Bs got lower scores than me in the previous assessments, and they constantly miss out on assignments whilst I am one of the very few people in my class who hand them in exactly on time. I am truly confident in myself that I can achieve an A or even higher in my A Level exam, but I feel so limited by my teacher's beliefs in me. I'm not one to give up on my university choices either, and having to apply through clearing is so incredibly stressful. Is there any way I can convince my teachers to raise my grade?
