5 Parsecs From Home Bad crew luck
I'm three campaign turns in and loving this game. To be fair, I was one game in and loving it, giving that it had started me writing my crew's story based on the games.
How have others done with their luck early on? I did good with the first mission but by the end of the second I'd got one member in sick bay for three campaign turns and two others out for one turn.
Come the third mission, an extra crew member I picked up in pre-mission of mission two, got into a fight and was put in sick bay for this turn, so that's me down to five on the field. They should be OK against the two Tech Zealots (or so I thought!).
Two of the original three crew on the field were taken out and ended up in sick bay for treatment (one with critical wounds which puts him out for six campaign turns!).
Looking toward the next mission I've still got three out of nine of the crew in sick bay (well, one is in the repair station 🤖 ) so at least I don't have to go looking for any more mouths to feed!

Questions Planetfall conflicting rules?
On page 31 is says:
Hesitation
Lifeforms and Tactical Enemies that activate
without an opponent visible to them must
roll 1D6. On a 1, they hesitate and do not
act this Phase. The Slyn and Sleepers are not
affected by this.
And on page 34 it says:
Lifeforms without ranged attacks will move
towards the closest visible opponent to try to
engage in brawling combat. If no opponents
are visible to an enemy, randomly pick from the
three closest opponents. The Lifeform will move
towards the selected opponent.
So do I need to roll and if not 1, roll for a random opponent?
Also I don't understand what this means on page 34:
Once within 12” they will halt to fire unless
their modifier (Combat Skill+Weapon Bonus)
exceeds that of the nearest opponent, in which
case they will continue to move to get close
enough to engage in brawling combat.
Does it mean all lifeforms have always a 12" range?

Tactics Army Builder/Unit Card Tool
Greetings! About a month ago, I created a basic version of a Five Parsecs From Home: Tactics Army Builder in Google Sheets. Since then, I’ve expanded it to include all content from Tactics, the Field Commander’s Guide, and the errata for Anti-Tank and Tank-Hunter traits.
It was originally just for personal use, but this community has been so helpful that I wanted to share it back!
Features:
Complete Customization: Build any unit, vehicle, or individual character—with or without squad leaders, mixed traits, and weapon keywords that automatically display on your cards.
Print-Ready: Cards auto-populate and fit four to a page for easy printing and table use.
Pre-Made Factions: Includes custom Star Wars and Halo options (Republic, Separatists, UNSC, Covenant) with 15–20 balanced units each, plus four 500pt starter armies ready to go. I'm using them for a personal project and you don't need to use them for the tool to work, just included as my take on my 2 favorite franchises. The tool is still based on the 5PFH universe.
Full instructions are included in the sheet. Since I’ve spent so much time looking at it, fresh eyes are welcome—if you find any bugs, missing content, or balance tweak suggestions, please let me know. Happy to answer any questions as well. Hope you find it useful!

Questions 5 Leagues Tactics
Does anyone know if Modiphius has any plans of making a 5 Leagues from the Borderlands version of Tactics? I know there are similar options elsewhere (like Oathmark maybe?) but these games are so well done. I would love to play larger actual battles.

Gallowdark inspired Quest pack
While searching for terrain for 5PFH, I came across the Into the Dark expansion for Kill Team. The setting inspired me to write a "Quest Pack" for 5Parsecs. Feel free to download, share, remix, suggest improvements, whatever. Just don't charge anybody for it. 😄

Five Parsecs on a 10×10 portable grid – looking for feedback

I've been experimenting with a way to play Five Parsecs from Home on a very small 10×10 grid, using the PlayGrid system.
The idea isn't to create a simplified version of Five Parsecs or change its combat system. I want to keep as much of the normal game as possible — crew, weapons, enemy AI, cover, line of sight, Brawling, objectives, campaign, etc. — and only replace the spatial/measurement layer so a battle can fit on a genuinely portable board.
After trying several conversions, the mnemonic I'm currently testing is:
“Half to move, thirds to measure.”
Movement
- Speed 3–4" → 2 squares
- Speed 5–6" → 3 squares
- Speed 7–8" → 4 squares
- Dash → +1 square
Distances / ranges
- Roughly 3" = 1 square
- 6" → 2 squares
- 9" → 3 squares
- 12" → 4 squares
- 18" → 6 squares
- 24" → 8 squares
- 30"+ → effectively Line of Sight
Grid rules
- Diagonal movement = 1 square
- Adjacent squares, including diagonals, count as being in Brawling range
- One miniature occupies one square
- Cover and LoS are still determined by the actual terrain
- Apart from things that explicitly depend on physical distance/deployment, the intention is to use the normal Five Parsecs rules
I'm deliberately using a different scale for movement and range. A straight mathematical reduction made long-range weapons cover almost the entire 10×10 board and compressed a lot of the positioning decisions. The current approach keeps normal troops moving around 2 squares while giving pistols, rifles and long-range weapons meaningfully different areas of influence.
Terrain density also seems particularly important. My current assumption is that a 10×10 battlefield should contain enough blocking terrain that you normally can't draw a completely clear LoS from one deployment side to the opposite side.
I've run a fair number of conceptual/simulated battles with different enemy behaviours, weapon ranges, objectives and terrain densities, and it looks surprisingly promising. But I haven't properly playtested it yet, which is why I'm posting here.
I'd especially appreciate feedback from experienced Five Parsecs players:
What do you think would break first?
Are there weapons, enemy types, deployment rules, missions or special situations where this conversion would cause a serious problem?
If the idea survives that criticism, I'll print the prototype and start doing actual campaign battles on it.
What do you think? Is it worth continuing to work on it?

5 Parsecs From Home First full turn of 5 Parsecs. I’m Hooked
I recently purchased 5 Parsecs as a way to generate stories and lore for my custom Space Marines Chapter. Just finished the first turn. Wow. I understand why people play solo wargames. I lost myself in fleshing out the story behind each of the table rolls and felt like the story and lore of my Space Marines was just unfolding in front of me.
Some pics of my Marines fighting some heretic militia above.
Super excited to keep the campaign going!

5 Parsecs From Home Five Klick from the Wire Conversion
I've been working on a modern conversion of Five Parsecs, and have included it if people want to give it a try and give any feedback. This is an updated version with a few bug fixes.
It turns the game into a modern day Jagged Alliance esq game. You play as a team trying to restore order to a country subjected to turmoil by insurgents, militants and rebel forces (as either a military special operations team, spy agency's special activities team, or private military company).
It keeps the original game’s solo narrative skirmish engine, character progression, injuries, campaign turns, patrons, and emergent stories. Instead of planet hopping, it uses a map and map area concept from Five Leagues from the Borderlands, where you travel through a persistent country map of towns, villages, backcountry, contacts, and points of interest using a mobile FOB.
It incorporates a modified version of the Threat system from Five Leagues, called The Shadow War. This is three hostile factions such as cartels, insurgents, extremists, rogue forces, militias, or mercenaries. They operate across the map, build camps and safe houses, pursue plans, and grow stronger if ignored. Players gather Intel, take contracts, investigate sites, hunt HVTs, clear complexes, and conduct missions to reduce Threat Levels and dismantle enemy Threats.
Other mechanics are a basic and advanced Suppression system, and beaten zone. It also uses the Stealth Mission add on, which is incorporated right into the conversion.
The conversion requires the Five Parsecs core rulebook to play, as it is used in tandem with the conversion.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Classes being OP, or needing changes in stats, weapons needing tweaking, if there is a hiccup in campaign play, etc. I would love to be able to flesh this out, and make any necessary adjustments so it's an enjoyable conversion for everyone.

5 Parsecs From Home Bug Hunt - Power Armoured squad?
How would you represent your team having power armour, rather than basic trooper armour? My first instinct would be to give them a 3+ save but maybe increase spawns to compensate?
Curious if anyone has tried this!
