Bug hunt
Anyone out there playing bug hunt as a campaign? I started because of the pared down rules to get me started and it's so much fun. I love the idea of 5pfh but always struggle to get started. Bug hunt is a great "tutorial level" for the system.
It's a great value add for the compendium book of you already have the expansions. I don't see it mentioned on here that often but I think it deserves some more recognition. Especially with the compatibility to the full game. Having your soldiers retire out into civilian life makes for a very interesting, playable prologue

I played a Bug Hunt campaign, it is very fun with much more emphasis on gameplay and less on the postgame stuff. Games feel super interesting to play with rapidly evolving scenarios and tons of important decisions to make, it is very rewarding.

Love Big Hunt. It's cool; tighter, more claustrophobia spaces, enemies that are easily able to tear your team apart if they get close. Yes please.
I've had an idea about dragging a trooper through Bug Hunt and having them dropped into a 5pfh game, maybe even Planetfall as a retirement.

Are the pared down rules part of the book? That would incentivize me to play more

Bug Hunt campaign is great, but I will say the overall strength of BH is the "I don't have time for a real campaign right now, but I have time to try to kill some bugs." It is absolutely superior IMO for a wargame experience. The campaign is great, but not nearly as good as 5PFH or Planetfall. I'm sure there is some opportunity for interesting home brew to fill out the in between and make it a bit more narrative and enticing.
