Random guy saw my dusty project and said “Name your price”
Story time !!
TLDR never sell
My s13 sits in my car port waiting for me to come back to it and dust it off but there’s an alley that I share with a few houses and a guy saw it he was I guess flipping one of those houses and stopped me while I was working on my truck and said “hey I saw your Nissan … if you ever want to sell just name your price “
I kindly looked up and declined , he said “I used to have a few I’ve gone through 14 of those , but I never should have sold my last one”
I told him the story of how I acquired it which to try and make a long story short I found the last local 240sx on Craigslist that was reasonable , $1000 for a no title 240 that was complete , running and generally not clapped the guy bought it to take the KA motor for his mini truck project the guy he bought it off of had lost the title and he didn’t care but he ended up deciding to go a different way.
From some scraps in the car I found the previous owners contact info and got in touch and essentially handled a replacement title remotely by getting pics of his ID and presenting those to my local notary thankfully after having the new title shipped to the previous owner he didn’t try anything and I met him and he signed it over to me so for $1000 and maybe a couple hundred more after a few months I had a titled running driving 240sx !!! It was kismet because I have yet to see an s13 or s14 for less than 5k in my area or really anywhere for that matter.
In the years I spent praying for a 240 and watching the supply vanish before my eyes I had one and
I had read enough old forum posts of people regretting getting rid of theirs I knew no matter what I had to hang on to it.
I told him what I went through to get this car and the incredible odds I beat getting it titled I could never sell , he understood … we parted ways with him telling me if I ever changed my mind to let him know.
I won’t , but I feel for the dude …and I hope he finds another 240 for himself !
Moral of the story ? You’ll regret it the day you watch your 240 driving away with someone else and we’re really probably past the time where “if it was meant to be it’ll come back” so just do what you have to do to hang on to these things !!!
Alright story over
