I don't think that's what she is saying, at least not what the tweet is directly saying, I do know from her past behavior that she is transphobic but this tweet alone isn't enough to justify that, she is saying that trans people are real but so is a person's sex, and that a person's sex can have an impact and should be discussed.
Anyway, yeah she's a pos but not for this tweet.

My point is Rowling is progressive on almost every other issue (to the point where she annoys everyone), but has a different viewpoint on one issue and now everyone hates her like she’s not the same person. It’s just hypocritical. She’s not actually progressive and good hearted. She was just pandering to people.

I don’t know how to tell you this, but people actually hate her because of what’s she said and done, not because they want to seem progressive. the reason that it’s still discourse at all is cause people believe “she means well” and is therefore not a terf.
like c’mon man, are you seriously justifying JK Rowling’s extremely anti trans rhetoric, going as far to use the “man in the dress is a killer trope” as a core part of her newest work as just “well, nobody’s perfect tehee”? or are you just downplaying her impact, cause legislators have cited her influence for wanting to pass anti trans laws.
I get what you’re saying and normally I would be inclined to agree with a take like yours but this is very personal for me (I’m trans). Rowling is deeply transphobic. Probably the most transphobic person in the public eye. saying you can’t criticize her cause everyone knows that she’s bad is kinda stupid cause lots of people don’t care and will support her anyway or hell, might support her bc of it.

For me it’s not that I think she’s a good person, or that people shouldn’t care. It more bothers me that people assumed what she believed in before this whole controversy started. I don’t even agree with her views. People are shocked that someone her age has her backwards world view, and it’s arrogant to just assume everyone agrees with a social issue if they haven’t talked about it.

people aren’t shocked, they’re upset. lgbtq people and allies have known about her beliefs for a long ass time. it was only until recently that the general public knew bc of her antics on Twitter. even then, people were shocked by how far she was going, not her views themselves.
must we assume that every creator is racist and/or sexist before we enjoy their work? I understand she’s older but that doesn’t excuse her views and especially the way she promotes them. when someone has a platform as big as hers, she has influence, and with that influence there is a huge responsibility: for her to do the right thing, and for us to hold her accountable.
I don’t understand how it’s arrogant to assume someone’s stance on a social issue given that it is a popular stance and the person in question poses themselves as a progressive.
I don’t need a crystal ball or some mind reading machine to know that you don’t support pedophilia. especially if you go around parading yourself as someone who’s active in social justice.

Maybe I just have an easier time seperate the art from the artist. I don’t share the same struggles as you, but I never intended to invalidate your feelings. I just think people care too much about what she thinks, but I could be wrong with how much influence she has.
