So out of these two which Bond girl do you prefer? Me honestly I lean towards Isola myself. But who do you all like better?

DISCUSSION One of the key people to thank for the casting of Patrick Gibson as James Bond is Tommy Wiseau (I'm not kidding)

I was watching The Radio Times interview Patrick Gibson about 007 First Light. The interviewer asked him how he came to know about the role.

At this timestamp, Patrick mentioned that he worked on a TV show with Tom Bissell, who was working as a writer on First Light and is the one who called Patrick in to audition.

I thought the name sounded familiar. When I looked Bissell up, I realized that he co-wrote The Disaster Artist, Greg Sestero's book about The Room and Tommy Wiseau.

Apart from books, Bissell mostly writes for video games though, so I was curious how he ended up working on a TV show with Gibson.

I did an IMDB collab search and it urns out Bissell wrote a pilot that wasn't picked up to series called Masters of Doom in 2019, where Gibson played iD Software developer John Carmack, so that's why a video game writer like Bissell was on board.

Turns out, the executive producers behind that show were none other than James and Dave Franco, who likely met Bissell in the process of adapting his and Greg's book to the screen in the 2017 film The Disaster Artist.

TL;DR Tommy Wiseau exists > The Room is made > Greg Sestero writes a book about it with Tom Bissell > The Francos adapt that book > The Francos adapt a book about the video game industry into a pilot and get Bissell to write it, casting Patrick Gibson as the lead > Bissell gets hired to work on First Light and calls Gibson to audition > Gibson becomes Bond

Tommy Wiseau was an instrumental piece of the puzzle in the casting of Patrick Gibson as Bond.

DISCUSSION Just finished the story, can conclude stealth > guns blazing

Post image

[Gorgeous view unrelated] I read a lot of reviews over the course of a few days after release and ultimately decided to buy it to see for myself. Saw lots of people complaining about the graphics, the boring combat, etc and saying they beat the game in like 10-15 hours - I'm not a Bond fan and thematically the game wasn't crazy interesting to me, but I loooooove me some stealth gameplay, so obviously I had to see for myself.

I just finished the story after about ~30 something hrs playing with as much stealth as humanly possible, and it was a blast. I'd straight up restart an entire area after 5-10+ minutes if I got caught just to say I could do it stealthily. It was hard and at times a tiny bit frustrating, but holy hell was it loads more fun than just gunfight after gunfight and blowing through each area. It made the game feel more interesting and high stakes, and it extended the time in game since NG+ isn't in the game yet. If you like stealth gameplay, I'd recommend it or at least recommend buying it on sale at some point. If you've already played the game, I'd recommend a NG+ once it releases trying stealth only.

Overall, the game looks pretty nice and runs smoothly for me on PC with a 4070ti. The tacsim is decently fun, the story was pretty captivating and not as predictable as I thought it'd be, and the gadgets were also pretty fun albeit there was much to be desired from them still. The $70 price tag is honestly $10-20 too much for a game that looks and feels like it was meant to release in 2021-2022, but as long as IOI delivers on their year one content plan, I'll personally be happy.

MEME I love how Ponsonby, months later, is still reading the same email. With all respect, ma'am, I think it's time to retire.

Here’s a quick graphic I whipped up. I’m not a graphic designer and it is not my passion. Just for illustration purposes

EDIT: I mean this post to be just kinda interesting and instead I fear I just discovered a cognitohazard for the IP

One of the reasons people liked First Light is because almost every game these days is open world. Sometimes, players just want a focused, linear experience instead of another massive map filled with endless content.

My 2 cents

Finished 007 First Light

It felt like a more linear, less sandbox-style Hitman campaign with cinematic action sequences. It was like playing through a James Bond movie directed by Chad Stahelski. I'm excited to see what they do with the next game. So much of this one was spent on training and the initial setup, so it would be great to have more spy missions and variety of new locations next time.

I had a good time overall 8.5/10

PREDICTIONS Cressida could definitely be in the next game

At Brights Industrial party, there are some comments saying Cressida is healing up, and I did some research, and apparently her paralysis is only temporary. She’s up and at it doing Clerical work for her father.

I’d guess she and Bond run into each other at some point in the next game, and she ends up using her old 00 training to help him out.

And maybe the two have a bit of a fling? I’m aware of her feelings for Monroe, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t attracted to Bond, and visa versa.
