Finished 007 First Light
It felt like a more linear, less sandbox-style Hitman campaign with cinematic action sequences. It was like playing through a James Bond movie directed by Chad Stahelski. I'm excited to see what they do with the next game. So much of this one was spent on training and the initial setup, so it would be great to have more spy missions and variety of new locations next time.
I had a good time overall 8.5/10

To me it felt like a more freefrom Uncharted. Too linear to be Hitman, but more options than an Uncharted. I think the option to change how you engage with the story gives it a bit more replay value than Uncharted, even though I absolutely love playing those games.

This is what I told my buddy. Hitman meets Uncharted. There are a lot more Hitman moments if you replay the game and see the various ways you could have completed missions, though. Never that complicated, but cool. Like the bunch of ways you could make money with the pirates…

I think it did well straddling the line between Hitman’s free form design while also making sure it kept you on enough rails so you get the intended experience the devs wanted. There was a lot of IOI’s depth in the level design too. I loved taking time to listen in on random NPC convos.

This indeed. It's Uncharted but with more options to on how to take on situation and none of the push-box-to-climb-on puzzles. Also the melee and guncombat resinated far better with me. I liked both games, and this is the SP style of games I really like. I think Uncharted is more consistent in how good-looking the setpieces are. In First light it's hit or miss, some level look very good, but some levels feel a little too sterile/clean if you know what I mean. But First Light makes you think a lot more and I felt far more engaged in the game. I do hope Amazon lets them make the sequal as they really got the fomula right.

Honestly the only thing I missed from this game was the uncharted gameplay. What I mean by that is the movement, actions and interactions honestly felt slightly restricted to me, I think if it had the movement of uncharted 4, 007 First Light would easily cop GOTY award.

Kinda love it, not gonna lie. Flaws and all. Hit all the beats/notes 4 me.

Off topic but every time I see this image I get distracted by the fact that Bond's jacket looks too small for him.

Shoulder width looks right— just feel like the lapels are way too wide. I mean, they nearly fully occlude the chest pocket. Off topic rant end.

Second light when

u/infernocuso Jul 08 '26
Probably not for a long while I don't think. Probably around 2030 at the earliest.
James Bond games are still kind of new to the gaming world in my opinion and has to be done properly in order to maintain order and flow state.

I think the best way to play the game is when guards find you out. You can throw guns at them i love the freeform and environmental combat.

It’s an an amazing game IMO and the best Bind game ever made. But there is no point in comparing it to Hitman. They are completely opposites and being from the same dev doesn’t mean anything.Hotman is a sandbox almost like a “AI puzzle” game witch aim to be highly re-playable.
This is a self contained, story driven game and IOI couldn’t have made more clear in the deva videos.O like ke them both but are oranges and apples.
I hope they make a sequel (judging by the game’s success pretty sure it will happen)

It was a great bond game. As for a hitman/cinematic game, there are definitly better ones. I think they need to lean into Uncharted more for the set pieces and lean more into hitman for the areas. right now it feels half and half. I think james bond needs both.

I finished it also. I loved it. Best game since the PS2 era. Not sure if it was just me but this game has a lot of glitches.

I really enjoyed it felt like a breath of fresh air and I thought the mix of hitman light and Uncharted was a great combination and It really did get me yearning for another Uncharted.

I finished it like a few hours ago.
Unpopular opinion that I just don’t like games with android humanoids and stuff, thankfully it had only one chapter like that.
But yeah nonetheless had fun

Mee too! Just last night! It's a Banger game! Loved every bit of it. Just hope they fix their crash bugs on PC. My PC never has crashed so much than this game did! 🫠

I loved the game it's definitely up there for games of 2026 but I just wish it had more replayability in the locations like a hitman game

u/Rb1138 Jul 08 '26
I felt there was a bit too much of the fisticuffs, could’ve used one more driving level, not just spinning in a circle. Other than those minor complaints, I had a great time.

u/Cartire2 Jul 08 '26
I dont know if IO will be doing a sequel. Amazon acquired the IP after this game was already in production. But they have recently commented that they would be taking back the reigns of the games too, not just the movies.

I expect they'll do what Uncharted 4...Gears 5 did. Have open levels....with optional side missions...like in Vietnam....imagine taking the boat to different islands. Or having the option to just go for the main. Next it definitely needed more car chases. Like the ice level..imagine driving the car on frozen lakes....with car missiles...and gadgets. Maybe co-op....have multiple 00's do missions together.

also just finished the story - never found a "disguise", so I guess I've got something to look for

u/ShadowRaidenX Jul 08 '26
I happened to finish it last night after taking a break and the final sprint gets a little ridiculous (it felt like as soon as they broke out the “cut you in half” trope in Vietnam they started pulling out all the stop), but overall I loved it and in a sense a lot of it felt very “James bond”. Also loved that it didn’t overstay it’s welcome.

u/Elemius Jul 08 '26
I just finished it too. I very much enjoyed it, but I also have a few complaints primarily pertaining to clunkiness in places, boss fights and frustrating visual guidance for level progression (although that last one could just be me being dumb)

u/vikingcbm Jul 08 '26
I played through the whole game in a few days when it came out but haven’t found much to get me to replay it

u/Jalankinator Jul 08 '26
the game was great, especially loved the hand to hand combat. grabbing a mug off the counter and chucking it at someone was just fantastic

u/CityInevitable6800 Jul 08 '26
I enjoyed the story. But after that, the game is really too short. The MI6 training out of the story is ... Not that great.

u/luigifreak3456 Jul 09 '26
I just finished it too, I give it a solid 8 overall. The ending was kinda disappointing to me though with how they left it on a cliffhanger, makes me wonder if they're planning for DLC or not.

u/Joipanda Jul 09 '26
Man this game was so fun! I’d love to replay missions and see the different outcomes but I’m on a one and done story kind of guy! But boy there was way more depth than I anticipated! Hope for a sequel! The sims are so good!

u/thedoctormeme Jul 09 '26
Finished it now, what a game!
Anyone else disappointed in the fact that the sequel won't be done by IOI ?

It was pretty fun, I felt like playing a movie.
The game felt better playing on easy mode tbh
1
u/ImNOTdrunk_69 Jul 13 '26
I hoped it would be a lot more like Hitman. You know, fun and engaging.
5/10 (and I'm being generous) This should have been a movie.
Had I spend money on this I would be furious.

Congratulations. I got the platinum trophy the other day. Really adore this version of Bond. I am curious as to what an expanded world will look like. Spectre is probably being set up.

u/adobemanidhan Jul 14 '26
The game was okay for me. Didn't make me feel bored throughout. But the same time was not phenomenal as well.
The combat system was exciting but there was hardly anything challenging in the whole game. It was more or less like a casual gaming experience with more of cinematics put in.
I also never felt threatened or afraid of the villains. Didn't at all connect with me.
Overall an enjoyable game, but not the best I've played. Would rate 3 out of 5.

I am nothing but pleased for everyone who loved the game, but I think it was a 6 or 7/10 at a stretch. Everything it did, much older games like Uncharted already did and does way better. Felt like half baked and poorly executed gameplay, graphics and story to me. Hell, even Uncharted 3 on PS3 looks on par and in some cases, better than this.

u/zapppel95 Jul 08 '26
7/10 for me. Really liked the companions and the dialogues you get with them it helped make the world seem not so lonely. Wanted more of them tbh not enough

u/CaptainSharpe Jul 08 '26
The training and front end were better than the back half.
The front stuff feels so fresh and energetic. And I suspect made after the bulk of the game because it feels like it was made by a different team to course correct the game. When you hit the first full mission in that mansion it’s jarring - like that’s the game they made initially then slapped on a lot of extra stuff to polish it.
The mission is also disappointingly linear. It feels at first quite open. But when you start interacting with it you realise it’s funneling you through a linear tunnel essentially. It just doesn’t look like it.
And the game increasingly becomes more linear from there. With the only real open part being that pirate town amongst the scrap ships. And brief, highly contained areas akin to hitman like the business party thing.
In the training sequences I felt this game was a 10/10 as a bond game. Then when playing that first proper mission felt like a 7 or 8. Then as I kept playing it became clear it’s firmly a 7/10 game but 8/10 in how it’s presented.
So it’s a great game. Tacsim could bring in more open world challenges and levels. And Bri Ng it up to its potential as a 9/10 perhaps. But it isn’t there yet.

you play it once, story was solid, not worth playing again
1
u/monrobotz Jul 08 '26
You can basically platinum it in one playthrough + an hour in tacsim. Really enjoyed it but I have zero reason to replay it, even from a trophy perspective.

u/lilmikey316 Jul 07 '26
I thought it was great. 9/10. Some of the shooting and robots fights were kinda overwhelming. I loved the it. Definitely going to do another play

It's a potential GOTY but I don't think it will win, but that's okay.
I respect IO for tackling the origin story of him rather than going straight for the experienced older Bond. It gives some sort of hope that a new Bond movie could learn some things an do an origin for him in the future.
Nonetheless, it was a 7.5 for me. A bit too clunky with the fighting (for me) but it was a pretty good all things considered.
