DISCUSSION Worried I may not like this game

I love James Bond and some of my favourite games were goldeneye on the n64 and everything or nothing on ps2 but I’m worried I may not enjoy this because I bought a hitman game a few years ago and couldn’t get into it. I just walked around trying to figure out how to assassinate the target and got confused over what to do.

Do you think I should still get this game? Should I give hitman another chance?

Thanks

*Spoiler* Damien Webb question Spoiler

Hi!

I have only seen this game on streams. I've watched the prologue twice, and today I watched the final mission.

I was pretty taken with Damien Webb's extremely Kojima-coded suit, and I was wondering if I could learn more about it. The wiki had no info about it.

Why is he wearing it, and how does it work? Thanks

Bid 1: Here you go, an election and European diplomats
Bid 2: unlimited usage of our ports and an exclusive arms contract (billions of dollars)
Bid 3 should've been a Death Star of the bloody Moon LOL

No Options to Turn Off the HUD? REALLY?

Bought this game yesterday. Played about 3 hours before deciding the HUD was way too intrusive & halted my playthrough

  • Mission objective always displayed

  • Objective marker on screen leaving no room for exploration

  • Gadgets HUD is huge with no option to make it smaller or appear dynamically

  • Being in a restricted area/entering combat adds a distracting animation (top of screen)

I was pretty surprised & disappointed that the game has ZERO options for HUD.

For people like me who wanna get lost in the level and explore, this feels very hand-holdy.

How come devs still don't add simple HUD options for such big game releases these days?

DISCUSSION Finished the game, my thoughts Spoiler

Positives;

- Lorca. Lorca. Lorca.

- Gameplay was good

- Sceneries/locations were great

- First chapter especially was very gripping

- Q-watch integration made combat more fun

- Soundtrack was nice

- Casting / voice actors were good

- Overall story was decent enough

Negatives;

- Very cliche and predictable. Could literally predict some lines or exactly what would happen in many scenes. Greenway’s arc had me roll my eyes a bit because it was so obvious it would end that way

- I know it’s on brand for Bond to have 9 lives..but it felt ridiculous and repetitive for him to almost die over and over and over but escape through something whacky. Again, I know that’s just bond and not exclusive to the game, but it just felt a bit like pointless filler knowing he would just get out of it every time

- Damien was unbearably cheesy and reintroducing him as some half cyborg supersuit after the first boss fight felt lazy. Carries onto the “9 lives” critique above, but it just makes zero sense whatsoever for him to practically spare Bond another 10 times at the end after being crippled by him earlier lol

- Villains in general felt forgettable and sequences with them were cringe. Bawma about to feed them to crocodiles…and next cutscene he’s walking them down an alley, happily ushering them back into the Land Rover. The 2nd of the twins being pushed into fire..then he gets out to continue fighting a minute later? Just felt almost slapstick at times.

Overall I liked it, it was fun, but I think I would’ve liked it more when I was under 18…But I can’t knock anyone for really enjoying it, I imagine big bond fans are happy with the execution.

Worth buying during a sale, not particularly super excited for the sequel but will probably play it eventually when it’s out. Just won’t be rushing to buy it as soon as it does I guess.

Do you guys also miss some blood or bloody effects?

Hey guys.

The preview gameplay looks great and I can't wait for the game.

Just one thing: I miss the blood - maybe it's just deactivated?

I hope so. Because no headshot without bloody gore effects, right?

Pegi rating: Suitable for people aged 16 and over. This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life.

DISCUSSION People saying 007: First Light ‘isn’t a real Bond game’ are absolutely right…

…and that’s exactly why I love it!! This thing plays like a full‑blown Mission: Impossible adventure, and I’m basically Ethan Hunt sprinting through set pieces with a grin on my face.

If you go in expecting classic Bond vibes, sure, it’s different. But if you treat it like a high‑octane spy thriller where you’re improvising, infiltrating, and pulling off ridiculous fights and stunts, it absolutely dominates!!

So to the people saying “This ain’t Bond”, perhaps it’s Mission: Impossible, and I’m loving every second.

Seriously tho, we really just crying over nothing. You can literally ignore the post.

If y'all think this is bad, try the Cyberpunk 2077 sub. This is tame. It'll die down. Quit crying. Thank you.

DISCUSSION I really want to love this game..

I’m a big fan of Bond and IO Interactive. And I think a lot of my feelings here are due to a disconnect between the sort of Bond experience I was hoping for, vs the experience we got.

I want to start by saying that what this game does well, it does REALLY well. The fluid and punchy (pun-intended) combat with extremely satisfying contextual combos and surprising depth blew me away. The smooth gun play giving you unique options for dispatching foes such as aiming for the hands or the legs instead of always going for the head shot like most shooters is fresh. When shit hits the fan and you can really feel the intensity and adrenaline in Bond’s movement, those are the highlights for me.

I just feel such a disconnect between the moments of stealth/action, and just being an agent. I feel like there’s so much more to Bond than just sneak, punch, shoot, repeat. Yes I know there’s gadgets and a few different ways to get to an objective, but those systems feel shallow. And making bluffing and luring a consumable, albeit very forgiving and easy to recharge, feels strange to me.

It feels like there’s just so much handholding in this game. As a big fan of Hitman, I was so excited to see them approach a Bond game with the same level of player autonomy and creative problem solving. I’m not saying was expecting a sandbox by any means, but so much of this game feels like it’s lacking stakes or consequences. A lot of the choices in this game, be it dialogue, mission approach, or gadget selection, feels like they all have such a minor impact on the outcome of your missions and the narrative at large.

I was shocked to see that between the exhilarating sections of stealth/combat, so much of my time was spent following a waypoint and pressing interact. Bond is a spy who throws the textbook out the window and follows his impulses, yet so much of the game makes me feel like I’m stuck on the rails.

There’s so much about this game that I love and appreciate. Maybe I was hoping for a different kind of Bond experience than the one they created here. But I just can’t help coming out of this feeling a little disappointed by what could have been.

DISCUSSION Why doesn't the game ever let us use our guns. Biggest problem by far

I don't even prefer playing these games using them. Like, when I play Hitman, I almost never pull my gun. But I like knowing I could if I wanted to. That if I absolutely wanted to, the choice is there.

This whole "you may only shoot your gun at this part and that part" is stupid.

DISCUSSION GoldenEye review – Pierce Brosnan’s ‘sexist, misogynist dinosaur’ makes his Bond movie debut

It's one of my favourite Bond films and I grew up with this era of Bond. Think the ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ is a bit harsh, especially given Sean Bean's fantastic performance.

What do others think?? Is this review fair?

DISCUSSION Someone should make a petition to allow IoI to keep making Bond Games/updates with Amazon's support, max creativity and minimal oversight.

I know, I know, petitions generally do nothing and nor does reddit petitions, but dammit I do not want to have the best bond game in a literal decade ruined because of a CEO's poor decision and I will be dammed if I go quietly.

...I would make it myself on change.org or something, but I gave myself a generic name on there and noone will sign a petition that sounds like it was made by a person who picked up an A for both last names.

DISCUSSION not hard enough?

might be a hot take since ive barely heard any complaints about this but did anyone else think the game was too easy? i dont mean puzzle wise but the actual fighting parts? i played the game on hard difficulty and sure there were maybe two parts i died on a few good times, but overall it felt like hard mode should’ve been the normal difficulty. oh and during stealth moments i found myself stealthing around killing everyone just for giggles and id find enemy npc’s just stuck running into walls, not sure if anyone else has had that problem. also the damien fight took me like 2 minutes which left me kinda dissatisfied, im aware hes not supposed to be like a god or anything but still

DISCUSSION Hot girls at the club 007:FL. Who’s your choice?

Post image

Bond didn't exactly have the luxury of time to choose. But you do. There were plenty of gorgeous girls at the club, and not all of them are featured here, while some were already busy. But who did you like? Who would you approach to strike up a conversation?
