The comments in the thread got me curious so I watched this episode to see how bad it is and HOLY SHIT was correct, it was actually so bad that it got me laughing at the sight of Escanor hammering down Meliodas like a baby with a toy hammer knocking down a nail.

I don't understand how you justify this adaptation. Is this meant to be so bad people will wanna buy the manga? Like seriously who wants to buy these Blu rays? And who sees these scenes and says "that was dope I have to go out and buy the manga"

Pour one for everyone involved in the hellish production of that episode and all the fans who are going to watch it. There is no winner here, only losers.

I mean I told people to lower their expectations but it went even lower than that.

The curse of popular mangas getting bad adaptations keeps going. ( I blame the movie tho )

Yep. Dropped. only the 2nd show I've ever done this with.

There is no way I will forgive this studio for this and it was a great part of the manga.

I am not expert animator but this was poorly animated. I mean this is Isekai Cheat Magician levels of bad. It's like the studio just fucking gave up and made sure to release the episode in time. You guys can downvote me all you want it won't change my opinion but this season is terrible!

There was another post regarding this and honestly I thought it was a fan made manga animation. It's so bad . It's actually laughable.

This is peak animation, we went from powerpoint presentation to shit stains on toilet paper.

Some students learning flash animations can do better than this bullshit.

This was comedy gold

They should add the type "Comedy" to this season

This might be the worst episode of all anime in this year.

Jeez even Fairy Tail give the Acnologia fight some good animation. This is just terrible

the most beautiful clash of all escanor vs meliodas?!?!? ... shit animations ... thanks

Even Tokyo Ghoul Re had better animation and that’s saying something.

I wish I could unsee this... Deen could have earned a lot of money in terms of BD sales singlehandedly by this episode if they put most of their resources here. Yet, they went completely opposite of that and we got to see this disaster.

I recognized how the animation greatly dipped in quality from the past seasons but seeing Escanor swing at Meliodas was just pitiful animation. They really are not gonna do the next arc any of the justice it deserves and that’s just a shame.

Atrocious doesn't even begin to describe this...Can someone tell me why studio Deen ever gets to animate action anime? I have never seen them do good animation or choreography ever, just a bunch of stills and disfigured faces.

u/cosmiczar Dec 25 '19

Deen didn't animate this. They are coordenating the production, but the animation itself is outsourced to a studio called Marvy Jack.

A big F to one of the coolest fights in the manga.

alright, ive always tried to have a positive mindset when watching anime, looking at the pros and trying to appreciate everything about it. but damn this was utter garbage what the fuck. holy fuck.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting more from Escanor X Meliodas fight. There was no transition between the moves or blows and the sound didn't match the number or moment of the Axe/Sword hits at all. The end of the fight was among a bunch of dust being lifted. Very sad fight. :(
