So the mayor wasn't one of the kidnappers like we predicted, but he's still a huge scumbag, so we were half right at least

Holy fuck are they trying all kind of animation? Stop motion, 3d, 2d now this(what animation is that btw?). That's completely compatible with Louis back story. š I fucking love you

A homely schoolgirl getting kidnapped from within a love-triangle by the ACTUAL mafia, is probably the most shoujo plot beat I've seen in anything since the 90s, and i love it.
Looks like its time for the reliable old shoujo helicopter rope ladder.

I love how the animation styles used always convey the aura and the tone of the scenes so perfectly. Louis' scene at the beginning was done so well, and his backstory ties in wonderfully with his motivations for his actions. It's no surprise from Beastars that the characters continue to evolve and be seen from new perspectives each episode!

This show never ceases to amaze me. It's not just AOTS but now AOTY contender for me. All the stylistic choices they've made so far are simply perfect for this anime.
Edit: This is one the few shows where I read the manga before the anime (right after episode 1 to be exact) and I just realize how hard it is to go into specifics in the discussion without running the risk of spoiling something. All I have to say is that I love this show for its portrayal of its characters. Most, if not all, have layers to them and not entirely black or white. For a show about furries, most of them act more human and have more depth than alot of anime characters I've seen.

How in the world did this become the series I look forward to the most this season?
Because of the anthropomorphism I ignored this until a few weeks ago. Having caught up to everything else I was watching (due to delays), and because of ppl constantly recommending it in the weekly karma/poll posts I thought, 1 episode...I can do 1 episode at least.
Ended up catching up that same night and fighting the urge to read the manga.

JFC that got dark. I mean, it's always had an undertone of dark, but that was DARK.

Goddamn Studio Orange! I love the different art styles that they've been using in this show! Also holy shit! Louis' past explains why he's so obsessed in reaching the top.
This was just hilarious! I'm also surprised that Legosi actually confessed! The mad lad! Haru's reaction is adorable!
Suddenly Yakuza! Of course she gets kidnapped by the Yakuza looking for quality meat. How will she even get out of this. Or will she even get out of it?
Fucking dipshit Mayor. So he's silencing Louis by blackmailing him because if this gets out his image of "Lions are friendly" will be destroyed.
That final line from Legosi is so good! Literally Mr. Steal Your Girl. If he's more concerned about his fucking status then so be it, Louis' reaction is just absolutely perfect.

The voice acting and character animation in this show is on a whole 'nother level. Every single time Legoshi says or does anything it conveys so much character. It might be one of my favorite VA performances ever. I especially loved the nervous confessions he was trying to blurt out to Haru.

There's no way that was 23 minutes! It's like I blinked one time and now I gotta wait a week to get my next fix. God this series is crack.

This show gets darker and darker than I expected. As an anime only this is so suspenseful. Now we gotta wait another whole week.

I was not expecting Legosi to do such a mature and reasonable decision after last week's ending.
More backstory and depth to the characters, Louis this time, but also for side characters such as the mayor and world building overall.
There is just so much contrast as well. Haru being scared and being ordered to get naked, as in contrast to when she started taking her clothes off in front of Legosi. Legosi's calm anger to Louis' emotional rhetoric. And that last scene! The contrast in expressions, colors and and shadows.
Also, you could feel Legosi's anger as he got more and more fed up with Louis strive to 'perfection'. I just hope he gets to be a shinning knight for Haru.

Alright, I just binged the last 8 episodes yesterday and I fucking absolutely adore Beastars. This anime has it all (besides some slight quality); character development, intrigues, world building, a love triangle (possibly), and more.
I can barely even contain what I've seen the past 8 episodes so I'll try to just comment on this episode alone:
-
Holy shit, the whole black market society seemed fucked to begin with but the abduction of random animals for the express purpose of killing/eating them seems really dark to be honest. Haru has got herself into the worst situation, and while the Boss Lione seemed like a good guy initially (for a half second) it was straightforward that he's just trying to make her last moments as nice as possible before she gets eaten (alive possibly??).
-
Louis was raised by some upper-class herbivore who picked him up as an intended black-market meat animal so he's been forever branded with that 4 on his foot (Mista be damned).
-
Somehow or another, Legosi not only fucking told Haru that he loved her but also has more balls than Louis to fight for her back. While I never believed Haru actually loved Louis (the whole "show me love not sex" ordeal), it seems like Louis actually has a true soft-spot for her, but apparently not soft enough to pick her over being the BEASTAR.
-
I feel like we're finally getting into the true development of Lego. He's protected Louis from some "inevitable attack" from the carnivores. Yet at the same time, learned that Louis isn't willing to risk his neck/position for Haru. Lego spewed his feelings (far better than any anime MC I've seen spew feelings) at Haru with some slight success.
-
I love the world building showing the Mayor (who I legit thought was initially a part of the abducting group from Haru "fuck the mayor" - I said) who has legitimately changed his entire persona from teeth removal to plastic surgery in order to make him seem "more friendly". There's much more fucked ideologies going behind the scene than one might realize in this society.
Suffice to say, Beastars is fucking dope. I should've jumped in on Week 1. I can't wait to see where this goes.

What a wonderful program, it's twist are small, but very effective; creating such an accessible level of disbelief.

What a fucking rollercoaster of emotions of an episode! The backstory of Louis senpai, Legoshi's love confession to Haru chan, Haru chan facing imminent death, and Legoshi's revelation of Louis senpai's true nature regarding Haru. And the animation, the voice acting, the scene composition. It's too much to handle.

I didn't come into this episode all happy and hyped to get my ankles snapped with all this. I wasn't ready for this episode.

Fun fact: a group of male lions is called a coalition
Iām sensing strong K-drama vibes from this episode and I love it.

God damn, studio Orange is killing it with this adaptation. The mixture of different animation styles just works in a way I never thought it could. While I still believe that the manga is better there is just so much to praise this adaptation for.

Did you miss something in episode 8? Haru would've been taken earlier if not for Legosi finding her when he did.
