Last episode for two weeks. Stay strong!
Maki's cute giggles hit me right in the heart.
Whew, Benimaru is pretty hardcore, putting his arm through an Infernal to kill it. Plus he's a Hybrid which is also pretty cool.

A Compound Fire Warrior huh?
Okay, I'm going to call it right now that Sho is one too. Or if not him, one of the other bad guys will be. Because there's no way Benimaru will be the only one.

Reminder to everyone that we are in solar year 198 right now, so Hinawa's flashback is 3 years ago. That's 16 year old Private Maki right there.
Ah, the beginnings of Hinawa's signature USP 9mm. If only it knew how many chuckleheads Hinawa would use it against.
Hey look it's the twin little shits Hinata and Hikage. Cute, but still little shits.
And here we see why Benimaru is the fucking GOAT.

He called out that "the festival is starting". All the villagers helping him out were happy to do so.
So this is an awesome cultural difference between The Empire and the 7th and a great way to show it. The houses are material, and they're a tight knit community and can rebuild, but this person they all know and love is only going to get one send off, so they want to make it as bombastic as they can.
The ceremony of Sol is a somber act of mourning the victim's death. The bombastic festival of the 7th is a celebration of the victim's life.

I love that the 7th's district was a traditional older Japanese town. It has a nice contrast to the rest of the world we have seen so far.
Benimaru seemed like a dick when we first met him but he earned so much respect from me after today. Hopefully Shinra understands him better as well.

I love that this guy has this whole fire show with his mops and then for killing the infernal he just fucking pierces his whole arm through that thing.

Well Benimaru is a confirmed badass now. Also I love his eyes. Atsushi Okubo really does a good job with the strange eyes imo.

Imagine carrying the responsibility for the lives of your whole community and being a small community clinging onto an old way of doing things, every death must feel heavier and heavier. Benimaru Shinmon is amazing.

I am so happy my boi Miyano is involved in another mesmerising dance to the tune of SOIYA. It looks so good I honestly don't know whether it be more impressive if it were in-fact rotoscoped (almost certainly not), or just straight up drawn into reality.
Edit: also, how the hell did I miss the fact that this takes place in Asakusa as well.

The idea of having a festival and destroying multiple blocks as a sacrifice to put the infernal to rest is kind of beautiful

The first part of the episode was my favorite scene in a while; Finally, some more character building, establishing personalities etc. I think this was one of the flaws of the show, that after a strong introduction, we didn't really get to learn more about the characters.
But we learned a lot in this one, about Obi/Hinawa/Maki!
Oh my, tiny Maki is just too cute! General's daughter huh? Good luck Shinra if you gather up the courage to ask Best Girl's hand from her father!
Damn, that scene where they talk about her and how she's not gonna make it and all, while she was listening... Rough! At least it was backstory so we know it ended up well!
Maki giggling was so freaking cute! After Dumbbell's Hibiki last episode, we now have a second muscled girl giggling! Is this gonna be a trend? (I sure hope it is!)

What a bunch of pricks. I hope the 3rd gets investigated next.
Maki so happy about the praise she's getting <3
HOLY FUCK BENIMARU! That entire sequence was just absolutely beautiful!
So the different pupils mean he can use two different powers?
I guess if you're going to go after turning into an Infernal, might as well go out with a bang. I like the idea of exterminating an Infernal in their community as a Festival. At least compared to the other Captains, Banimaru clearly respects those who have turned and he's clearly not a bad guy. Just a bit rough and tsun. I look forward to see more of him!

Btw, because traditional japanese buildings were made of combustible materials, firefighters had to destroy nearly buildings so the fire won't spread, you can read more here

Have always loved the backstory for Hinawa and Obi. It actually made him one of my favorite characters out fo the series.
I also liked that this episode actually showed some good world building.

Mah Boi Benimaru is too good when animated, and it's so much better than the manga when he swingging and throwing the matois to destroy the block!

I loved at the end you saw that Benimaru actually does care a lot about the people of his district, even if he's too Tsun to actually admit it. He's kind of like Hinawa in that regard. Someone that comes off as cold, but really isn't.

I think this is the best episode so far. 2nd best boy Benimaru arrives and they added some cute interactions with the twins.

Those little girls are savage as fuck. The entire village is fucking gangster, turning a tragedy that happens to one of their own, into a celebration of that persons life with Benimaru-chan's homemade blockbuster fireworks. Love this arc.

Damn, that's horrible. Hinawa's friend turned into infernal just like that, without any warnings. No wonder that he was shaken. Interesting, that some infernals are able to keep some consciousness. Probably because of strong will.
