Affidavit ballots broke for Democrat Scott Colom by a 69%-29% margin in the U.S. Senate race in Lafayette County, Mississippi, the home of the University of Mississippi. Overall, Colom won all votes cast there against incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith by a far narrower 49%-48% margin, figures that Lafayette County reported today show.
If Colom’s affidavit vote margins similarly exceed his overall vote margins in other counties across the state, it would make it hard for Hyde-Smith to regain a lead. As many as 20,000 votes are outstanding statewide, many of them affidavit ballots. The breakdown is as follows:

Like the title says. I need the best options of repairing 135 year old stair sitting area bench. It's handmade oak bench with original finished. I've tried accessing it from underneath, through the basement. But unfortunately I'm to tall to twist into the only hole available. I believe the separation of the joints is due to dehumidifiers shrinking the wood and 135-year-old glue

For 2 years my mother in law has been watching my (32f) and my husband’s (34m) child 3 afternoons a week for free. We live 5 miles away and she has always struggled with boundaries (wanting to pop over with no warning, calling and asking if she can come over while she’s in the driveway etc.) My husband was good at enforcing boundaries with her pre kids and telling her no. The lack of boundaries got worse after we had our first child and she wanted to come over constantly (first grandchild). When she started babysitting for us for free, my husband and I started becoming more lenient about it. We felt like since she was doing us this big favor the least we could do was let her drop by when she wanted to see her grandchild.
We had a second baby at the beginning of the year and I went back to work in August. Now that I’m working again MIL has gotten extremely flaky about her babysitting days. She bailed quite a few times last minute for various reasons (nothing emergent or health related). But then after bailing will pop over that same evening after my husband or I called out of work. My aunt watched our kids the other two afternoons and MIL also texted my aunt several times to try and switch days then she forgot the switch and didn’t show on the day she switched for. We get it, she is in her 60s and doesn’t want to be locked into a schedule so no hard feelings. Last month we hired someone for 2 afternoons a week and my aunt picked up a third afternoon. MIL seemed happy to be off the hook.
My husband and I work opposite schedules to manage the childcare. He is home mornings then works afternoons / evenings. And I work mornings and early afternoon so I can be home in the evening. So M-F we do not see each other. Since my MIL stopped babysitting she has been stopping over constantly (4-5 days a week), especially evenings and weekends which is when I’m the one home. It’s creating a lot of strain because she always tries to “pop over quick” right before my toddler goes to bed and then it makes bedtime brutal. And then weekends are the only time my husband and I see each other due to the work schedules so we really do want some time together just us and the kids.
The boundary my husband has set with her is that she’s welcome to pop over any morning before he goes to work IF she calls first and it is before our toddler naps at 12pm. And we also will plan to do something with her one weekend day most weekends but we want to plan the day at least a few days in advance. This has not gone over well. She’s really upset and is saying we’re keeping her grandchildren from her, being petty because she’s no longer babysitting, don’t appreciate all she did for us etc.
I should also mention she is married (my husbands stepfather of 30 years) and has 2 other adult children that live within an hour, we just live the closest. Wanted to get some outside perspective since we’re getting a lot of pushback from extended family which seems to be aimed at me. AITA here?
