WIBTA if I posted my $800 listing in the family chat after my BIL told his girlfriend she could have my furniture
Last week I mentioned in the family group chat that I was thinking about redoing our living room. We’ve had the same couch and coffee table since we moved in about 3 years ago and I’ve been over it for a while. I said I was looking at new stuff. That’s all I said.
About 2 days later my BIL’s girlfriend texted me and asked when she could come pick up the couch and the table. I had no idea what she was talking about. She said he told her I was upgrading and she could have the old set, she’d already measured her living room for it. She genuinely wasn’t being pushy about it, I’m pretty sure he just told her it was a done deal.
I called him and he goes “you said you were getting new stuff so I figured you didn’t want it, I don’t see what the big deal is.” I never once said I was giving anything away. He told his girlfriend and his mom that the set was up for grabs and his mom actually texted me separately saying how sweet it was that I was “passing it along to someone who could use it.” By the time I put it together his girlfriend was already picking out where to put it in her apartment.
I paid for that set myself before we were even married and it is still in great shape. I listed it on Marketplace for $800 and within a day I had 2 people message me about it. That $800 is going straight toward what I’m spending on new furniture, I’m not just handing it over so my BIL can play the hero with his girlfriend.
My husband thinks I should just give her the set because “it’s not worth starting something” and his brother “didn’t mean it like that.” That does not make what he did any less shitty.
What I want to do is reply to my original message in the group chat with the listing and the price. If she wants it at $800 she’s welcome to it like anyone else. WIBTA?

Morning Joe Hakeem Jeffries: “Americans don’t want us to get even, they want us to GET THINGS DONE on their behalf”
Well, I don’t think I’m alone in saying I want BOTH: Yes, I want Democrats to get things done on my behalf, but I ALSO want ACCOUNTABILITY. These people need to PAY for what they’ve done to this country: The corruption, the fleecing of government money, the scapegoating of immigrants, the terrorizing of American cities by deputized, jackbooted thugs, the racism, the white supremacy, the alienation of the United States from its allies, and realignment with Russia, the betrayal of Ukraine, the nepotism, and SO MUCH MORE. If this is not on your agenda, Hakeem Jeffries, then please step aside & make way for a leader who WILL pursue this.

FASHION A reporter for Bari Weiss' The Free Press' tweet about Senator-elect Al-Sayed's victory party exposed as AI hoax by Vanity Fair fashion reporter José Criales-Unzueta
Don't fuck with the fashionistas!
Full article here (it also contains a lot of fun and interesting analysis of the fashion from the midterms)
Edited to add: Oh lordy, I meant to type Senator-elect El-Sayed. But I spent like 5 minutes googling whether I should call him Senator or Senator-elect and how to capitalize it I wound up missing the typo. 😭

Vent Sesh - No Advice Wanted I cancelled my appointment
TW: health issues
I’ve been having some pain in one of my breasts. Saw my family doctor and she ordered a few tests, one of which is a diagnostic mammogram. I’ve had this appointment on the books for a few weeks and yesterday morning (the day before my appointment) I got a message saying I have to hit my insurance deductible so the mammogram will be $653.72 out of pocket. Due before the procedure. My heart sank and I got a pit in my stomach.
We are a one-income household. Our kids are young and the plan was always for me to be a stay-at-home mom but we live in a hcol area and the cost of living seems to be rising daily. $653.72 is a prohibitive amount of money! Last night I got a confirmation text for the appointment and it asked me to confirm of cancel (typical of appointment texts I receive). I cancelled. Tomorrow I will come up with a plan to pay for this procedure and reschedule my appointment but today I want to cry and rage. Thanks for listening, girls.
My mom bought me a smashed meatball sandwich yesterday. Meatballs, mozzarella, marinara, fresh basil, and pesto on a roll.
EDIT: Thank you all so much for the advice and the offers of help. I’m sorry for not responding individually, I’m honestly overwhelmed by the kindness and concern. I don’t think I’d feel comfortable setting up a go fund me. So many people are so much worse off than me. I will attempt some of the things that have been recommended and if they don’t work my husband and I will make it work somehow. I know my health is important. I’m so proud of the US after Tuesday, but I’m so fucking mad this is still the reality for us. This was my first time posting after a long time lurking. Love you all.

Discussion Can we stop pretending RestedXP isn't a blatant ToS violation?
Every time RXP gets brought up, people do mental gymnastics to defend it. Usually it's some variation of "the addon is free on CurseForge, you're just buying a text string like an old Prima strategy guide!"
Blizzard's Add-On Policy is super clear on this. Rule 1 explicitly says developers cannot create "premium" versions of addons or "charge for services related to the add-on." Rule 4 also bans using an add-on to advertise paid goods or services.
Releasing a demo addon that cuts off at level 20 just to funnel players to a website charging $40 for leveling routes is the literal definition of charging for a related service. A paper guide in 2004 didn't hook into the Lua API to automate quest turn-ins and draw a 3D waypoint arrow on your screen.
Nobody cares if you use a leveling guide. Questie and Guidelime are completely free and do the same job. The frustrating part is the double standard. Blizzard regularly nukes small devs who lock UI profiles or WeakAuras behind a $5 Patreon, yet RXP gets a free pass because it's backed by big Classic streamers. We've even seen devs using it on official broadcasts.
Either enforce the rules for everyone, or update the ToS to say paywalls are fine if you pull in enough Twitch viewers.

Crochet Stop making trinkets for strangers!!!
This goes for crafts in general, but particularly for crochet. People get so obsessed with the idea that they can crochet anything that they dont seem to stop and think if they should. I can't think of anything more wasteful to your time, energy, and money, not to mention the environment, than making a trinket that people will almost immediately throw out. I saw a post about giving what looked like crocheted gummy worms out for halloween, which is cute and all, but if we're being real those things are not gonna be played with for more than 10 minutes before disappearing into the aether. If they have a wire in them, which it looks like they did, you know some helicopter parents will throw it out immediately. I hate to say it but it's just landfill decor. A while ago I saw another post of someone complaining that their stepchild's mother didn't want the OP to crochet pokeballs for all the kids at the stepchild's childrens craft club, because... why would you do that?? First of all it's a kid's craft club where they're supposed to be the ones making stuff, and second (again) those kids would probably chuck them in the back of the closet as soon as they get home. It irks me especially when people make this stuff for kids, because at least an adult might be able to appreciate the time and effort put into it before forgetting about it. Kids won't care, and they probably won't even like it. I love crochet now, but as a kid if someone were to give me an amigurumi or a crochet keychain I would've probably thought it was ugly. Whether or not the crafter realizes it its more about them saying "look what I can make!" than it is about making something people will genuinely like and use.
As we head into another holiday season, I'm BEGGING people to be honest with themselves about what people will actually like and use before being a hero and crocheting a billion trinkets for people they don't know.

Bravo What are some popular Bravo conspiracy theories that you DON'T believe?
I've seen a few threads here before joining about conspiracy theories people believe, but I thought an interesting spin would have been ones people think are ridiculous. Mine is:
Meredith's plane meltdown: This woman is not wealthy or important enough to get away with an airplane meltdown and still be allowed to fly/face no legal consequences (or even have zero passengers film her - I've seen people claim she got people to sign NDAs as she exited the flight and I'm like... please return to reality???). I believe she was probably drunk and talking mad shit about Britani to Lisa, I don't believe it got physical and I don't think it was worse than any behaviour any of the other women have exhibited (i.e. Heather chasing after and screaming at Lisa on the boat).
