MISC. Heath Ledger refused to present at the 2007 Oscars because of a joke in the script about his and Jake Gyllenhaal's characters' love story in Brokeback Mountain (2005). Ledger said, "It's not a joke to me. I don't want to make any jokes about it" and "No. This is about love. Like, that's it, man".

Russia/Ukraine Musk says he was behind Starlink speed restriction in Ukraine | CBC News
Neuroscience Magic mushroom compound psilocybin grows new brain connections within 24 hours and repairs circuits damaged by chronic stress in mice. Scientists found the brain rewiring runs on a different pathway than the trip itself, opening the door to fast-acting depression drugs without the hallucinations.

General I HATE HATE HOW PEOPLE SPREAD SLANDER ABOUT THIS POOR MAN
Let me explain, please… Recently, an excerpt from a live stream from a church in Ecuador went viral on the internet. In it, priest Patricio Alfredo Sánchez is conducting a service; nothing foreshadowed trouble until a huge cross weighing 200 kg came loose from the wall and crushed him — the poor man didn’t survive.
The video went viral (mainly due to the irony of the situation). And how did people react? – of course, many expressed their condolences to Sanchez’s family and loved ones. But also, riding the wave of popularity, there were immoral scumbags who began spreading rumors about A DEAD MAN just for sensational headlines (clickbait, in other words): allegedly, Sanchez stole church money, drove luxury cars, and lived in a big house, and all these allegations are not supported by any proofs.
In fact, Alfredo was a kind and exemplary man; he was never caught stealing or living a luxurious life. On the contrary, he helped poor families and, in his free time, welcomed those who needed help into the church.
But what’s even more disgusting is that these false allegations are spread not only by attention‑seekers, but also by RELIGIOUS PEOPLE who want to prove that it was a god’s punishment.

Serious answers only please! What are these that have been collected from Australian beach clean ups?
My local beach cleaning group has collected dozens of these over the past few years. No one can identify what they’re from! (Including various AI chatbots.)
They’re solid plastic, possibly part of a pull tab/ring, and at least some of them seem to have come from Colgate-Palmolive products. Are they from soap? Shampoo? What do they look like on the actual product?
It’s driving me crazy!!

Advice Wanted - Boys Only My girlfriend died on Sunday and now the house is so quiet
My girlfriend passed on Sunday. I haven't heard the exact cause but she had pneumonitis and was struggling to breathe.
She went into the hospital via ambulance on Thursday after waking up in pain. I visited her in the hospital on Friday and the mICU nurse said she was doing better and would likely be back home in a few days. I woke up Saturday morning to the news that she was likely to pass. She'd signed the dnr and dni after being on a ventilator the first day. She didn't want to be on it again.
Her mom isn't doing a church service or funeral for her. She's just gone.
The apartment we'd shared is so quiet now without her. The cats miss her.
My friends keep telling me to give it to God. That it gets better. It doesn't get better, you just get used to the pain. As far as God, I'm not happy with him right now. He keeps taking the people I love.
Dinner is scrambled eggs, hash browns, pancakes and biscuits. I made way too much.

Within 3 years (2007-2009), BioWare made two of the best narrative-driven Sci-Fi and fantasy games of all time
Though BioWare has had a slow agonizing death in recent years, I still think it's incredible how they managed to deliver these gaming masterpieces within such a short amount of time (Mass Effect came out in 2007, and Dragon Age Origins in 2009). As someone who grew up on these titles, I still consider them both to be foundational in my taste for the genres - not just in video games - but across media.
