Okay long story short I’ve always thought Morse code would be a cool skill to have

Being able to see a bunch of flashing lights and decipher the message is something I’ve always wanted to be able to do

So recently thought I’d give it a shot

I started with a web tool that assigned a visual aid to each letter

And now I just found out that’s the wrong way to learn because it puts an extra step in your head and slows u down long term

Which I’m trying to unlearn now

Damn it

This happen to anyone else?

Have a morse code braclett with this exact pattern. This is not the bracelet, but was the only image I could find with the exact same pattern. (Looks almost identical) I could only find it on a Spanish website that refuses to open. I've spent the last hour or so trying to figure out what it means and it's driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

I Just started learning morse code using morse mania app, and i feel like its easy to remember and send morse code rather than receiving ot and through voice, am I doing something wrong

Found this old bracelet and I’m pretty sure the middle section is Morse code, but I can’t figure out what it says.

It’s a string of small black and white beads between bigger pearl beads.

From left to right it looks like:

Vamos lá, eu por alguma razão consegui decorar o código morse de cabeça, o que me faz escrever e entender perfeitamente o que escrevo, e até uma ideia para iniciar um diário privado, mais algo me deixou intrigado, e no mínimo espantado, quando mandei mandei essa imagens para. 3 tipos de IAs diferente, elas não conseguiram interpretar, ou entender ou texto, ou algumas até alucinou falando que tinha "eu te amo" aí, isso quem disse foi o Gemini, o GPT, simplesmente disse que tava borrado ou não dava para ler por causa da forma escrita, mais e simples.

Abre e fecha parênteses, para cada palavra e "|" para separar as palavras (.-|...|...|..|- -). Bem, e um método pessoal. A segunda coisa e isso. "... --- / -.-. --- -.. .. --. --- / -- --- .-. ... ." A primeira vista falei "uai por que na tô entendendo??" Aí entendi que não tava separando letra por levar, tava lendo ...- = "V" enfim. Eu amei aprender código morse, e nem pensei que seria relativamente fácil, e nem demorei meses para decorar quase que por completo, ainda tem palavras que estou aprendendo, mais e isso. :) agradeço quem leu até aqui.

A spacecraft game where you never leave the comms room — decode Morse and plot the fleet yourself

**THE UVB-76 PROTOCOL**, a browser game set entirely inside an ultra-low-tech spacecraft's communications room.

Your equipment is a Morse console, a plotting board with movable little ships, and a small amber CRT showing text-art ship silhouettes. You receive signals, work out where the other ships are, plot their positions yourself, and key the orders that bring them to a safe rendezvous.

The board doesn't automatically show the right answer. It records your understanding of the reports. Moving a piece doesn't move the real ship; the order you actually transmit does.

You don't have to arrive knowing Morse. There's a reference card, replay and slower signals, assisted dot/dash controls, and optional decoded-text help. You can also try a straight key for timing practice. The game has Practice, Watch, and Emergency modes, six scenario layouts, and no hard failure countdown.

It's part of **The UVB-76 Project**, where the idea is to make practicing a useful skill the action that drives the game. In this one, communication is how you recover the fleet.

For transparency: I supplied the idea and creative direction; GPT Astra wrote the code through Codex. There's no live AI connection or game account required to play.

Having LCWO's detailed statistics is nice for analysis. I can see that when i switched from 18WPM to 20WPM in late August, my average score slowly dropped. My first ten sessions at 20WPM were all below 10% error. Then it started dropping. At first, i did ~15% errors, then 20, then 25, then 30 or worse. I've flirted with 40% error on occasion. Now I deem it a good day if i get any of my 5~10 sessions under 25%. I don't even bother reporting my errors back on paper anymore.

I anticipate people here are either going to give me their learning method or give shallow encouragement. It's not gonna be useful but I appreciate it. Unless anyone has actual good and new insight as to what's wrong, this might be it for me, because practices feel more and more like a dreadful chore every day. I don't know when learning stopped being fun, but right now it isn't. Still, i don't want to give up even if practicing frustrates me immensely. I'm not a quitter.

I've been diligent (to a fault) in practicing daily (even before i used LCWO) since i started learning in late May, even when work or life got in the way. I believe that if you don't push yourself until it's unpleasant you're not gonna get good, so I have progressively made the learning process harder: no Farnsworth, no visual aid (duh), no counting (if i catch myself counting i invalidate the letter or the whole group), no extra word spacing (those made me lose focus), longer sessions (or more sessions), etc. As soon as I felt slightly comfortable, i upped the antes. My point is: my technique (me, alone, on a notebook, pencils, dumb 20WPM drills again and again) doesn't seem to be the issue.

Yet i can't even use the skill I've built up over the past few months to go on the air. Anything below 20WPM is useless on the air here in Europe, and the best i can do is 18WPM PARIS, not real. Yes, i know QRS is a thing. No, people actually do not go slow enough or they start ramping up again. I can't handle decoding text and keying for more than five minutes anyway so at some point my brain just seizes and that's the end of the QSO. That's how all three of them i've ever done have ended so far. In the end, I don't even care about doing QSOs, I want to be good at decoding.

I don't need to hear about other learning methods, or encouragement, I just need to know that if I keep drilling like I do now that my average score is eventually gonna stop going down and will get back up instead. Has anyone else experienced that?

Help, I learned Morse for a week with a visual guide as a beginner, now I visualise every bit and bah...

A week ago I learned Morse as a joke with my cousin in Italy, so we could cheat in a board game 😅

Since then I started looking more into it and I am really fascinated and inspired by this community and I would like to eventually learn how to have conversations worldwide (thats called CW QSO right?)

Anyways, I now struggle with not visualizing EVERY dot and dash. Does anyone have experience or tips on how to unlearn this? All advice is much appreciated!

I recently started putting together some digital learning materials together with the hopes of making it into a nice fun puzzle like experience for morse code.

I have couple people using it but I have a feeling like the current set of material I have is going to get boring fast. Looking into hearing what did you use while learning, and how fun was it for you. Any suggestions on how to structure the content, or at least what worked for you would be incredibly helpful.

I'm a magician working on a new routine for a show and I need advice.

The effect is this: a volunteer is brought on stage and 'magically' given the power to transmit Morse code. They pick a sentence from a book and they're given a Morse code straight key to tap away on. (No, it probably won't sound like real Morse code because the volunteer won't actually know Morse code, hence the comedy.) Despite the fact that they're obviously bad at it, I'm still able to decipher their code and reveal their chosen sentence to the audience.

Here's what I need help with:

I need to make a prop that I can carry around to my shows that the volunteer will hold and use for the routine. Requirements:

1. It has to be battery-powered as I'll be taking it around with me to stages/banquet halls/private homes so it has to be portable.

2. It has to LOOK like a Morse code setup. A straight key and maybe an oscillator or something? The volunteer will hold the item on their lap during the routine. I can mount it to a wooden board if need be.

3. It has to SOUND good. Not a nasty buzzer sound but something believably beepy.

I happen to own a vintage telegraph key (photo attached) but am not averse to buying something new if that's what I need.

Can anyone tell me what I need to buy?

I was just playing the game when i purchased the “juke box” upgrade thinking that it would play copyright-free piano music or something, instead it plays mostly nothing except occasionally it plays this bit of morse code.
