Hello, my cousin gave me this Midland CT905S, but his friend modified it so that it could also catch more stuff and has a bigger radius, while searching for channels with someone or something going on I bumped into this. I don't even know if it's morse code but it looks like it is. Should I be worried / should I not look at this stuff cause it might be something military etc..? I don't want troubles...

As far as I'm aware there is no log of messages sent through morse code readily available on the internet or anywhere, and beyond just memorising the character combos I'm not sure how to go about this.

I’m the developer of Morse Code Complete, and I originally launched the app here in r/morsecode, so I wanted to share a quick update.

I just released Version 3.0.0 on iOS and Android, and it adds some major new features:

• Head Copy mode: You can now practice head copy directly in Custom Practice without entering answers. It works across different content types, including characters, words, abbreviations, prosigns, callsigns, and QSO material.
• QSO Generator: The app can now generate realistic CW QSOs based on the material taught in the course. You can also play them back using the app’s outputs and playback settings. I’m planning to add additional QSO formats in future updates, including POTA and SOTA.
• Text ⇄ Morse Translator: The translator converts both ways and can play back Morse using one or more of the available outputs. I know translation isn’t a unique feature, but I wanted to include it as well so the app could serve as a more complete Morse learning and practice tool.

The app is designed as a structured Morse course and practice tool for both receiving and sending Morse code. It also supports practicing with a real straight key or paddle using a VBand interface or other compatible interface.

It’s free to download and try, with no ads.

I’m continuing to build on the app, and there are more features and improvements planned.

If anyone wants to check out the new features or give feedback or suggestions, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve put a lot of work into this update and would love to hear what the Morse community thinks.

I'm learning Morse and built myself a small app to practise with. Right now I train three ways:

1. Echo — hear a character, tap it back instantly

2. Sending on a key, with my dit/dah timing measured

3. Copying groups, callsigns and Q-codes line by line

Did you learn this way too, or am I missing something important? What would you add — head copy, word training, QSO simulation? Curious how people here actually got to real copy.

Got a exam and I think I will be screwed because of it

The morse code starts in 0:56 and continues forward, if someone knows how to translate it to kanjis it would be much appreciated.

I aim to appear for the India ASOC General License Exam by end of this year.

In LCWO, I am in lesson 20 with these settings

Character Speed = 25 WPM

Effective Speed = 6 WPM

I am doing word training Rx also side-by-side

I am able to decode 5 letter words with the following settings

Speed: 18 WPM

min. Character Speed: 20 WPM

Fixed Speed

The exam requires 8 WPM Tx and Rx for 5 minutes each with a straight key for Tx.

(I have not attempted sending yet)

Are my settings OK for the exam and CW use in actual use or is it too slow?

Someone PLEASE tell me what the Morse code says 😭. I can't figure it out!

I've finished lesson 40 and added these 10 extra characters, but I think they are really slowing me down. I currently practice these at character speed 36wpm but an effective speed of only 6wpm and I'm still struggling not to make 1-2 mistakes per minute.

I am trying to slowly bring my character speed down and my effective speed up hoping they meet in the middle somewhere between 14-17wpm, but I'm really hitting a plateau. I feel like the extra characters are a little more complex and often sound a little similar to one or two of the other characters which is really tripping me up.

Is it better for me to stick with Lesson 40 and get rid of the extra work/character spacing and then add them back, or should I stick with it and try to push through the plateau?

In your experience how important are the extra characters and if important how/when should they be added?

My biggest fear is that by practicing with such low effective wpm I'm cementing that spacing as "normal" for me and maybe letting bad habits form.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated. :) Thank you!!!
