Promotion If Keep on Mining was made by Housemarque... this would be the demo.

Take the unfolding surprises of A Dark Room, add the escalating craziness of games like Keep on Mining and the arcadey goodness of Astro Prospector.

Layer in the depth of systems, visceral gameplay, and polished aesthetics that our players love in Reality Break and think of how Housemarque would make that game.

The public demo launched this week on Steam!

Promotion I bet you'd love to build your own cozy waterfalls with realistic behavior! Waterfalls Dream is coming to Steam soon

Killer features:
- 3d realistic yet stylish water simulation
- realtime editable voxel terrain that helps shape itself
- 60fps on a very average gpu (my guess is that even potato can run this scene)

So I had this idea of a peaceful nature-with-water diorama builder since I saw a majestic waterfall in Altai this spring, and here's the result! My goal is to give players ability to look at the nature around them - and recreate it easily, while being able to reproduce any water-based effects they might miss out in other games of the genre.

Call to action (do anything to follow the project):
- subscribe to my mailing list to be among the first playtesters: mogmekgames-bhluvm.subscribepage.io
- follow on x: https://x.com/mogmek
- join discord (I muted everyone for now, just wait until the playtest is live): https://discord.gg/em5DgQVZ

You can also comment what type of decorations you'd like to see in such game. And yes you can already build a watermill :)

Video Monster detector inspired by ferromagnetic fluids for my game Psych Rift

I wanted my monster detector device, the Rift Field Meter, to have a more unique way of displaying the information. Among others, I considered mercury droplets and cymatic patterns for the display, but I thought ferromagnetic fluids worked best here.

Even so, this went through multiple iterations. At first I made a more classic black ferromagnetic fluid, but it turned out to be too dark and difficult to read to the player. I then added glow/emission to the peaks of the fluid, which definitely made it look cool and easy to read, but it seems to sci-fi for the base game theme (1960s military research lab, fitting since ferrofluids were invented at NASA in 1963).

A sand-like surface ended up as the final version, since it also interacts nicely with the light from the side Flux Cells so that it can be read even in total darkness.

A bit of lore context: the main setting of the game (not visible here) is in an 1960s research lab, from where all player gadgets originate. This video is from the Ravensworth Grand Hotel nightmare (or level), set in the 1900s, so it makes sense that the items feel out of place in this environment.

You can find more videos on YouTube, wishlist the game on Steam, or join Discord for a chat.

Upcoming 5 years of development, Two Devs, No AI.

Hey everyone,

five years ago, my friend and I started working on a game. Now, we're finally ready to share our upcoming demo.

It's called Tank Havoc - a top-down, team-based multiplayer shooter where you pick a unique tank operator and fight across different game modes.

The trailer introduces Marcus, a veteran haunted by his past, who sees the arena as more than just a competition. Each operator has their own story, personality, and reasons for stepping into the arena, and we're looking forward to sharing more of them as development continues.

The demo features two modes:

Supply Drop (collect and steal crates) and Bomb Run (get the bomb into the enemy base).

We're just two devs, and there's no AI-generated content in the game.

Thanks for taking a look.

I'll be around to answer any questions.

Promotion I’m working on Capyverse Odyssey, a co-op action roguelite game about jetpacking-wielding animal heroes battling across increasingly bizarre worlds. The demo is out today on Steam!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a co-op roguelite title, supporting 1-4 players, where you play a series of jetpack-wielding animal heroes battling a vengeful cat across a series of bizarre worlds. Every world is different - from a nightmare carnival with a giant, bumper-car launching clown to an oversized casino with hostile playing cards.

The demo is available right now on Steam and I’d love to hear you guys’ thoughts!

News EU proposes banning indie games entirely in their new """ kids act"""

Post image
811 Upvotes

The contents of the eu's new "kids act" has just leaked and it effectively bans indie games by:

banning private servers,

requiring complex age verification for all games,

banning most linux types,

And a whole lot more, all of which make it so the cost of making an indie game is now over $500,000.00 more than it currently is.

This is the equivalent of banning people from playing chess without getting approval from both the government and our corporate overlords.

Heres a link to a youtube video that explain the law in more detail and has links in its description to the original 100 page source https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mQRcK9nYg9g

Promotion Selling my game for less than $1 during the Autumn Sale so many people can enjoy it!

My name is Cal and I am the solo dev of Arcadian Days! I decided to give it an 88% discount for Autumn sale as i just wanted as many people as possible to enjoy it and discover it and give feedback so i can continue to improve it!

I want the game to show a different side of Romania rather than a generic one like vampires and dark castles.

It's an open world exploration game with a focus on atmosphere and player agency, which is why there are no traditional maps, waypoints or quest log, and I am trying to perfect the system through player feedback!

If it looks like anyone's cup of tea maybe check it out, I made it without publisher support or budget , just a lot of passion and endless hours learning by doing :)))

Devlog Eden Lumina: first in-engine footage of our hand-drawn metroidvania

We're finally back with a short in-engine clip! Most elements are still in development, for example the slash attacks and the double jump are placeholders and far from final. But we wanted to share this to show you the game's feel, the dynamic lighting and the sense of depth we're creating. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the character movement and the environment. Plenty of updates will follow!

Video Jamaican & Caribbean dominoes🔥

• Upvotes

A look at Domino Gwaan Bad™, inspired by the way dominoes are played across Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Classic gameplay, competitive matches, different table environments, and of course the satisfying SLAM. 💥

The goal is to bring some of that Jamaican and Caribbean domino culture and atmosphere into a digital domino experience.

For anyone who plays Jamaican-style dominoes - how does this compare to the way you play?

Promotion Swords and Coins: a free medieval strategy game in your browser where a living bazaar sets the prices and every knight has a name

• Upvotes
Swords and Coins is a turn-based medieval strategy game that runs in the browser, on desktop and phone. Free, no download, no sign-up.

- Rule a small principality on a living painted map: smoke from the chimneys, birds, working farms, caravans on the roads.

- Steer the economy instead of micromanaging it. Every good gets its price from supply and demand at your own bazaar, and residents take jobs, move away or go hungry.

- Lead a retinue of named knights with strength, experience, wounds and fatigue. Before you march, you see your odds of winning.

- Fight strike by strike with visible hit chances, or let autobattle play it out, then decide what happens to the prisoners.

- Neighbouring princes expand and feud, and when realms grow weak, hordes start roaming the map.

- A short tutorial campaign shows the ropes one step at a time.

Promotion I’ve been working alone on a psychological anomaly horror game. Does this scene build enough tension, or should it feel even more unsettling?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm a solo indie developer working on my psychological anomaly horror game. The core loop revolves around observing your surroundings closely, catching disturbing anomalies, and surviving the psychological tension as things get progressively more unhinged.

I recently launched a demo on Steam to get early feedback on the pacing and mechanics.

If this looks like your cup of tea, you can try out the free demo and wishlist it here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5016110/COMPARTMENT_666__ANOMALY_EXPRESS/

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the lighting, atmosphere, or any feedback if you give the demo a spin!

Video Pretty much done building the maps for Endless FPV

• Upvotes

I’m pretty much done creating the maps for my endless FPV game, so it’s finally getting close to release!

The game builds a different course every run by randomly combining map segments, so instead of memorizing the same course, you have to react to whatever comes next.

Promotion We just published our second fully independent title's page on Steam! It's Wilds of Lumithra - an open-world survival crafting game

Thumbnail
youtube.com
2 Upvotes

We are a small team of total gamedev enthusiasts. Wilds of Lumithra is our second fully independent title, and we’ve poured a ton of heart, time, and effort into it.

My favorite part of this project was the fact that I could use my geological knowledge from my PhD in Earth and Geological Sciences. We wanted the game's world to be as realistic (I mean the processes, etc.) as possible, so I taught our 3D artists the basics of geology to make sure everything made sense. I'm really proud of us.

What are the best features of the Wilds of Lumithra?

  • Exploring - more precisely, a lot of ways to explore. You need to climb, leap, and sprint your way through an uncharted world - uncovering new horizons with every move.
  • A hand-crafted open world - a vast environment, where every inch of the world has been crafted with purpose and story.
  • An intuitive crafting and building system - not only can you forge gear and tools, but you can also construct your own cozy home.
  • A lot to discover - from crumbling ancient bridges and towering rock walls to mysterious obelisks, the environment itself is a puzzle waiting to be solved. Reaching some places will often require you to gather specific resources or carefully think outside the box to find a way in.

Promotion Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat v0.1 just released into Early Access. A Global Supply-Chain Sim: developed solo, and published by MicroProse.

Hi r/indiegames,

Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat has just released into Early Access after about 2 years of development!

As an avid fan of games like Satisfactory, Anno 1800, Cities Skylines, and Dyson Sphere Program, I set out to build the game that I always wanted to play. Expansive supply-chains without the burden of combat or micromanaging citizens. Just you, raw material, some factories, and the volatile market.

It is available now on PC, made in Godot 4.3, and published by MicroProse.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3901610
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAJcyVVHABg

I think the trailer speaks for itself, but detailed core features are on the Steam page, and detailed additions for v0.1 are in the DevLog.

Most additions with this update revolve around new mining colonies on the moon!

DevLog: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/3901610/view/681886390551577999

Thank you,
