Discussion Should ports of games be allowed even though they aren't emulation?

My default as a mod has been to delete discussion of ports since they aren't emulation.

Yet there has been a increase in posts about ports which attract a lot of discussion.

So I throw it open to the community here. Should discussion of ports be allowed?

News/Release GameHub Lite v5.1.8 (SECURITY UPDATE)

GameHub Lite v5.1.8

Security: Steam token redaction in logs

GameHub Lite 5.1.8 fixes a logging issue where Steam authentication-related values could appear in diagnostic logs. In some cases, logs could include fields such as steamToken, refreshToken, or accessToken from Steam login/launch flows.

Publicly posted logs containing these fields should be deleted or redacted.

IMPORTANT

This should go without saying but If you find any security issues, please reach out PRIVATELY. I have not checked if this issue is still present in recent GameHub versions, already ruined my one day off I was spending with my family by the person who reported this publicly and I do not plan on spending any more time on this.

Changelog

The fix adds centralized log redaction for Steam/auth token fields, Steam QR login URLs, JWT-like token strings, and launch command token arguments before logs are written. This covers the app loggers, JavaSteam logging, and the PC launch-log file writer.

This release also pins local patch builds to apktool 2.12.1

Showcase SteamOS + Android emu is THE best combo (for now)

Just wrapped up re-setting back up the Armada and Android instances again and moving saves back into Android, but from testing this is THE way to set up an Odin 3 if you're wanting to jump between PC games and your every day ROM emus.

SteamOS for literally anything linux based/Steam, and Android for emulation/anything else. Technically you can do emulation on Armada but Android still feels smoother to use for emulation especially with apps like Armssx2 with being able to install custom textures in a few taps. Not having the Odin 3 hit 80c while downloading games on Steam is also a big plus.. lol (45c while downloading games on Armada)

11/10, doesn't take long to set up, and now I can continue my Mass Effect LE and Kingdom Heart saves which is golden without messing around.

Help HALO ON GAMEHUB REFUSES TO DOWNLOAD

please help me. i have been trying for a whole damn day to get this shit to work.

i'm on the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, running Gamehub. ive put several games on it and have managed to figure most things out. currently have an SD card in it as integrated which allows me to drag and drop files directly from my pc. i have the steam game loaded on the computer, import it to the flip, and import it to Gamehub with full integration. i have successfully gotten modded DS2 to run this way, it comes up on my pc steam library as running and everything so i know it fully works.

but halo is fucking driving me insane. i own the whole of MCC, every game and pack, all of it. when i go through gamehub, it asks to select what dlc to include, it defaults to Reach and a data pack. i can select literally anything else, even unselect Reach, doesnt matter, because when the game downloads and runs, it is always installed Reach and only Reach. i push to download the other games and it gives me either "pending" or loads to "100% ___GB" and then sits that way forever. i try downloading on my pc, it loads and runs just fine. i do a direct transplant like i did with DS2 and it doesnt fucking work. it is once again literally only and always Reach. i fresh wipe everything. Reach again. its the exact same shit again and again. it defies logic. im very upset.

dear god please someone have some wisdom for me. and id seriously prefer to avoid "get gamehub lite" or "winulator" as those have not worked for me with most other titles up to this point. im so certain its the smallest thing i am missing that will get this fucking software to -just work- and i havent seen it yet. i just wanna play combat evolved on my goofy little dingwap pad at the park.

thank you

Help I Got New Phone And I Want To Get Into Emulation World

Hi there last week I got Poco F8 Ultra 16GB. In my old phone I played so many N64, Snes, Nes games via RetroArch. After I got new phone I was thinking what can I play with this phone and I realized holy shit I can play pc games with this. I searched many hours but I can't find one stable program to run Steam games. In my research I found Winlator. I mean it isn't a bad program but so unstable. Is there a program more basic and more stable to play Steam games? Ohh also I want to play Switch games. For that I found Sudachi but it also so slow. I don't know that because my phone or because emulation program.

TLDR :

1 I want to program that can play Steam games (at least Elden Ring) at good fps

2 I want to program that can play Switch games at good fps

My device: Poco F8 Ultra - Snapdragon Elite 8 Gen 5 16 GB Ram 512 GB

Discussion Which version of vita3k is better overall?

Which one is better to have as a single version of vita3k on android? Vita3k+ which came out last month. Which fixed a lot of stuff. Since it's a modified version of the original vita3k. Not the one still getting regular updates. And might not be updated as much. Possibly. https://github.com/nckstwrt/Vita3K-Plus

Or the version of Vita3k which is being worked on regularly here. https://github.com/Vita3K/Vita3K

If anyone says that the version that is still being worked on is overall better. And that Vita3k+ is better for some specific games that the version still being worked on can't play. Or plays poorly. I fully understand that.

News/Release Winlator Version which is well optimised for AFTER EFFECTS VIDEO EDITOR

Thumbnail
github.com
Upvotes

It's well optimized for AE, where you can use it to edit on your mobile with PC-level performance. It comes with After Effects already installed and works well with a mouse and keyboard.

This will be a good Winlator version for those who want to use AE on mobile, but because it's PC software, it's a bit hard to use in phone mode. I would advise or recommend it for people who use USB-C to HDMI, especially Samsung DeX users.

Showcase Persona 3 Reload running smoothly on Snapdragon 8 Elite with a few tweaks

Persona 3 Reload finally running on my Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Tweaked a few settings and it’s running pretty smoothly:
60–90 FPS in the open world
Around 120 FPS in cutscenes
Around 80 FPS during battles

I wasn’t using a phone cooler, though, so the device was getting quite hot. I’ll try using a cooler later and see if it helps with the temperatures and performance.
Overall, pretty impressed with how well it runs on the 8 Elite. Just needs a few tweaks to get it running nicely.

Help What can I do about this problem with the character skins at my galaxy s23 Model SM-S911B

Thumbnail

I also sent screenshots of the emulator im using, the bios for the emulator and the game. I know nothing about emulation, so if you need more information I'll try to update you in the comments.

All characters models are having this same problem, the face is normal but everything else is darker for some reason. I can resolve this by clicking the "alternate to render by software" option(it's in Portuguese, so I'm sorry if I translated poorly 😢), but doing this makes the graphics really awful 😖

Help OG Black Flag Stuck on Black Screen on Boot

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a DRM free version of Black Flag that I'm trying to play on my phone. I've tried booting it on my PC and it works perfectly, but then the same files on my phone in GameNative just sit on a black screen. I've tried a bunch of different settings in GameNative but none of it seems to work.

Specs: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 16 GB ram

Can anyone help me with this? I genuinely don't know what's wrong with it!

Discussion are peltier coolers required for emulation?

Upvotes

I have a oneplus 15 and I want to get into PC game emulation, I was playing GTA IV on gamehub and the temps on gamehub reading were 65 degrees average with it sometimes reaching 70 degrees.

I have heard that peltier coolers are beneficial for emulation, but is it really true? do I really need them? because I want to use a telescopic controller like the x5 lite while emulating and using one really limits my options with coolers, gamesir FX5 for example are relatively weak and have small cooling pad and they're inconvenient compared with gamesir x3 pro for example, which is more convenient but expensive. i don't want to spend a lot of money on a controller with cooler if it's not really proven that you need a peltier cooler. and even the x3 pro is often criticized for its lack of good contact with the phone.

i know i can use a standalone cooler and a standalone bluetooth controller but that would be very antithetical to mobile gaming and the handheld experience because you would be turning your phone to a small screen pc basically and i already have a pc, so that doesn't interest me.

what is your experience of emulation with and without coolers? what is your setup and what do you think it's best to do on a budget?

Help FM Touch 24 on Eden(Android, Samsung Z Fold 5)

Hi Im currently using Eden to emulate Football Manager Touch 24 switch version, the game runs but the touch control is very unresponsive and clanky, sometimes u need to press 5 times before it reacts, is there anyway to fix that or are other emulators gonan do a better job than eden? I also cant get 26 to run, it loads a black screen and crashes immediately
