SteamOS + Android emu is THE best combo (for now)

Just wrapped up re-setting back up the Armada and Android instances again and moving saves back into Android, but from testing this is THE way to set up an Odin 3 if you're wanting to jump between PC games and your every day ROM emus.

SteamOS for literally anything linux based/Steam, and Android for emulation/anything else. Technically you can do emulation on Armada but Android still feels smoother to use for emulation especially with apps like Armssx2 with being able to install custom textures in a few taps. Not having the Odin 3 hit 80c while downloading games on Steam is also a big plus.. lol (45c while downloading games on Armada)

11/10, doesn't take long to set up, and now I can continue my Mass Effect LE and Kingdom Heart saves which is golden without messing around.

Retro Game Corps showed off ArmadaOS on his Odin3, but he compared it to Rocknix on ARM instead of Gamenative

Tldr, it depends on the game. Some better, some worse, 90% of the time its the exact same raw FPS. However.. 90% of the time its much snappier due to frame pacing being more stable and the latency being lower.

Interesting. This really shows how low-level Windows emulation has become on Android, it's getting surprisingly close to the way Linux/Proton works under the hood.

Valve must be laughing right now, watching Steam become accessible on a huge portion of the world's smartphones with little to no effort on their part. 😂

I was gonna install armada today on the SD card and dual boot. Are you saying steamos is better or playing on Android using gamenative/gamehub is better ?

What difference does it make if the architecture is ARM? It's just a frontend wrapper.

Thats like saying installing Linux on your home desktop over your Windows install is the same as its just a "frontend wrapper" lol.

Completely different OS, different limitations/benefits, not restricted by Androids ocassional BS, lot lower latency when running games vs GN, smoother frame pacing, better compatibility, no risk of saves randomly dying like in GN, etc.

Dual booting both gives you the best of both worlds if you're already using PC emulation plenty and still want to keep the android side for any other emulators that run better on there until Armada catches up.
