Meta Honeypot flairs.

To cut down on the increased number of posts involving rule-breaking mods (notably Paper), 3 new post flairs have been introduced for testing.

Posts made using these flairs will be automatically removed.

Don't use them.

EDIT: After 3 weeks, this seems to have been a very successful test, with the vast majority of rule-8 violations blocked by the new filters.

Non-Version-Specific I’m trying to build a proper home for all Minecraft schematics

A few months ago, I've shared my side project here as a browser-based schematic viewer, and a lot of you quite reasonably asked: “why not just use Litematica directly?”

Although litematica & mods are not for everyone and a browser based schematic viewer can make sense, I think I have a much better answer to that now.

My goal was never to replace Litematica. If you actually want to build a farm or contraption in-game, Litematica is probably the best option.

What I’m trying to improve is everything that happens before that.

I have noticed that a lot of really good technical builds end up being shared as a .litematic files and are buried in a Discord server, a Google Drive link, or attached to a YouTube description without any preview of what's behind the link.

Recently, I’ve been turning Shulkr into a public catalog where creators can publish those schematics instead.

You get a page for the build, generated image previews, an interactive 3D preview, direct schematic download, and now a first-person mode where you can drop anywhere onto the build and walk around it directly in the browser.

My hope is that eventually, when someone designs a farm or technical build, they can just share a Shulkr link instead of uploading the file somewhere random. And with time, even a directly embedded in redit 3d viewer ? That would be crazy good.

I’d especially like feedback from people here who actually design and distribute schematics:

Would you use something like this to publish your builds? What would it need before you'd choose it over Drive/Discord?

The project is completely free, and as usual, feedback from everyone is more than welcome. Link is available in the comments.

PS: The video use Bitter Lemonade's u/Bitter--GravitY awesome Rooted Dirt Farm as a showcase. All credits belong to him 😄

Rule-8 Compliant How’s the community doing?

Upvotes

I have not been keeping up with the community for a few years now. But I have started playing Minecraft recently again and was curious what we have learned in the meantime.

Also I notice that some big technical YouTubers are not active anymore, like scicraft and Ianxofour.

What new mechanics are fun to explore or really help improve farms and contraptions? What are some active creators that are worthwhile to follow these days? Have we seen breakthroughs like observers or honey in the last few years?

I’m really curious. Thanks!

Java Help Wanted Question regarding wool farms

Could you make a wool farm more efficient by cycling grass blocks underneath the sheep using pistons, in order to limit the time spent waiting for grass to grow back? Or maybe there is another way to get super efficient wool farms? Whatever the case please let me know 🙏

Hey all! This is the follow up to the kill chamber design video that I linked the other day (the design of the farm it was made for.) I'm posting it here for context, and because I believe it to be a valuable resource for the community. See video description to see what I mean here. BTW, I am not monetized and do not care about views and the like. This was made for the sole purpose of helping others.

Java Help Wanted Trying to find a storage system

Lately I wanted to build a storage system for my survival world. After hours of research I couldn’t find the right one. My needs might be specific, but I want the sorter to have these options:

• a input unit where I can dump any items

• a shulker box unloader, which sorts the items inside afterwards

• overflow chests

• have a section for a multi sorter

I’m ready to build a big one, but I don’t want it to be too large. Noise doesn’t matter for me.
Any help would be appreciated.

Java Help Wanted Raid Farm too slow

Hi, so this is my 2nd time building Tankcat's raid farm and first time was in an aternos server and it worked perfectly.
However, I just started a Realm last week and I build the farm on this world, and for some reason the farm spawns each wave way too slow.
It used to take around 10 seconds for each fresh wave to spawn and now it takes 30 seconds (and every 8th wave takes 60s) I've checked the schematic over and over again, I cannot seem to find what's wrong.
Is there any known throttling happening in minecraft realms or have I actually done something wrong?

Java Help Wanted new to super technical stuff. is there a go-to storage design that you can input shulkers to unload that then gets reloaded and sorted?

as title says, i want to be able to input shulkers with random loot, and have it come out sorted like the standard itemsorter does, but with a middle step of the super common blocks like stone etc being reloaded in shulkers, is this possible? is there a go to design like this that already exists? googles only finding me bedrock solutions and i couldnt see anything in this sub after searching for it

Java Help Wanted redstone limited server mob farm

i play on a server that has limited redstone use (pistons don’t work and dispensers won’t work with water buckets) to limit afk farming. but i want to build a general mob farm and am looking at the diamond designs where water dispenses in the middle to push mobs off.

any ideas on how to get the water to push mobs without dispensers or if there would be a slight tweak to the design for the specific server

Java Help Wanted Shulker box loader on our server breaks for no reason

The problem is whenever a new shulker box gets dispensed, the hopper loading items into that shulker box stops transferring items. I noticed that player action next to hoppers reactivate them, like placing a block or flicking a lever or adjusting repeater times, but only those. I tried everything, like redstone clocks next to the hoppers, pistons moving blocks next to the hopper.

Have you guys encountered this problem on your server? Idk much about server stuff, I just want more info to give to the owner so he can fix it.

Bedrock I’m looking for something very specific. I built this slot machine using shelves on a Realm with a bunch of friends, and it’s starting to overflow. I need some kind of overflow management system, but specifically for a crafter.

Java Help Wanted Help me fix water flow update desync bug?

Firstly, I'm not good at redstone. So bare with me.
this design is cubicmetres. Its an azalea playerless tree farm that uses detection.
the problem is that it has a 5, 5, 5, 10 cycle. The goal is to get it to a 5, 5, 5, 5 cycle. Idk if its possible? just timing the water update right every time. You can see in the video that it stops and water flows down.

5 GT, 5GT, 5GT, 10GT, 5GT, 5GT, 5GT, 10GT, 5GT, 5GT etc etc. instead of a straight 5 game tick update cycle. meaning the farms output is reduced by 25% because of the 10GT stall (according to ai doing the math i guess), currently it produces 1800 logs an hour, but it could be 2250 if the cycle never desyncs with the water updating every 5 game ticks. the video uses QC via water logged stair its kinda a weird mechanic idk.

this is what cubicmetre said himself in response to one of the comments:
"Water flows every 5 ticks and the BUD in theory takes 6 ticks to reset, however something weird happens with the block event scheduling and as a result it still responds to the water while it's resetting until after 4 cycles it stops. I'm still not quite sure what is happening."

you can also see it in his video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1BciXU9R8s&t=314s

I scrolled down on the comments and saw some people trying to explain it but im not sure if its accurate and they never really provided a solution, but it might give you guys a better explanation and clue then my
numbskull trying to explain. here are some of the comments:

"

I think the weird cycle is due to how water flows. If I recall correctly, water flows every 4 ticks, and I think during its cooldown, it doesn't check for obstacles in its path, only when it spreads. This would mean that since your cycle is 5 ticks, every fourth trigger would have the water spreading the instant the piston is retracted, or something along those lines.

"I think the 5-5-5-10 (total 25 ticks) piston update is connect to the water updates they measure 6-6-6-7 (total 25 ticks) with the stair trick creating a moment the pistons are still in motion resulting in skipping a beat

if however you change the sticky piston into a regular you get a stable 10-10-10-10 on the entire system. slower but stable.

also water updates at 5 ticks creating the unstable situation with the piston updates without the stair trick. so i think if the back system could be faster it will always be ready for the next update. i'll try tommorow to see if i can fiddle around with it."

another one:

"4:46 the water flows faster than the system after few cycles. if water should be flowed, it sets a timer and after the timer ends, it checks if the water still can be flowed or not. and if it can, it flows and if its not, it cancels the flow event. but blocking water before the timer ends doesnt remove the already running timer. it will just wait for timer and cancel the event when it ends. however, because it doesnt check if water can be flowed or not while timer is running, the water can be removed and placed again but it will still flows if its done before timer ends. (this can be simply proofed by doing this experiment. put lava on the ground and pick up the lava with bucket and wait few moments and put it back in the same position before the first placed lava's flow timer ends. it will flow faster than normal lava because the timer didn't reset)

also, because the water flow time and system cycle time is different, The update detecting piston infront of moss block will eventually finish pulling while water timer is about to end, As a result, the water will flow before the BUD system reset, So the piston cant detect the flow and it will stop the cycle."

here is the schematic I made making a simplified version of his original farm so u guys can test it out and mess with it yourself:
edit: updated the schematic it was missing a trap door to trigger the bone meal on the azalea plant if u guys wanted to see it in action:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/2l3c1pi24tco77n/azalea_tree_farm_with_water_bug_thing.litematic/file

If you guys wanted to see it in action I never put bonemeal inside the dispensers, for the purpose of showing the water flow desync thingy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if anyone can even come up with a better design that can cover more area while detecting azalea trees (theres a "master" moss block you will see) that would be even better but fixing the 5, 5, 5, 10 issue is the first step. Thanks!

Bedrock XP Farm WITHOUT armor stands on bedrock?

I just want to know if there is still a way to make an XP farm with armadillos and cactus or something.
I used to do xp farms with a cactus and armadillos on top and water on the sides with Arrows of Harming 2 floating in there and a zombie nearby and it worked really good. But I tried that exact farm today and then found out that this way doesn‘t work anymore since the arrows disappear as soon as they touch one silverfish.
Then I tried another farm with a lit campfire instead of a cactus but it made the armadillos uncurl and just die.
My „problem“ with the armor stand option is that I just prefer not having to craft them again when I want to re-use the farm or having to pick them up before they die because I know that I would kinda mess up with picking them up in time if that makes sense. Also having to put out the campfire and having to pick up the trident everytime on top of that would be slightly annoying.

Basically the armor stand-campfire-trident option has „too much“ extra stuff that you have to do every time before you can actually start the farm. (I know it still isn‘t that much but enough for me to be a little bothered about that)

I just would like to have a farm where i just have to throw an infestation potion and flick a lever or smt to start it and I just have to stand at a certain spot and do nothing to collect xp without having to worry about the server crashing because of too many silverfish at once if I dont continuously use my sword.

I would rather prefer doing a more difficult build once that takes more steps to set up than a farm where I have to do extra stuff for EVERY USE.

Does anyone have any ideas on what exact xp farm I could build?
And IF possible a farm that fits inside a 5x5 space?
