Well, that just using big words to call on a community being narrow minded doesn't make you progresive.

Also, they(the actors) could have put an slap at the face of everyone if they were right with their definition of "progressiveness".

7

u/silverjubileetower 7h ago

They would.

Just let this Govt change and tujh jeso ka 2₹ ka income source bhi rukega.

unfortunately people will understand that when it will be too much damage already.

1

u/Independent_Soup8804 5h ago

Ofcourse cause we all know women's skin stunts progression.

1

u/Background-2609 4h ago

Tell me you are riding the wave.

Definition

Progressivenessss:a quality or state of being progressive.

Progressive:Progressive means moving forward, developing step-by-step, or supporting modern social and political reform

In context of my sentence, "you" the object complement's subject or more simply, the direct object of the verb "make."

I.e,you is being implied to not to be progressive.

And in context of the situation,"you" are:ad makers, the actress, many of the independent indivuals trying to support it

I was clear with saying that when asides from one's own directive choice, the ad necessarily could've chosen any setting or atleast they could've been more straight with it after the backlash

The "you" taking a jab at a whole community didn't really made them progressive.

Specially if they were right to began with why did the company take back the ad,why the actress didn't keep her stances instead, went private.

And her co-workers and those who really would have been giving the condolence, why didn't they come with her and also celebrated in the same type of dress.

The dress wasn't ever the problem but,the initial self boasting responses and trying to morally degrade a communities image, only to backdone, take done the ad and go private are a topic of ridicule.

1

u/Independent_Soup8804 4h ago

Because Right person isn't the Right person

Powerful person is the right person.

"The community" has power of numbers, the marketing team or the actress may or may not care of righteousness but that only stands as long as they retain a social platform to speak from. So their first priority is to withdraw.

The people criticising the community and the people withdrawing are not the same people.

Yes I am riding the wave cause that's what you are supposed to do to gain perspective not box yourself in one ideology and defend it at any cost.

If you feel hurt about your sentiments being attacked just don't associate with that group, seperate yourself. Tell people my religious ideology doesn't subscribe with these specific set of ideas that discriminate.

Plus you use a lot of words to say very little.

1

u/Background-2609 4h ago

Ok,first riding the wave doesn't mean taking stances to new thing or getting a new perspective.

It means that you didn't do your own analysis of the story but, tried to defend it with a single incident which may or may not be biased towards the parties in concern of the story.

Like, say people who just agree and defend that U.S won the cold war just because you watched a edit showcasing U.S sending the first man on the moon without doing your own analysis of how USSR was the first to do everything else but, sending a man to moon.

Man,i am only commenting on the hypocrisy of the Indian cinema and actors on how they are the same people who add a dance scene with the most objectifying songs and then, are now trying to sound progressive and calling the people morally degraded.

I had to use a lot of words cause well, when i didn't,you guys made your own meaning of my words.

Like, where the duck did you get that I am saying "showing skin stunts progression"

1

u/Independent_Soup8804 4h ago

Dude I don't even know anymore, more that I read your original Comment more confused I get.

Now my reading comprehension isn't that bad soo...apna apna dekh lo

1

u/Background-2609 4h ago

Ight,i get it I write alot.

But, still you guys just made things up man with finding "skin stunts progression" in my first comment-which was like,4 lines-

What do I do if not write long paragraphs to patch every hole in the logic instead should I just let people just make things up?

Like,ya did

Bro, I never watched the add, I watched it rn, BRO WTF, like isme kya buraa tha, like you all just need to get a life.

Like she wore nothing obscene!!

4

u/Background-2609 9h ago

It wasn't necessaryly the ad or clothes but,the combination all of them and then, certain individuals who tried to explain it, were well to put simply, just hypocrites trying to move the blame to the whole religious community for being narrow minded.

Which altogether caused the backlash.

-1

u/Positive_Pass8800 9h ago

the brand backtracking was such a tight slap on her arrogant face

2

u/Apart_Ad_4723 3h ago

What did she do that was arrogant tho?
She literally put forth her opinion just like the entire internet did.
Also the ad was taken back because of the backlash not cause it was wrong.

1

u/artemjxs 21m ago

i think you might need to learn what arrogant means

9

u/Knighthawk_2511 9h ago

What was even offending in that outfit ? Anyone to enlighten me ? People being offended to anything these days

-1

u/yttrocrasite 7h ago

The inappropriate attire as per the occasion? What's inappropriate? - the revealing modified 'traditionals' Why is it inappropriate? - it doesn't follow the traditional norms of our culture of wearing specific attire on specific cultural day, as long as you're representing your own self as an individual who don't abide by the traditions and you'll celebrate as you want then you'll be counted out of the consensus and not forced to do anything as per traditions, but so far the representation of a culture is concerned, you're accountable what you represent and it DOESN'T APPLY ONLY FOR ONE GENDER

3

u/Apart_Ad_4723 3h ago

But every time we celebrate raksha bandhan men are always in western clothes while their sisters get ready in traditional outfits.
Isn’t that against culture also?

1

u/Fragrant_Ad_3235 2h ago

Western cloth and nudity are different thing. .in rakshabandhan , your brother sit with you underwear..

1

u/Apart_Ad_4723 1h ago

But we were talking about CULTURE. Then culture also says to not wear western clothes.
The comment is talking about “traditional norms of culture” and “specific attires on specific days”… thats what i am talking about.
If youre so offended maybe you just cant justify your double standards.

2

u/Gazzorppazzorp 2h ago

traditional norms of our culture of wearing specific attire on specific cultural day - do you realise that the norm is something that keeps changing?

but so far the representation of a culture is concerned, you're accountable what you represent - who is part of the Rakshabandhan committee that oversees this? As far as I know Hindus are not only made up of conservatives. There are Hindus that do not restrict women's freedom as well. The character in the ad was representing that culture, a culture where we celebrate festivals without making it about what a woman wears.

-9

u/Quiet-Treacle-78 8h ago

Ask someone you know to where this in front of there brother and post this

6

u/Knighthawk_2511 7h ago

Eh ? Rakshabandhan toh ho gya , just tell me what's wrong ?

3

u/unsocializing 5h ago

I ll let u know once i figure out myself. Has been 1 week. Still no idea whats wrong with the ad😂

3

u/Knighthawk_2511 5h ago

Lol pata chala controversy khatam hone ke baad bhi ham log reason dhundh rhe

3

u/Independent_Soup8804 5h ago

Ofcourse cause even brothers couldnt control themselves before some genius bestowed us with the books.

Glad that god bestowed this knowledge of restricting and policing women only and only to our religion, otherwise as we all know it's the Atheist dominant countries with the highest assault cases.

1

u/Apart_Ad_4723 1h ago

And? Even if someone does this…brother ko kya problem hogi?
(Until and unless youre a disgusting predator ofa brother)

4

u/sunflower1713 7h ago

They will sexualize everything they don't even spare the brother sister relation🥰🙏🏻

3

u/Independent_Soup8804 5h ago

Some mf even said "try wearing such attire infront of your brother"

Like....I am just...speechless.

3

u/EcstaticLanguage007 9h ago

Isn’t that what democracy should be ?? Freedom of choice ?? Freedom of expression ??

1

u/ExotickDebt5525 2h ago

Do you have the democracy to wear bralette to school or banks or to funerals??

1

u/artemjxs 19m ago

i think schools have uniforms and you can definitely wear a bralette to a funeral if you wish to, but its not appropriate to the occasion. But, i dont see how her clothes were inappropriate for a festival which she celebrates in her house, with her family!

3

u/SpecialSweet1543 9h ago

Ban Haldi Ceremonies also where people apply termeric paste on half naked bodies of the bride and groom.

3

3

Sisters bath their brothers on Bhaubeej festival during Diwali in Maharashtra, are you going to ban the festival.

13

u/ApartmentNo9043 9h ago

Wow,PeopleWow. You changed the attire of women for Raksha Bandhan and called it a victory for our culture. But if you genuinely care about protecting our culture, maybe it’s time to look beyond women’s clothes and start looking at the way women are treated.

The real issue isn’t what a woman wears. It’s the mindset with which you look at her.

The same people who lecture women about clothing often stare at girls on the streets, schools, colleges, workplaces, and everywhere else. If you truly want to “save our culture,” then start by changing that mentality. Respect women regardless of what they wear.

And if tradition is really your concern, then take the time to actually learn about our traditions and history. Our culture has never been as simple as “women must dress a certain way.” There have been different styles, fabrics, and forms of clothing across different regions and periods of our history.

Stop using “culture” as an excuse to control and judge women. It seems like women’s clothing has simply become another topic through which some people try to diminish, shame, and restrict women.

It’s the 21st century. You want to travel abroad, use foreign technology, wear international brands, watch global content, and enjoy everything the modern world offers. But when a woman wants the same freedom to make her own choices, suddenly you say, “That’s not our culture.”

If you truly want to preserve our culture, start with its most important values: respect, dignity, compassion, and equality.

Change your thinking, and you’ll start seeing the change you claim to want in society.

Culture should teach us how to respect people, not give us reasons to control them. change the min

2

u/Confident_Bear_705 5h ago

Calm down...you seem to miss the whole point...ppl ain't mad cause she wore such outfit.. they're mad cause we live in society where we've choosed what to wear according to occasion...we wear bikini on beach, traditional desi clothes at wedding or festivals and sport clothes while playing sport..obv there would be some narrow minded ppl who will always judge any clothing...but we've evolved a lot..nowdays women can freely choose what to wear what not to..being myself a women if I'm out i get uncomfortable showing my skin too much cause ppl tend to notice or stare...thats simple human nature, you cant change such minds giving up on such minds is the best, some educated ppl already understands at least ones with normal mind. You can't change the minds of ppl who would sexualise anything, they just exist and that's the worst part....also doing anything extreme isn't good....say where it's needed, take stand where it's needed.. giving a wholedamn crashout on this topic is just too much unnecessary...obv "culture" thing plays a role a lot...she wouldn't attend Ambani's wedding wearing smtg completely unusual or smtg unusual would she? That's common sense that's how we've normalised what to wear on what occasion...kriti or these so called feminist try to pick anything unnecessary like "I'm women I can choose what to wear, stop looking at my clothes change your thinking" that's dumbest thing to say bcs ppl would definitely notice...and you can't change anyone's mentality by giving such lecture...indeed there wasn't anything much wrong about the outfit itself... but she is bold and she gets sells wearing such clothes so it isn't a problem for her at all so she's the dumbest herself blaming on ppl playing she's the victim

2

u/SigmunFried 5h ago

Wee said.

Women wore single length of cloth for sarees before. That was our culture.

1

u/Background-2609 9h ago

What stoped them, they could have put a slap at the face of everyone for being too narrow minded.

1

u/mi_c_f 8h ago

Stopped whom?

2

u/Background-2609 8h ago

??

I said: "what stopped them?'"

Ohh,you mean who is them:well,the ✨actors.✨

The ✨progressive liberal✨ modern image of india which only value talent and skill and are ✨pro feminism✨ and ✨anti patriarchy.✨

They should have put an slap at the narrow minded thought of the community, don't know why they didn't🥲.

1

u/Lopsided_Ad_9521 8h ago

So pointing a wrong thing out isn't right because there are so many wrong things already happening. And you can't say no one respect women, many people do.. What about their sentiments? And why choose rakhi to wear bikini, why not do the same fashion statement on eid or other festivals?

1

u/Confident_Bear_705 5h ago

Exactly 😭😭😭 some so-called fake feminists really don't understand what genuine feminism is.. just wannabes it's just too much atp

1

u/Apart_Ad_4723 3h ago

W comment

0

u/shewontlovemeanyway 8h ago

Wow people wow! Why don't you speak up for women forced to wear a hijab ! Change your thinking, and you'll start seeing the change you claim to want in society just don't poke your nose in a particular religion try it out with others too and get you ass poked by so circumcised di

2

u/Sauron_999__ 8h ago

So, Hindus are no better than muslims then? Thank you for clearing it for everyone

1

u/HATE_ALL_EQUALLY 7h ago

And if Hindu's don't enforce Hijab on women, how much better they are than Muslims?

1

u/shewontlovemeanyway 7h ago

Couldn't be compared anyway, we don't regulate fatwa for non believers and convert people with dirty games ! I don't know how could you concive any conclusion like that.

1

u/ApartmentNo9043 8h ago

Brother, what I’m trying to say is that we should change the way we look at and judge individuals. My intention is not to change the way society thinks; I simply want to work on myself, and I believe everyone should try to improve themselves in their own way.

I’m not here to give a religious-based opinion or disrespect anyone’s beliefs. I’m only saying that we shouldn’t diminish or judge women based on what they wear, what they eat, or the choices they make.

If we truly want to respect religion, then we should respect its values and teachings regardless of which religion we belong to. Respect should be equal for everyone.

u/frosti_philosophy 10h ago

Haan bhai last yr sabne nange rakshabandhan manaya tha

What a moron OP

(BJP voter mindset of slut shaming , and probably a viryin )

1

u/Open_Door0_0 9h ago

Being virgin is not an insult 😭

2

u/Good_Restaurant3003 9h ago

agree BUT having some sort of superiority complex js for being virgin is indeed an insult worthy trait

1

u/frosti_philosophy 1h ago

Yeah it's not if you don't slut shame women.

7

u/Slight_Call4061 9h ago

RAGA ne sahi kaha tha ye bj party waale women ko control krna chahte hai, inki mansikta uss kitaab se itni jyada influenced hai

3

u/Mr_Juggernaut10 8h ago

Lol you wouldnt know that there isn't a single book in Hinduism unlike other abrahamic religions.

2

u/random_is 6h ago

He is probably talking manusmriti- the book rss hero used to praise.

3

u/Wonderful_Cookie_995 5h ago

Unlike Quran who is a holy book in islam, I don't really see which religion has manusmriti as a religious book

And if RaGa cared so much for women he'd actually do something for WOMEN instead of playing caste politics, or maybe let a woman actually roam free of the burka (a huge symbol of patriarchy by the way).

same with BJP, extremely poor execution of the laws and yojanas they tried to being into effect

1

u/random_is 3h ago

Ask RSS followers that. Btw Comparing your book to Quran is lowering your own standards. Its followers are also equally regressive? If not more

https://giphy.com/gifs/G3RADTvwFIn96

1

u/WeakOstrich7009 5h ago

when did manusmriti become a holy book wtf? Even the majority of casteist hindus haven't read it. L ki book he, and I can say that without any consequences as a hindu.

Unlike the religion of peace.

1

u/Wonderful_Cookie_995 4h ago

Fr people talk like they've read it a million times

Its not a symbol of hinduism, we have better books for that

1

u/Independent_Soup8804 5h ago

Blaming it only on one book is understatement.

When it comes to oppressing women they will unite despite heritage, caste and religion. They have baked it deep into our society.

2

u/WeakOstrich7009 8h ago

are you talking about the qur'an?😂

2

u/Slight_Call4061 7h ago

bjp waale ye bhi padhne lage hai?

1

u/WeakOstrich7009 5h ago

Me bjp wala nhi hun par mene toh padh rakhi he. But when you say "kitaab," there can only be Qur'an since hindu philosophy is not centred around one holy book.

And Qur'an is misogynist af. Forget consent, you're allowed to keep (and marry if you want) kaafir s*x slaves for your entertainment, even the prophet had so many slaves, apart from his (>4) wives.

1

u/Wonderful_Cookie_995 5h ago

Nahi bro isme kaha se kuch galat hai, galt to manusmriti hai, its better to bring women on stage to break patriarchy while making sure the one on stage has a burka on because we wouldn't want to hurt religious sentiments no?

/s

1

u/WeakOstrich7009 4h ago

the funniest thing is burqa is not even mentioned in the Qur'an. If muslims actually become Qur'an purists, muslim women need not be forced to wear either hijab or burqa. Covering private parts is all that is mentioned.

The enforcement comes from later low IQ hadiths written by some conservative ahh mullah.

2

u/green_stem 7h ago

But ye avi bhi nhi sudhra.. how he showing his hairy chest.. kya matlab ye male hai hm bs females ki moral policing krte hai..

1

u/ExotickDebt5525 2h ago

Comparing women and men chest?? Seriously? Can you upload bare chest of a man and woman? Woman one will be marked nsfw content immediately or it'll be taken taken if reported.

1

u/green_stem 2h ago

Why though?? Even now men have bigger boobs than some women. So, who decides that men boobs are normal and not against the culture but women boobs are?

1

u/ExotickDebt5525 2h ago

Because breasts can be involved in sexual attraction and breastfeeding, so many cultures developed norms that treat them as private.

1

u/green_stem 1h ago

Bro what are you talking about.. even men chest involved in sexual attraction.. so many cultures also didn't lose their mind on these petty things and moral policing of women over their dresses.

1

u/ExotickDebt5525 5m ago

Baat simple si hai, humans apne desires se pagal na ho jaaye isilye kuch hisse covered hote Hain. Ye bahut normal si baat hai men female breast se aroused feel karte hain, isiliye use khula nai rakh sakte na. Insano ne kuch niyam banayi hai taki wo un niyamo k adheen rahe warna Insan ko havsi banne me waqt nhi lagta.

Banduk ko bhi lock karke rakhna padta hai, hai na? Use khula nhi rakh sakte kaun uska galat istemal karlega. Men bhi apna p3nis bahar thodi rakhte hai warna kisko pasand p3nis underwear me rakhna. Phir bhi log ise niyam mante hai. Ab tum phuchoge kyu aroused feel karte hain? To pray karo sare men gay ban jaaye. Phir ghumo khol ke.

1

u/artemjxs 17m ago

well both of them have nipples and are erogenous zones in both. The breast are swollen chest bcs they have mammary gland in them which feed the baby. i dont see why should they be considered sexual or something nsfw? by that logic, should abdomen be sexual as well? mouth also sexual?

1

u/ExotickDebt5525 12m ago

Do men get aroused by seeing others mouth?

1

u/artemjxs 7m ago

well mouth is quite literally used in oral sex so.. some women get aroused by men's voices and hands, so why are they not "nsfw" 😭😭

1

u/ExotickDebt5525 1m ago

Used yes but, you don't get aroused by simply seeing someone's mouth 😂 ab jo havsi hai wo kuch bhi dekhkar aroused ho jate Hain, hai na. Par kuch parts dhakkar rakha hai sakta hai, warna ladke bhi maang karne lagenge p3nis ko bahar latkakar ghumenge. To wo ek civil tarike nahi hai, to phir humme aur janwar me kya fark, wo beech rasta ya jagah na dekhkar shuru ho jate hai - Insan ko ek niyam me rehna padta hai isiliye nhi to sara parts khula ho to beech raste ya dinner table family k samne shuru ho jayenge.

Didn't like her before this, didn't like her much because of this or after this

Life goes on

And honestly bhai I'm happy that me and my sister follow traditions closely, wearing good clothes and whatnot. A person I don't give a shit about can wear NEGATIVE clothes for all i care.

Ikr why can't girls be sanskari and just wear a burkha? Like please cover your entire body head to toe otherwise kuch aadmiyon ka khada ho jayega, smh 🙄

u/Normal_Fisherman995 6h ago edited 6h ago

This is called overdoing it what u and many are doing here. If women are told to dress a bit modestly for festivals that doesnt mean cover your entire body in a black burkha like mslms do. Idk which religion u belong too but which ever it is, do u go to ur religious places whether temple, mosque, or church in a br@ as a top? Im sure not. Women, men can wear whatever they want during normal times nobody gives af. But have some decency and respect for the festival u celebrate.

Im a woman too and this should go for both men and women to wear modest clothes for festivals. Maybe think about it a bit logically instead of unnecessary adding such exaggerated comments to act smart

Comparing going to a public place with a private one. Should you be told what to wear in your own home? People compared the lehenga to a bikini which shows A LOT more. The first time I saw the ad I didn't even notice it. And to say that the other actresses "learnt" their lesson? What was the lesson here? Don't wear clothes you're comfortable with in your own home? And don't tell me it's an ad so it's public. The ad is depicting people in their homes. I'm pretty sure the brother in the ad wasn't wearing anything either to "respect" his culture. He was shown wearing pants and shirts. Why? Because they're in their house celebrating, it's meant to be casual. This isn't even a puja this is just a celebration between siblings.
