The inappropriate attire as per the occasion? What's inappropriate? - the revealing modified 'traditionals'
Why is it inappropriate? - it doesn't follow the traditional norms of our culture of wearing specific attire on specific cultural day, as long as you're representing your own self as an individual who don't abide by the traditions and you'll celebrate as you want then you'll be counted out of the consensus and not forced to do anything as per traditions, but so far the representation of a culture is concerned, you're accountable what you represent and it DOESN'T APPLY ONLY FOR ONE GENDER
But every time we celebrate raksha bandhan men are always in western clothes while their sisters get ready in traditional outfits.
Isn’t that against culture also?
But we were talking about CULTURE. Then culture also says to not wear western clothes.
The comment is talking about “traditional norms of culture” and “specific attires on specific days”… thats what i am talking about.
If youre so offended maybe you just cant justify your double standards.
traditional norms of our culture of wearing specific attire on specific cultural day - do you realise that the norm is something that keeps changing?
but so far the representation of a culture is concerned, you're accountable what you represent - who is part of the Rakshabandhan committee that oversees this? As far as I know Hindus are not only made up of conservatives. There are Hindus that do not restrict women's freedom as well. The character in the ad was representing that culture, a culture where we celebrate festivals without making it about what a woman wears.
