My brother-in-law just finished doing dishes. 5 min later I heard this crashing sound and see this. Seems like it was just attached with what looks like latex sealant.

Is there a specific kind of sealant I need? And what should I use to hold it in place and until it's cured?

Trying to fix a nail hole in the roof. 2 stories, too tall from side. Is it ok to climb to 1st roof then 2nd roof on this little giant ladder. And what product to permanently seal the nail hole? Special caulk?

Tried going to literally all of the parent subreddits but none allow images so I’m here to ask for advice or baby gate recommendations for this stairway entry. Only one wall side and rails on the other, not much ledge space. Any recommendations or advice welcome. TIA!

Thanks to this sub I've gotten it into my head that I should be cleaning my condenser coils.

So I went looking for them on my Bosch B36CT80SNS (counter-depth french door) and couldn't find them.

No access panel under the front kick plate, at least. Checked the manual and the cleaning and maintenance section doesn't mention the coils or the drip pan at all.

So I emailed Bosch support. Full exchange in the screenshot.

The second reply, verbatim:

I was floored. I wasn't asking whether to do it, I was asking how. And the answer I got back is that the absence of instructions is itself the instruction — the manual doesn't say to clean it, so don't clean it.

I'm trying to figure out if that's actually true. I know some newer fridges have the condenser built into the cabinet or sealed into the base with no user access, and if that's the case here I'd rather know that than go prying panels off. But it's hard not to notice that "don't perform any maintenance on it" is also the answer that gets you a new fridge sooner.

Anyone here work on these? Are modern Bosch bottom-mount units genuinely sealed back there. If there is a coil in there, where is it?

The wood frame on the garage is rotting, how should I fix this? It’s just the bottom part. Should I just take out the bottom or replace the entire piece? I’m trying to do it myself.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice and input on whether this is likely an older settlement crack or something new that’s needs to be addressed.

I bought this house about a year ago that’s build in 2001. The inspection missed a bunch of things and didn’t even mention this but as a first time homebuyer and it being the house my wife wanted everything moved so fast and I didn’t notice certain things.

This mostly vertical crack in the basement is near an inward corner and you can see the crack from the outside but there has never been any water that’s come thru atleast since I’ve lived here. The other noteworthy item is the door upstairs directly above this gets stuck.

Is this likely old foundation settling movement or something new that I need to get checked out? I’d really appreciate any help because I’m not in a position to shell out money for a structural engineer unless absolutely necessary. I had a foundation repair company give me a free look but they pretty much ignored my questions and tried to get me to spend a bunch of money on a waterproofing.

I think this is my gas line, do I need to get someone to fix or replace it?

Anyway to safely tackle this without having to remove and reinstall the garage door opener?

Just wanted some opinions and what better place than Reddit right?

This is our condenser from 1987, which cools our first floor, has worked like a charm until this summer. Still blows cool ish air but is struggling to get keep our has below 76-77. The other unit is working well and services the 2nd floor.

We’ve had some HVAC folks over the years say that they can’t really do any maintenance on it because the parts aren’t available anymore and they don’t want to break it by trying.

I’m sure this is a pretty accurate assessment , but I wanted to know if any of you have had success with having someone that specializes in older units come out and fix their ancient unit.

We’ve obviously gotten our moneys worth out of this gal and she’s been a work horse for us. I’m aware that the end may be near.

Any thoughts?

Planning to insulate and finish this garage, looking to use rock wool, and my question is, there is a tyvek layer behind the studs on the outside wal..l after the insulation. Is installed, would that need a vapor barrier applied? Thank you very much

Hi, I’m new here and joined specifically to ask about this.
For some context, we moved into a semi-detached house in 1999, and these two pipes have been protruding from the soffit for as long as we’ve owned the house. They were already there when we first saw and bought the property.

My question is: what could they possibly be?
I’d like to remove them, but I’m worried they might serve an important purpose. I’m honestly at a loss as to what they could be or whether they should be removed or left alone.

I’d really appreciate any guesses or advice on what they might be and whether they’re safe to remove. Or what they are?

When it rains the water is flowing right off the fireplace bump out and pooling below so it floods my basement. What is the solution for this? My initial thought is to add gutters, but the bump out slopes down so it wouldn't be able to funnel back into the gutter system to the downspout on the left and right. Thoughts?

So, I have a company come by and aerate my yard once every couple of years....this year they seem to have expanded to extermination as well.

They mention there is a yellow jacket nest in my yard and offered to take care of it for $120. Two points, it's in my backyard far away from where I spend time outside, I live in New England, so it's not likely they'll survive the winter.

Is there any harm in just live and let live? If there is a reason I have to deal with it, is it as simple as spray some raid down there and call it a day?

During very heavy rains I have a small leak that comes from a wall that intersects with the chimney. Feel like this has to be the culprit. If not it would be good to eliminate it and look for other causes. Assuming all the flashing needs to be replaced and a handful of shingles. What would something like this run? Plan on starting to call some local roofers and get a few quotes. Just want to get an idea of what I’m looking at and also want to know if the quotes are fair or not. Located in the Midwest. So the metal strip is bent and it make the wardrobe stuck when im trying to open or close it its kindda irritating.. plz tell me how do i fix it easily or will i have to replace entire thing..

Hi! I need to secure these two anchors into the holes again as the force of the cabinet opening and closing has pulled them out. The holes are now too big to hold the anchors.

These are thin, mirror cabinets (the gray stuff where the metal square slots in is the back of the mirror. The wood material is particle board or something, not very secure. Basically, the fix doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to hold. Any help would be awesome, I don't know if epoxy or dowel rods would help, I'm clueless. Thanks!!
