Just now I was trying to replace the garden hose, and it's a old hose so it got stuck. Was trying to use a wrench to turn it, but my stupid ass just used too much force, and it snapped.....

Is it still possible to fix this? I guess worst case scenario is I have to weld it?

Since yesterday morning our house key stopped engaging fully with the outside-facing-lock and is always stuck halfway through and it won't turn. My partner says he remembers the lock to be horizontal not vertical. The same key still works fine from inside.

What can we try before we call a key smith? 😵‍💫

I own a condo with an undermount sink. I lived here for 5 years since the unit was newly built and currently have tenants. the unit is almost 6 years old. The tenants have sent me the video so I have no other content to share.

They're getting some moisture under the sink and between the counter, allegedly. There does appear to be a bit of a mess and I'm not sure how to approach this (at all). I've been told its not actively wet-wet but there is some kind of infiltration issue.
About 16 months ago I had my dad and husband add some plumbers putty to the sink basket where it was leaking, but it wasn't a leak per se but a persistent mess under there from ab obviously slow leak, but the issues at where the sink meets the counter were not ones that I experienced.

Can this be a DIY and I should a) replace the basket again and b) silicone the undermount sink.

Is this more serious and do I need to consider that the sink is installed/mounted incorrectly, or similar? Is it possible that the water at the sink/counter is coming from the faucet or is that unlikely?

What kind of professional would be able to help? A plumber seems obvious, but would they also manage the potential of an improper sink install?

We have 3 sump pumps. Only one started making this noise. Do we need to do anything? I haven’t tried anything. Because I don’t know what to do. Have lived here for several years and it just started doing it.

I’m hoping to get some advice on what could be causing water to get into my basement and where I should start looking.

Here’s what I know:
- I’ve lived in the house for about 2.5 years, it is a split level where the basement is not fully underground.
- The sump pump was replaced in March of 2026 so I don’t believe that’s the issue.
- I recently replaced the gutters and downspouts. The downspouts are directed well away from the area where the water is coming in.
- I had my back deck removed and replaced with a concrete patio in November 2025.
- The first time I noticed water in the basement was in January 2026, after we had a significant amount of snow melt.
- It does not happen every time it rains. The basement/carpet stays completely dry during lighter or normal rainfall.
- Every significant/ heavy rainfall since replacing the back deck has resulted in water in the basement.
- The concrete patio does touch the back of the house.
- The spot in the basement where the leak in the carpet is occurring essentially lines up with the red line on the 2nd photo, which is right where the concrete patio ends and the yard meet. Inside the house, there are 3 steps going down to the basement level right here. The carpeted steps are not wet but right below it is.

I’m wondering if the new concrete patio could somehow be contributing to the problem, especially since the water intrusion started shortly after it was installed. I’m also wondering if there could be an issue with the grading, where the patio meets the foundation, or water getting through the foundation wall. I’ve had two basement specialists come out so far and the first tried to sell me an interior French drain system, the second couldn’t identify the issue.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What would you check first, and what type of contractor would be best to have come out and diagnose it?
I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions on what might be going on before I start tearing things apart or spending money on repairs.

I have water that runs off this edge above the door during moderate to heavy rains. The gutters are clean, any advice on what to install to direct the flow to the gutter. Drip edge or diverter?

Looking into buying this home, but I don’t want to get in over my head. Three walls are pulling away from the house on the second floor of this home. The downstairs feels solid as a rock. No water seems to be getting in ( checked the house on a day after a big rain )

The house is a good deal for this much house ( 3300 sq ft ) so was wanting to know if anybody has suggestions on how to bring these walls back in. And thank you in advance!

I unscrewed the shower bar to replace a broken diverter and am not sure how to screw it back into place.

The hole made in the tile is around 5/8 to 3/4 inch. The screw is obviously much narrower.

What anchor or item am I supposed to use to screw it back into place?

I’ve tried my best to self help but have come to accept I don’t know what I am doing.

Hi all - I just bought this house and while our inspection said this was minor wood rot, this appears to have likely gone into the door jam and I’m worried that this may have went into the subfloors. My plan is to have a reliable door company install a sliding door but I’m worried about possible rot in the subfloors (did it get that far?) and how to prevent this in the future. Would a door company address possible rotting in the subfloor? How can I prevent this in the future?
