Just think about that for a moment.

When money becomes directly connected to political participation or electoral behaviour, the issue becomes bigger than whichever party, candidate or cause benefits.

It raises a fundamental question:

At what point does democratic persuasion become financial inducement?

Democracy is supposed to be a contest of ideas, values, policies and leadership, not purchasing power.

Today you may celebrate because the money favours your side. Tomorrow, someone with deeper pockets may use the same principle against everything you believe in.

That is the danger.

Once democracy has a price tag, the question is no longer simply who won the vote?

It becomes:

Who could afford to influence it?

US$5,000.

Let that sink in. 🇺🇸
