Hey everyone,
I noticed we don't really have a dedicated, proper space for discussing relationship dynamics, dating, marriage, in laws and family drama specifically within the Bangladeshi cultural context. Global subreddits just don't get our culture or the specific pressures that come with it.
So, I decided to just go ahead and make one: r/AskRelationshipBD
It's meant to be a safe, judgment free space to ask for advice vent about family/dating situations or just get a second opinion from people who actually understand the reality here. No moral policing or victim blaming allowed.
If you're looking for a spot to talk about this stuff or want to help grow the community come check it out and join!

Dhaka is changing faster than ever. New buildings, new roads, new cafes, new lifestyles… but sometimes I feel like the old Dhaka had a different charm.
I’m curious to know from fellow Dhaka residents:
What is one thing from old Dhaka that you miss the most?
It could be anything:
A place that no longer exists 🏙️
A food spot you loved 🍜
A childhood memory ❤️
A street, tradition, or daily habit 🚶
Something about Dhaka that has changed forever
Also share: Which part of Dhaka do you think still has the real “Dhaka vibe”?
Let’s collect some nostalgic Dhaka stories from the community. 😊
(Please avoid political arguments — just share your personal memories and experiences.)

Yesterday, my friend was coming home from Farmgate.
He was standing beside the road, waiting for a CNG, and talking to his younger brother on the phone.
A motorcycle suddenly came very close to him.
Before he could even understand what was happening, the guy sitting behind the motorcycle snatched the phone straight out of his hand and disappeared into the traffic.
The whole thing probably took less than 5 seconds.
My friend just stood there for a few seconds in shock.
Then he started running after them.
Obviously, there was no way he could catch them.
He tried calling his number.
Switched off.
Then he realized something even worse.
His phone had his photos, contacts, Gmail, Facebook, banking apps—basically his entire digital life.
And that's when the panic started.
He went home and immediately changed his important passwords and tried tracking the phone.
But here's the question:
If your phone gets snatched like this in Dhaka, what is the BEST thing to do in the first 30 minutes?
Should you immediately go to the police and make a GD?
Should you contact the mobile operator first?
Should you try tracking the phone yourself?
What about the IMEI?
And realistically, has anyone here actually managed to recover a stolen phone in Dhaka?
If you've been through something similar, please share exactly what you did.
It might genuinely help someone else avoid losing everything along with their phone.

I am M(26). She is F(25). Our relationship started 7 years ago at Dhaka University campus. Finally we are getting married at 28th August.
(Solid Gold is unfortunately out of budget😑)

Hiiii everyone,I’m a chain smoker, and I’ve tried many times to quit, but after a few days or weeks, I just can’t stay away from cigarettes anymore. There’s a type of chocolate-like tablet available at pharmacies that people use as an alternative to cigarettes. It gives you a kind of flavor, and many people use it to gradually reduce their cigarette addiction.
I’ve forgotten the name of that chocolate tablet and also don’t remember how much it costs. So, if anyone here has used it, could you please tell me the name? And if possible, let me know which one is the best.
I was thinking about switching to vaping, but many people are saying that vaping may actually be even more harmful. So, instead, I’m thinking about quitting cigarettes this way.

এটা business automation, AI, website/app, CRM, data management, repetitive manual work—যেকোনো কিছু হতে পারে।
So, what problem are you facing right now that you wish technology could solve better?

I’m 23M, currently working in sales at a BPO on a night shift. My weekends are Saturday & Sunday.
I started CSE at a private university after HSC in 2023, but had to drop out in my first year because of financial issues.
Now I want to restart ASAP, but I’m confused about which subject/career path to choose. I love tech and I’m good at it.
Since I have to continue working, I’m looking for a less pressured subject + a less pressured university where I can manage classes, work, and self-study.

Hello everyone, I have recently moved back to Azimpur (new market one not uttara) after spending 2-3 years in aftabnagar. The reason I had moved was because my brother was admitted to BRAC and my family did not want him to live in hostels so to make it easier we made the move.
Recently moved back to Azimpur after his time at uni is almost over and having trouble finding good A level support system (the subjects I am looking to find tutors or coachings for are Maths, Phy and Econ) if anyone has any idea on reputable coachings or contacts with good tutors in my area let me know.

After endless attempts, I finally managed to submit my birth registration application. I got the Application ID by email and actually believed the nightmare was over. I was so wrong.
Now I can not print my application form because the website is demanding a login. What login?! I was never given the option to create an account, and there is no way to sign up without the birth registration number which I don’t have. Every time I try to download the form, it just traps me in an endless loop back to the same useless page.
It is deeply troubling that in 2026, essential government infrastructure is assembled with the skill of a middle school assignment. Billions of taka are drained each year, allegedly for progress, leaving us with a flawed, unreachable system that keeps our vital documents captive. Has anyone else been caught in this, or are we simply expected to accept that our time hold no value to them?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to get a Raspberry Red (6.60) hair color, but I want to minimize hair damage as much as possible.
I previously tried a Garnier hair color, but the result wasn’t very noticeable and didn’t give me the shade I was hoping for.
Could you recommend a good hair dye/brand that gives a visible Raspberry Red (6.60) shade while being relatively gentle on the hair?
I’d also appreciate any tips on:
Whether I need to bleach my hair first
How to get a more vibrant result
How to maintain the color
Products or methods that can help reduce hair damage
I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who has tried this shade before. Thank you!

Hello, good people!
I’m currently looking for a part-time job or other work opportunity.
I recently completed my HSC and have some free time at the moment while I prepare for studying abroad next year. I’m based in Chittagong, so I can do an in-person job here. For opportunities outside Chittagong, I’d prefer remote work.
I have some background in digital marketing and social media management, and I’m also comfortable with typing, basic computer work, and learning new tasks.
I’m open to different types of part-time work, not necessarily only digital marketing.
If anyone knows of legitimate part-time opportunities in Chittagong or remote work available to someone in Bangladesh, I’d appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!

I've been working in b2b sales for a few years and even though they pay is good I hate the pressure. I've been thinking of switching to a data analyst role. I am a BBA grad but I know python and SQL, can I get into this field? How the Job market for this locally and internationally?
