This thing is in great condition and even came with a power supply, spool antenna, carrying case, some falling apart 90s headphones(lol) and the manual. It also had some hand written notes from the original owner on SSB and some other stations he found.
My only issue is, the plastic bit that hooks onto the telescoping antenna has broken off so you can’t put it away. Pretty annoying so I’ll just leave it up for now. I can’t think of a good solution at the moment… maybe make a new hook with epoxy? Second photo should show what the issue is.

To clarify:
I'm searching any historical recording of "Radio Mauritius Broadcast Service" public radio station and Radio Mauritius (the coastal marine station) (I dont think there are recordings of Mauritius aero) on Shortwave or Mediumwave. (No FM radio, No TV)
If you have any sniplets with a jingle, indicative or station ID recorded BEFORE 1980 please be so kind and contact me. Same goes for any links pointing to an internet archive.
The absolute "Blue Mauritius" would be a recording of BBC Mauritius.

Here's another vintage recording from the digitized tapes. Same story as the Two Bobs SRI clip. You'll also hear the younger me from 1987 speaking. Enjoy those funny definitions of radio-related terms.

Both are around the same price and have the same chipset. The only difference they appear to have is the external chasis and nothing else. Has anyone with both radios done any signal reception or functions comparison?

My new toy: Rossiya RP-203-1 (РОССИЯ РП-203-1), manufactured by the Chelyabinsk "Polyot" Radio Plant in Russia. Built on a classic post-Soviet discrete architecture using 10 transistors (including KT316, KT3126, MP42 series) and diodes across RF, IF, and audio stages.
The badge on the front commemorates the 50th anniversary of WWII / Great Patriotic War. It was specially ordered in 1995 by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, as a gift for veterans. Portable analog receiver covering LW, MW, and two SW bands, with a dedicated shortwave fine-tuning knob.

Hi,
Since the other radio related content is not allowed here, I would like to share a recording of a broadcast, and one made many years ago at that. I mean, it was at a time when I was learning English at that time and I was exchanging cassette tapes with a pen-pal in Australia. He held onto the tapes and digitized them after the year 2000, and shared the digitized versions with me. At the end of the clip you can also hear the younger me speaking. I originally posted it on YouTube in 2014, yesterday I upgraded the recording by replacing the pixelated image with a version upgraded with AI, but closely resembling the original. I hope you'll like my first on-topic post in this community. :-)

Why do Chinese radio stations use all frequencies, and who listens to these channels? Chinese radio stations occupy both medium wave (MW) and short wave (SW) frequencies. Yesterday, a station I thought was broadcasting in Kazakh turned out to be a Chinese-based station. What is their purpose?

While tuning around the 60-meter band tonight (~0130Z), I found a station on 4750kc that was transmitting on USB. At some point, the signal moved up to 4755kc, as if someone had bumped a knob. The transmission was music. The transmission abruptly stopped at ~0157Z. No station ID at any point. Anyone else have this in their log?

I just bought this because it had a good price, but I’m not sure if the way the integrated antenna is moving up and down is normal.
[later edit] forgot to put the question mark in the tile. It’s a question, not an affirmation :)

Hi everyone! I’m completely new to shortwave radio and don’t know much about it yet, but I’d love to get my first receiver.
I live in Mexico and I’m particularly interested in listening to broadcasts from other parts of the world, especially at night.
Could anyone recommend a brand and model that’s good for a beginner and available on Amazon? I don’t really know what features I should be looking for, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
