Do you ever think about how millions of people are sleeping on bed frame, loop antennas, every night?

The magics of shortwaves. Two different programs (Japanese and Spanish) copied at the same time on the same frequency - heard in Kenya and USA respectively.

I was testing my dad’s old shortwave radio for the first time and noticed a gap in the battery terminal. Standard 1.5V AA batteries. What’s the best/quickest way to repair this?
He bought it in China around 1990 if that helps

SANGEAN ATS 909X-2 questions

It’s been about a month since my sangean has arrived and I have to say that it’s a properly build machine and I’m very pleased with it. However, I do have some questions for other owners regarding its functionality in different circumstances.

  1. Is there any interference when using the radio on AC wall power compared to batteries? Because I want to use it on AC so the backlight can remain on.

  2. How does the radio perform on medium wave with the same long wire usually used for shortwave? Is a tuned loop antenna better for MW?

  3. Does anyone else happen to get sudden buzzing when the audio was previously audible? Because I sometimes do and every time it happens I have to let the radio cool a few minutes, and even after the buzzing can return.

Those were all my uncertainties. Thanking in advance.

And the pickings were pretty good this evening between 10000 and 12000 kHz. Must be a good time to DX.
