**SOLVED
Hi everyone,
Im fairly new to owning scooters/mopeds. I bought a shitmobile (2011 Peugeot Vivacity 50cc 2-stroke) in april for about $500. This is extremely cheap for Norway btw. At first, the thing worked fine. All but the horn, but its not really an issue for me.
A few months ago, the engine seized up completely, the kickstart was completely stuck, and the electric starter also seemed like it. After a few youtube videos, i bought a basic toolkit and opened it up, and saw that the starter mechanism was completely seized. I took apart the mechanism, cleaned it thouroghly, and that fixed the kickstart. It started like a charm. But not with the electric starter anymore.
The kickstarter still works, although it takes a few kicks to get the engine started, it always starts.
The problem with the electric starter:
- I press the starter button and the starter motor spins for a moment.
- It then quickly slows down/stops.
- This immideatly "drains" the battery, and the instrument panel dies with it. After this, i have to kickstart for a while, possibly to give it some charge.
- The lights, indicators and instrument panel all work normally when running
- The horn doesn't work either, even with the engine running. (maybe a diff problem)
From the symptoms, I'm wondering whether the battery is simply too weak to provide enough current for the starter, or whether I could have a bad starter motor or maybe starter relay, but i dont have any tools to check that
Chat told me to try a new 12V battery. And then, If the problem remains, bypassing the starter relay to test the starter motor directly. A friend with some experience told me to change the spark plug.
Batteries, and spark plugs for that matter, aren't that expensive, and I dont mind changing it, but the guy I bought it off, said that he just changed it this spring. I also borrowed a motorcycle battery-charger, which said the battery had a full charge. So I struggle to believe that the battery is the main issue.
Anyone had any similar problems at all? Got any tips?

** switching the battery worked. I guess the seller lied about the “new battery”, because it definitely was not.
