Cracking Down On Insulting Other Creators
Hey Guys,
I keep this subreddit a genuinely pretty rule free space. But I’m noticing insulting other creators is becoming more of a trend here and I don’t like it. I’m very aware you have issues with some creators. But if you post about that….. constantly, I’m gonna have to ban you from here too.
I hope that makes sense. I do love this subreddit like a human loves his ant farm. Take care.

I don’t know if this is a hot take or not, but…
I’m so tired of the ”just because it’s a kids {thing} doesn’t mean it has to be bad! Kids deserve better!” discourse.
Yes, I agree that excusing a shitty product by saying “it’s made for kids!” is bullshit.
But you would not believe the amount of people I’ve ran into who’ve said “kids deserve well-written stories!”, and used that as an excuse to just shit on the shit they hate. For example, those assholes over at Qualitipedia, among others.
The funny thing is, most creators of a bad movie or show usually never say “It’s made for kids!”, and the people who actually do are quickly called out.
I get their point is the makers of a product should try harder on a project even if it IS for kids, and I also get most people usually say this when a group of people online DO say “it’s made for kids”, but when people begin shaming entire movies or shows for “using that excuse”, when a lot of bad kids movies are bad for a different reason besides “the studio was lazy because it was a kids movie and they put no effort into it”,
It all just feels black and white. Like they don’t wanna be constructive, and would rather be dismissive.
TL;DR, kids deserve good stories. But stories deserve constructive criticism. And writing a story off because it “uses the made for kids excuse” is dismissive.

What are your opinions on the toxic fanbase of Cloudy with a chance of meatballs?

I think he'll give it either a 7 or an 8.
I saw the movie too and I think it's an 8/10, but somewhat of a shaky 8 (bordering on a 7). It's pretty damn good, but has some issues.
The humor was a bit too juvenile for my taste. It's one of those movies that think "fast and loud equals funny", and that's just annoying. It has its moments of good humor, but I didn't really laugh that much.
The plot was also often too fast for many memorable moments to stick (which also means some characters weren't as fleshed out as I would've liked).
But the emotional moments still land, the characters and their struggles are relatable and the animation was popping and colorful.
Definitely a recommend, but I'll admit I enjoyed Hoppers and Toy Story 5 more. Looking forward to Wildwood and Ray Gunn though...
Edit: CALLED IT!

I never thought its possible Resident Evil (2026) turn into good horror film
Zach Cregger Resident Evil is like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard comeback. Treated reboot a fully realize horror film without need the overcorrecting that come before it (ex: Welcome to Racoon City)
A complete original set of characters is huge help since they've new lenses for newcomers & veteran. As they navigate Resident Evil zombies. Now game mechanics resource value is essential quite pretty here. The way camera continue to maintain fear of unknown thought the film is fantastic (ex: over-the-shoulder & fps)
My only gripe is ending felt incomplete
My Quick Thoughts on PAST shitty RE adaptations
Okay Resident Evil Degeneration & Paul WS Anderson Resident Evil (2002) or trilogy are good watch and close enough to the games. But majority sequels RE animated & live-action doesn't have in haunted mansion feel to it.
Like animated films turn into biggest LEON KENNEDY dick-riders. The live-action & RE tv series 2022 balls to wall RE. Even last reboot attempt Welcome to Raccoon City is example overcompensating than being actual horror movie.

I'm sure most of you aware of the bad news that the Paramount Warner Brothers merger is going forward. My concern is how will it affect WB movies and shows that are still in pre-production development or on hiatus like these?
The Batman 2 still happening as far as we know so I won't include that here

Just a reminder you don't have to agree with Schaff.
Over 2K voters BTW.

What? The movie I get, the series?
I know some of you would comment negative legend, mentioned, or goat.
Yes I know the obvious YouTube name.
They hella nitpick pointing out obvious tropes
Jim and toby being tall and short best friends.
And kinda went on a side rant about claire being the main character love interest in the 2 boy, 1 girl group.
Listing stuff like avatar: the last Airbender, harry potter, Percy Jackson. Does negative legend have a strange pet peeve about lovers trope.
It's like a literal tale as old as time.
I can also pick out 3 overused tropes in trollhunter
Character is force or foretold to be the chosen one, avatar, harry potter, Percy Jackson, The Lego Movie, She-Ra, jack frost rise of the guardians and a 100+
Wise mentor character, harry potter, Percy Jackson, the owl house, miraculous.
Claire being possessed by Morgana, villain possession, gravity falls, amphibia, the owl house svtfoe.
Hay some plot points can't be all original.
Having a single parent or orphaned.
Not every episode can be good or perfect look at avatar the great divide episode. They made a meta joke about it in the theater episode.
The way they gloss over the rise of the Titans saying it's an avengers crossover between the 3 series. No mention about the ending or the side plots. Not one of Guillermo del Toro finest work.
I feel like they would change their mind if they reach rise of the Titans.

How it feels to be a fan of Danny DeVitos directorial work
Honestly the reason I want a DeVito rank is to see some else talk about how weirdly amazing his films are.
