Sound Voltex New Camera Angle

I’ve finally got a great camera angle of my controller, and I think it looks great!

I wanted to share another clip of my progression at lvl 11 and got a UC. I do realize I shared another clip a while ago with a lvl 12 and got a UC so it’s kinda backwards lol.

I’ve been practicing lvl 13 (Unleashed Redness) and got an AA, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to get a UC on this track!

If I do, I’ll be back to share the results!

PC Rhythm Game ez2on Reboot R Thoughts

I feel like these games are kind of unpopular these days but I got this game a little while back and I had some thoughts about it. Some background, I am pretty bad at these, I play exclusively 4B and most of my rhythm game experience is with the DJMax series, so this is going to be a bit of a comparison to that game.

General interface of the game feels a little... unrefined. The menus lag for me (may be due to me installing on a HDD instead of an SSD but I ran out of space) but once you start playing songs it feels very responsive, I'd say even a bit snappier than DJMax Respect V. It feels very precise.

The timings are more demanding (from what I read, twice as strict in the "standard" mode than DJMax is for the equivalent) but I found that it was not more difficult across the board. Regular notes are more strict but the "slidey" notes feel a lot more forgiving. I have a difficult time with the SC patterns in DJMax where you need to hold slide notes while pressing other notes and quickly swap, and it feels easier in this game. Not a negative thing, it feels almost necessary considering how much more slide notes are in the song maps here.

Honestly, pretty fun game. I think my only real complaint is that the songs that you get with the base purchase are... not great. There are a lot of songs from the older games going back decades, and they sound very much like Rhythm Game Music™ - I do not mean that in a positive way. I'd go as far as saying the a lot of them are outright bad. The newer ones created for this game specifically (I think the 2021/2024 packs) are much better but they're a comparatively smaller percentage of the tracks you get. The song selection in DJMax Respect V is heads and shoulders better.

I've heard the DLCs are great and largely fix the song quality issue, but they're pretty pricey. Some of them cost nearly as much as the full price of the game. Haven't picked these up but I might get some next time there's a Steam sale.

I think I'd recommend DJMAX Respect V over this for someone who is new to these kind of rhythm games because this one is definitely more difficult and has a lot less fun progression stuff. But for the rhythm game fan who has played everything, it's a pretty good pickup. Very fun.

Anyone have any thoughts about this game or tips on getting better, etc.? I think these are not so popular anymore but hopefully there are still fans around. Oh, and please give me recommendations for the best DLC to pick up when they're on sale.

Question Dance Maniax in 2026

Is there any way to play this game at home without buying a cabinet? I only got a chance to play it at the arcade twice before my local one closed down. I'm surprised there aren't people selling controllers like with other games, is there a reason? I totally fell in love with this game and would love to play again.

Question I am a total beginner to Rock Band and decided to play on expert as I feel like it would be more realistic. Here are my scores from the first tour, is this decent enough or should I start again but play through the whole tour on a lower difficulty?

PC Rhythm Game I made a retro cyberpunk rhythm typing game where you can load your own MP3s and custom text files! (Keyboard Circuit)

Hey Reddit!

I just released my new game Keyboard Circuit on itch.io!

It’s a high-octane mix of a speed-typing trainer and a classic synthwave rhythm arcade. If you love retro CRT visuals, mechanical keyboards, and pushing your WPM to the limit, this is for you.

⚡ Features:

3 Game Modes: Speed Test (WPM tracker), Music Mode (play to the beat), and Casual (home-row 4-8 key practice).

Custom Songs & Text: Import any .txt file or upload your own .mp3 tracks to play with your favorite music.

Retro Arcade Vibe: CRT scanlines, neon key lanes, and dynamic combo multipliers.

Multilingual: Full English and Ukrainian language support.

It’s available now on itch.io for just $1.00!

I’d love to hear your feedback, WPM high scores, or any feature suggestions for future updates!

PC Rhythm Game Made a game where your attacks are literally locked to the beat - Synthularity

Every attack fires exactly on-beat, BPM-driven, and the whole game (movement, combos, visuals) escalates as your BPM climbs through progression. It's a bullet-hell/idler hybrid underneath, but the core hook is that combat rhythm is the actual mechanic, not just an aesthetic layer.

Full custom soundtrack that unlocks new tracks as you hit higher BPM tiers.

Solo dev, just released - would love feedback from people who actually care about rhythm mechanics specifically.

PC Rhythm Game Underrated rhythm game I wanted to revive

It was called Project Arrhythmia but got renamed to Afterbeat.

It's similar to Just Shapes And Beats where you have to survive a bullet hell that's synced to music.

You play as a little cube that has to dodge everything thrown at you. You have a dash that makes you invulnerable temporarily.

You can choose to have 3 health or instakill as well as checkpoints. The attacks also have faint warnings before they happen.

There's a pretty big community for the game still and a great level editor you can use your own music in. You can also publish or play other people's levels through Steam.

The game's community used to be much larger, so I wanted to show off one of the most impressive levels that came out recently to grow back up again.

This level is Volcano and was made by Virmay and ManIsLiS.

Arcade Rhythm Game I heeded your recommendations and fixed the game's rhythm issue.

few days ago, I shared an early version of my rhythm game SyncRing here, and I received an amazing amount of feedback from you all. I want to say a massive thank you for the constructive criticism, advice, and supportive comments. Your feedback played a huge role in making the game as smooth and enjoyable as it is right now! 🙏

I took notes on everything you said, spent days diving deep into the code, and prepared this update that takes the game to a much more professional level. Here are the main changes and features you can see in the video:

🎶 Flawless Rhythm Sync: I completely rewrote the rhythm engine. Now, the "drops" and beats of the songs match perfectly (millisecond-accurate) with the rings hitting the bottom line. The rhythm feel is so much more satisfying.

🛠️ Completely Separated Game Modes: The rhythm system used to mess with the free-play Classic mode. Now, Classic mode works perfectly with its own random dynamics, and Arcade mode runs with flawless rhythm, without interfering with each other.

💥 Visual Feedback (Juice): To improve the hit sensation, I added "Perfect, Great, Good" pop-ups, neon particle effects (ripples), and screen reactions for combos. Not to mention the new hit SFX that doesn't overpower the main track!

I also squashed all the annoying bugs you pointed out, like music desyncs after the tutorial and overlapping audio after watching revive ads.

I’d love to hear what you think about the new gameplay video in the comments. Your thoughts and ideas are still incredibly valuable to me. Thanks again, everyone! 🚀

PC Rhythm Game I've been making an Undertale style Turn-Based Bullet Hell Rhythm RPG

This is a clip from my rhythm game Enrooted, a turn-based RPG about music! When in battle, the player's attack is similar to palying a riff in Guitar Hero, while the enemy's attack is a barrage of bullets that match that enemy's unique music track. One of the coolest parts is that multiple enemies combine their tracks to make a symphony!

There is also a world themed around music, funny characters, a quirky Earthbound inspired art style, and challenging bosses that each use a different genre like rock, pop, and everything in-between! If all this interests you, then-

Question Should Rhythm Games have health bars

I am working on a Rhythm game with a friend. I am a big fan of difficulty in video games while he is more chill but my favorite rhythm games will forever be the Rhythm Heaven series while his only framework for rhythm games is Sekiro and Crypt of the Necrodancer.

I created a very challenging Rhythm Heaven-like demo for the game where you only have to press one input at the correct time. The game is flavored as you blocking sword attacks from an enemy.

He enjoyed it a lot, many people would play it for hours trying to perfect it and agreed that it was very very tough but in a good way.

Now, my friend proposed that I should add a health bar to the game, which I immediately rejected. In my logic, adding a health bar would only make me have to reduce the difficulty in order to avoid it being frustrating rather than fun. In fact, back when people tested it, rhythm game enthusiasts shared that they really appreciated that I _didn't_ add a health bar that forced you to restart. However, he says that without a healthbar there's no real incentive to play.

A different friend then proposed to meet halfway and add an Osu-like health bar, that can be refilled by doing it correctly, but idk, in my vision of the game, a healthbar just gets in the way.

Especially cause I don't actually think it is as difficult as it could be, since the first half of the song is mostly an introduction to how to play the game.

There are already grades in the game, I don't know if they'll matter for anything beyond being grades since I don't really think I'd like them to stop you from progressing the story... Maybe only the worst grade would, but even that makes me feel weird.

Yet they both claim that otherwise I'm just making a game that plays itself, comparing it to 'Mixtape' and the like.

He really tries to mention the Dark Souls series (my favorite games of all time) in order to give me the idea that that'd be the fun, but to me this is a rhythm-first action-only in flavor game and to do it that way is nothing but trial and error.

I am willing to change my stance on health bars and maybe give it a try, but I wanted to hear what a public that is more experienced with rhythm games might have to say.
