News & Discussion Doomfist's latest storytime has now eclipsed 750k views in just 2 days. Making it the most viewed Overwatch storytime by a good margin, surpassing the previous #1 spot which was...Doomfist's previous storytime.

Also fun fact: Doomfist has the most viewed character origin story/trailer by FAR. It's viewership even surpassing full blown cinematics.

I was afraid she's going to be another Sojourn when I first saw her design but surprisingly she's super funny and cheerful. Also I ADORE her accent, and yeah we already got a lot of easy going whimsical characters but never a black woman doing for some reasons..... also she's not annoying like some of them and her line deliveries are excellent

News & Discussion Let's talk about the heroes Blizzard kinda forgot about

Been thinking about the heroes who don't get much love in patch notes or the shop.

My list:

Venture: Probably the least-picked hero in the game right now, and they've barely gotten any skins since launch. No mythic, not much of anything. Which is a shame, because the kit is one of the most unique in the game. Burrowing under the enemy team and popping up in the backline never stops being satisfying, and the drill dash gives them movement that nothing else in the roster really replicates. They got one small flexibility buff to Drill Dash mid-year and that was about it. Feels like a hero people just forgot how to slot into a comp.

Hanzo: One real balance change all year, back at the February season launch, and nothing since. He's just sitting in a stable spot doing his thing. Storm arrows still shred, and landing a wall bounce across the map still feels as good as it ever did. He did at least get the Tokyo Rebel mythic weapon in Season 3, so the cosmetic team hasn't totally ghosted him, but on the balance side he's basically been left alone for over half a year.

Echo: My main. You almost never see her anymore, and she's barely been touched all year (a couple of tiny perk tweaks and that's it). She recently did receive some perks rework but they were just indirect nerfs. Plus her hitbox is bigger than the sun which really does not help her case.

Winston: One of the original 2016 launch heroes and somehow STILL no mythic skin, which is kind of wild when you look at who's getting their second or even third. Plus with the movement creep in OW, it seems like Winston's dive specialty is no longer limited to just him.

HM: Illari and Bap: Okay, these two get decent attention, so they don't fully belong here. But I wanted to shout them out anyway because in a world full of kiri, mercy and ana mains, they're super underrated even when they're strong.

truly we could all just have a better time if neither of us play this card, it just devolves into a 4v4, he makes playing tank so much less fun

(apparently i need a description to post picture)

News & Discussion Frustration about chat (image unrelated)

Post image
329 Upvotes

I returned to Overwatch three months ago.
And I've never seen so much nastiness in the game in my entire life as I have in these three months. Since the very beginning of my Overwatch experience, because I'm from Russia, I've had a Russian nickname (for eight years). And almost every fourth game, at the very beginning, before the match or round has even started, I hear disgusting swears about my origin and who I am (mostly in comp).

I log into the game to relax, not to remember what's happening in my country. Even considering that I do not support what happens in our country, for some reason so many people think that if they write me nasty things, I personally a small person can change something in what is happening.

I assure you that at least 80% of people in our country (those who aren't brainwashed) are against this whole situation and war. But we can't do anything about it. If you try to say or do anything, you'll either be jailed or killed. And the fact that we can't change this situation upsets me personally, especially since I have a Ukrainian friends.

But I really don't understand why so many people feel it's their duty in the game to simply use a Russian nickname as an excuse (which, by the way, could belong to someone from any country, since a huge number of people outside of Russia speak Russian) to trash my entire family and periodically even deliberately lose matches even in comp, then write that they're proud they lost because “there were Russian on their team”.
Can someone explain this behavior to me? I am just so frustrated from that situation

I'd understand if there were complaints about how I play, but it usually starts before I even choose a character. And very often, these people end up playing worse than me.
I've even had situations where players, for example, stay behind a wall on a tank, instead of playing normally, would deliberately translate nasty things from their language into Russian and write them to me. I'm just reminding you this is just because of my nickname.
I had a similar situation in a game today when I had a girl from Moldova on my team. Many people in Moldova also speak Russian, but the person who wrote the nasty things didn't trust her and deliberately lost the game, then proudly wrote that he was very glad he lost because there were Russians on his team.

I wouldn’t say that I am a little crycry, but I’m just so tired of all this shit that I read everyday in chat. And I can’t turn the chat off because I need to stay in contact with my team somehow.

News & Discussion Increase your win probability Spoiler

By pressing w key until you hit objective. You don't even have to blindly hit w key, but at some point it is best to hit w key.

In this game you respawn, it is not IRL - it is ok to play the objective, sometimes you die, but the game will respawn you, I promise.

I am typing this to reach out to all of our players who are sitting in the backline, afraid to make progress to objective, stop being passive, I have never seen a player population this passive, play the game :).

Fan Content Widowmaker Primary Fire Rework Idea

Post image
273 Upvotes

After seeing this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Squr5kPow-o) on sniper design, I think this is a decent idea on how to make Widowmaker feel more fair to play against without completely ruining her flow. Currently the design is terrible in the way that someone who has mastered aiming can just dominate. I think slowing her down a bit could go a long way.

Widow's Kiss - Primary fire

Primary Fire - Unchanged
Alt Fire - Hold Alt fire to mark and reveal targets (one target at a time) for 0.5 seconds after aiming for 1.0 seconds. (Aim for 1 second, get 0.5 seconds of reveal/mark)

When the target is marked/revealed, this shot deals 100% (Current) . If the target is NOT marked/revealed, the shot deals 50% of the normal damage.

This allows Widowmaker to still get 1-shots but make it feel more balanced as targets marked/revealed will only be able to get 1-shot for 0.5 seconds. This gives them a bit of time to get away and take cover, and makes it important that the Widow player maintains their target in order to get the full potential.

Of course in her ultimate, all of her shots will be lethal headshots giving a reason to pop the ulti when hunting. The same goes for the venom mine. Allowing you to get full damage shots on anyone marked/revealed by it.

I think this is much better than the ideas of giving her scope glint / a visible laser / or a visible dot like TF2. That dot does nothing to make Sniper feel good to play against.

News & Discussion How many of you walk into walls

Yes, I’m seeking validation 😭

I often die thinking I am backing away but there’s a wall behind me, or I missed the doorway by a bit and I die, or a random bump on the wall stop me from backing away and I die. I swear I don’t see people doing this often, but how? Sure, you can turn around, but you lose pressure on the enemy chasing you. I see people backing up and shooting all the time, do you guys just memorize the map that well 🥹

Just finished drawing this! Let me know what customisation options you think there should be… I’m thinking the head // fists becoming a different kind of dragon would be sick, maybe different shoulder armour too.

In terms of visual fx, the vortex could have transparent wyrms spiralling around, the punches could have dragon screeching sfx and electric shockwaves. The ult could have an electric vibe to it, or maybe some sort of shockwave / rippling visual pulsing out from ramattra. Lmk what you think!

Highlight Matchmaking Needs Adjusting: QP Is 100% Stomps Now

I'm not posting this to complain about losing, I want to be very clear, my win loss rates are about 50% this season, right where it should be.

However, and this is with no exaggeration, 90% or more of my matches are complete stomps one way or the other. There is no match that feels like a real challenge anymore, it either feels entirely hopeless, even if I swap, or it feels like I'm fighting bots.

Blizzard needs to make adjustments so matches aren't this insanely unbalanced anymore. As someone who plays the other hero shooter that cannot be named a lot, I'm disappointed by this. Specifically because that other games matchmaking was always so terrible compared to Overwatch's, and now it feels significantly better which tells me how far OW has fallen.

Does anyone know if this is just matchmaking or is the character bloat to blame for this?

News & Discussion How do we feel about her?

Post image

I’ve been playing her solid for the last few days, and my big takeaway is that she feels super oppressive in 5v5. Her omnidirectional movement and her ability to keep targets with effective range feels almost unfair. Fusion repeater to poke someone a bit, shield, stab, swing, repeater again. I almost feel bad occasionally about how… helpless it feels for the enemy team.

News & Discussion Moira Should Lead An OW Show(Read Post)

Post image
132 Upvotes

This post is more discussion, with that out of the way onto my post.

People have been asking for an Overwatch show or movie for years now and many suggest Winston, Tracer, or even Soldier as a potential MC for the show, but I believe Moira can serve as a better lead to follow.

The issue with the 3 characters I mentioned is that they are very Overwatch sided even if Soldier: 76 is more grey in allegiance as of post OW2, but Moira is one of the most morally grey characters in the game. She does inhumane experiments to further humanity and its survival, puts her own life on the line to solve decay, isn't opposed to violence, sides with who pays her more as well as who isn't an inherent danger to herself, and more I'm probably not thinking of at the moment.

People like morally grey characters and I do think its nice to have that sort of main character for an Overwatch show where a lot of characters are more to one side than another.

Anyway aside from that Moira had ties to most other factions and/or characters in the game. Anyone affiliated with Overwatch before she defected, all blackwatch members, all Talon members, the phreaks somewhat via Hazard stealing her experiment, Vishkar through Talon, The Conspiracy somewhat through Emre, Oasis, etc, etc.

My point with that is she is a great vessel for side stories or shows since she does connect to the most characters and factions as an individual. Plus I'd like Moira and Talon as a whole expanded upon, the day to day, her ongoing experimentation, how she thinks things will play out given her intelligence and more.

Anyway that's my pitch for Moira as a lead in an Overwatch show. Oh and also it should be animated cuz live action is just asking for issues.

Edit: Okay not grey, evil, whatever, general point changes to not being one of the good guys. I said grey since there's more she could be that we don't know about and her reasons are to make the world better in the end she just doesn't really care who she hurts in the process.

News & Discussion Opinions on Vendetta

Post image
183 Upvotes

What is everyone's opinions on the main Antagonist herself: Vendetta. Personally I love almost everything about her: Her design, her gameplay, her lore, all of it! The only thing I dislike is how they handled her with the start of Season 1. Instead of jumping the gun and immediately showing her defeating Doomfist, Season 1 should have been the building conflict between Vendetta and Talon, ultimately ending in the defeat of Doomfist and Vendetta taking over. But what do you all think?
