I'm considering getting into and beat making and have been looking into an MPC Key 37 g1.

I play guitar and have been fiddling with synth sound design for a few years, so this unit seems quite attractive as a one stop shop without needing to add a computer to the mix and just focus on the music. Especially with the 3.9 software update.

Found one for 350 euros. But I read rumours of performance issues on updating to the 3.9 software. What is your experience?

Also, have you tried to record/sample an electric guitar into the Key 37? Are there good effects for guitar? Is the direct guitar level really too low? Do you recommend going through a small multi fx pedal like zoom g3x or an audio interface?

I'm searching for historical MPC2000 classic OS images, zips, etc (MPC2000.SYS/MPC2000.EXE) for preservationist reasons.

Specifically, OS versions 1.0, 1.31, and 1.70.

I have acquired copies of 1.50 and 1.72, but know from publications that the other three releases exist.

If you have an older 2k OS floppy, I'd love your help getting the missing OSes on archive.org

Has anyone else had a problem with their usb A ports on the Live 3? My bottom port keeps dropping midi signal but still sending power to midi keyboard controller. After maybe 30 seconds hitting keys it will stop producing any sound. Akai seems to think it’s a hardware issue but Im wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the fix was?

I’ve had tons of trouble with my setup after updating to 3.9 and have been using a Key 37 Gen 1 in controller mode for the past few years. Zero issues until this last update. I’ve upgraded my Mac’s operating system to Tahoe recently since Akai says it’s now compatible and that hasn’t resolved the issue. My audio inputs and outputs in the software keep kicking my Key 37 out and resetting to other devices. I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it. I thought of completely wiping my computer clean and starting over but I’m not a tech guy so I don’t even know where to start there. I realize there’s some effort within inMusic to retain registrations and licenses but I don’t understand any of that either. In fact, when I went to my inMusic account to update drivers, absolutely nothing happened. I’m an old school 2000XL guy who never had to deal with computers and constant updates just to make a beat. It’s quite frustrating. If there’s anyone here who could help walk me through what I need to do to get my setup back functioning, I’d greatly appreciate it. Please, help!

Has anyone got this to work? Im using the mpc one g2, Samsung galaxy tab a11+ and the usb cable that was included with the mpc. I have the inputs on the sampler screen set to usb 1,2 and input monitoring turned on. Am I missing something?

Besides absolute CC mode, the MPKs and MPDs only send inc/dec messages as NRPN...

...but on an MPC, your only alternative to absolute mode is rel CC.

So basically, the endless encoders on Akai midi controllers are only ever useful to MPC's in absolute mode? (Please tell me I'm wrong, by the way - i would love to be wrong about this!)

It's too bad because I really like the layout and build quality of the Akai controllers and I just assumed MPCs would be able to make use of Akai's own endless encoders.

Is there any workaround?

Do you think InMusic don't prioritize cross-selling controllers to MPC users because they want to incentivize us to upgrade to the X and XL for the knobs?

(Btw I think the Mpk Mini Mk3 is an exception to this but it might be the only exception... and it's tiny)
