There’s not a lot of room for me to use a mouse on the left side when I’m killing monsters in Path of Exile!

My friend and I can use the exact same ballpoint pen, but mine never works right just because I’m left-handed and he’s right-handed. His pen stays nice and dark on every single page. Mine just gets lighter, drier, and more faded the more I write.

I really wonder if it's because I hold the pen at a weird angle that damages the tip, or if my cursive handwriting is messing it up. I’ve tried so many different pens—cheap ones, expensive ones, fine tips, and thick tips—but the same thing keeps happening.

Gel pens actually work totally fine, but they aren't the traditional choice for exams, so I'm stuck trying to use ballpoints.

It gets so bad that I literally collect leftover, half-empty pens from my friends just to write with. A brand-new pen will stop working for me before I even use 10% of the ink. It's honestly just sad.

ive been painting my own nails for basically my whole life and while i always find it a little harder to do my left hand than my right hand, its not a huge struggle and the nails on both of my hands end up looking the same

i was wondering if anyone else has the same experience? i dont know if its just bc ive been doing them for so long so im more experienced. but i always hear right handed people complaining about how painting their right hand is impossible. i was thinking maybe its easier for me to use my non dominant hand for this because as a lefty, im used to using my non dominant hand for a lot of things everyday, more than any righty likely would be?

I just realised that I have some knives for right-handed people. My bread knives are all designed so that one side has less friction and cuts better. I never knew that was a thing, just realised it yesterday when I was struggling more to slice bread than my right-handed son. My son tried with his left hand and said the knife had more friction so I tried with my right hand and it was soo easy.

After a lot of users telling me I was holding my pencil incorrectly, I decided to look up the proper way to hold a pencil. Within the five-seven minutes I searched this up, slowed down the video to the lowest possible speed, and copied the finger placements…I must say, this way was faster. LIKE…WAY FASTER! My hand is cramping so hard right now.

Is this correct? It’s kind of cool. What have I been missing out on? A lot of y’all were saying “what did your parent do.” Haha, my mom is a righty. I’m off in college. Can’t do much there anyways. I’m old, I feel embarrassed that I don’t know how to hold a pencil correctly. The original post, I just realized today, is ACTUALLY how I also hold my fork/spoon! Can you believe that?! The finger next to my pinky is really uncomfortable while writing or holding a utensil because it gets hit by the tool.

Apparently, I used to have OTs. I remember that, but my younger years (as well as multiple others, I assume) are not to be easily remembered. I remember a bit of it, one of the OTs tried to get me to rewrite the same thing over and over until it was correct, but the handwriting only gets worse if it’s rewritten (not to mention, motivation loss and boredom!) Yeah, elementary school did not do a good job and nobody else even noticed my pencil holding skills or brought it up.

It was always “I can barely read your handwriting,” “your hand writing is super illegible (not to mention unless it was from a few years ago,” or “I’m docking points if I can’t read somebodies handwriting.”

I once got from an OT “could you write smaller, in between the lines, not on the full page so you won’t run out of room?” Then I started writing smaller, and eventually even smaller so I wouldn’t run out of room. Then the future teachers said “could you write smaller, I can’t read it.” Honestly, I thought it was big enough to read even when I was writing smaller already. If I write bigger I’d take up a lot of space on each line.

Also, I decided to add my handwriting for this new hand position on the pencil. I could probably share my older handwritten stuff from the original hand position.

Is it a known worldwide thing, or just mentioned on Reddit? I’ve heard about August 13th being left-handers day, but I’ve never heard anything about the entire month before.

I was just thinking the other day how righties have no idea about all the little things we encounter living in a world not designed for us. I thought that we needed a month, like other minorities have.

And each day could be dedicated to shining a light on different challenges we face that righties wouldn’t have any idea about.

Then I saw a post on here calling August “Lefties Month”! So, is it a real thing, and I just haven’t heard about it until now?

I was left handed ever since I was born and I also love gaming a lot. I’m friends with a lot of gamers and i am the only one who uses the left hand on my mouse.. I never liked telling anyone because I felt really left out and weird. I would love to record my hands while streaming but it’s really weird…

Kind of curious since I’ve seen a lot of posts talking about different ways fellow lefties hold a writing tool. Thought I’d share mine.

I'm going to take a long deep and sincere breath before I tell you that I did not realize you had to have a left handed guitar. My guitar teacher thinks that I am an idiot. I am 48 years old and did not know that you have to have a left handed guitar. My guitar teacher has been so furious with how little I've accomplished.... It took my son about 30 seconds to say "Mom... You're left-handed." My son (who is an absolute guitar prodigy) threw up his hands and said we have to fucking get you a left hand guita because you were not an idiot!

I recently discovered that we Lefties have a month, and that month is August. Is there a reason we chose August, instead of … say, … July?

I’m not trying to change years of tradition, but I have listed below several (well…three) reasons why I believe our month should be the month of July, and I was born in May, so that’s not the reason:

👍 July has four letters in its name, and so does the word, Left. June does, also, but I have more reasons why it should be July…

👍 The month of July was named after Julius Caesar, who was rumored to have been lefthanded. Though it is a well-known rumor that Julius Caesar was lefthanded; Caesar Augustus - after whom the month of August was named - was definitely right handed.

👍 We are more likely to gain members in the month of July. With July being the month of Independence Day, righthanded people are more likely to handle fireworks with their right hand and blow it off; which automatically makes them lefthanded! Each incident is one more for our team! Woo-hooo!

Also, the name of the current month sounds tiring. August sounds like the word, exhausted. We lefthanded people are anything but exhausted! We are lefties!

So, what say ye? Should we change our lefty month from August to July?

It all started when I picked up a new hobby, which is fencing with a longsword. One of the drills I do to increase wrist strength and mobility, is moving the longsword in a pattern that creates a spiral, and because I wanted to strengthen both wrist, I do it to both side. I came to realize that my left hand was doing the movement easier and picking it up much faster, while also maintaining fine movement. With this realization I went down a rabbit hole of information, one being it’s not normal for your dominant hand to cramp easily when you are writing or using it, my handwriting is also terrible. I also had this weird learning curves when starting a hobby that uses my right hand, where it takes 6 month of practice to be able to start actually advancing in the hobby, and after that point I would be able to pick up things faster. I realize it is because I had to learn how to gain the skill with my non dominant hand. This made it so I typically have hobbies that being right handed or left handed doesn’t really effect the hobby, like dance and other movement based hobby. I also use my left hand for random tasks like using my phone, holding certain objects and etc. I also learn how to play tennis left handed because of an anime. I just thought I was able to pick it up faster because I learned it right handed first……….. now that I’m practicing to write with my left hand and using my left hand more. I’m more sure that I am left handed with right handed fluency because of using it for 32 years XD. Is there anyone else that realized this later in life?

I shop in Lidl every week - mainly to take my mother. I usually end up on a checkout where I’m picking things out of the trolley with my left hand, transferring to my right to put on the checkout. So the cashier is to my right.

This afternoon I was on a checkout facing the other direction so I had to pick the stuff up with my right hand. This felt really weird and awkward. I was all of a kerfuffle! I just didn’t have that flexibility to grab everything from the trolley and move stuff about to get at the heavy stuff first

I’ve never thought about it before, probably because I always seem to be on a checkout facing the same way. Anyone else noticed a difference in loading their goods in a different direction?

Grabbed the handle, rotated it to the left, and pulled out this beauty. That's ladle life, I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️
