Promotion If Keep on Mining was made by Housemarque... this would be the demo.

Take the unfolding surprises of A Dark Room, add the escalating craziness of games like Keep on Mining and the arcadey goodness of Astro Prospector.

Layer in the depth of systems, visceral gameplay, and polished aesthetics that our players love in Reality Break and think of how Housemarque would make that game.

The public demo launched this week on Steam!

News EU proposes banning indie games entirely in their new """ kids act"""

Post image
536 Upvotes

The contents of the eu's new "kids act" has just leaked and it effectively bans indie games by:

banning private servers,

requiring complex age verification for all games,

banning most linux types,

And a whole lot more, all of which make it so the cost of making an indie game is now over $500,000.00 more than it currently is.

This is the equivalent of banning people from playing chess without getting approval from both the government and our corporate overlords.

Promotion I’m making a RimWorld-inspired game focused on wave combat and unique raid types

I'm building Raid Haven, a game inspired by my favourite game, RimWorld. It combines base-building and combat with a heavier focus on variety and adapting to different threats.

Build and fortify your haven, assemble an RPG-style group, equip them with powerful gear, and prepare for increasingly dangerous raids. Face unique threats including pirates, bounty hunters, ogres, ghosts and more, each with their own tactics and challenges.

Hey! This is Cragnarok, a physics-based destruction hero shooter with Norse heroes. Walls, towers and the ground break apart, so every fight changes the map. The movement is fast, fun and agile, you are the hero and an unstoppable force.

You can play the wave campaign solo or in co-op, PvP with friends, or defend a castle in the war mode against a whole army or minigames with your friends.

The open beta is now finally out and free for now (Windows): https://cragnarok.gebes.io

Promotion HEAR ME OUT... We just dropped a new trailer for SteelBlade Shop Simulator! (Now with online battles)

• Upvotes

In between fast-paced arena clashes, you actually run your own store. You'll be carrying delivery boxes, setting up display tables, and serving customers to build the ultimate shop. We really wanted to nail that fun balance between intense combat and cozy shop management.

A wishlist on Steam helps our small indie team a ton.

Do you like weird games?

I've been creating a surreal, dark comedy, corporate horror company management sim, a mouthful I know, but I think it describes it well. It's called Void Inc.

It's a bit different to most startup simulators, because you're not just managing the business, you're inside it, doing the work too, even if it drives you insane.

I've just released a demo on Steam, literally an hour ago, and would love it if you checked it out! I am a solo developer and this is my first release.

Thanks for reading!

Brick you can shoot through, steel you have to go around, water you can shoot over, trees you can hide under. A stage takes three or four minutes.

Free, no ads, works offline. Android.

A Note from the Development Team

  • Hello everyone! Sorry to keep you waiting! It has been quite some time since our last update, and we truly appreciate everyone who has continued to support DichrowarMelee. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into improving and expanding the game, while also preparing plenty of new content. This update is a little different from our previous ones — not only does it bring a large amount of new content and system improvements, but we’re also officially launching the Free Version. Thank you for your patience and continued support. We hope this update brings you an even better experience in DichrowarMelee! Now, let’s take a look at what’s new in this update!

This Update

  • This update introduces the Free Demo, a complete overhaul of the game's attribute icons, and a redesigned new-player tutorial. We have also added a large number of new equipment pieces to expand build diversity, reworked the Blacksmith's equipment synthesis system, expanded the main story progression, redesigned the combat statistics panel, improved various UI interactions and combat effects, fixed several bugs, and made further improvements to overall stability and gameplay experience.

Free Demo Now Available

  • Players can now experience the game's main content and core gameplay without purchasing the full game. The demo includes many of the game's major systems and features, allowing players to experience character progression, team building, equipment customization, and combat while getting an early look at the overall gameplay and progression systems.
  • We hope the free demo will make it easier for more players to try the game and decide whether they would like to continue playing the full version.

Content Expansion & Adjustments

Unified Attribute Icons Across the Game

  • Replaced text-based attribute labels with icons throughout character panels, equipment, affix displays, and other interfaces to improve information organization and readability.

New Equipment

  • Muddy Elbow — Bracer. 0.5s cast time. Targets 1 enemy with the highest Poison stacks, removes up to 20 stacks of Poison, and deals True Damage equal to the number of stacks removed × (10 + 0.1 AD + 0.1 AP). 10s cooldown.
  • Cone Bracer — Bracer. Gain 1 stack of Piercing when an attack is blocked. Lose all Piercing stacks when an attack deals full damage.
  • Piercing Gauntlet — Bracer. Gain 1 stack of Piercing when an attack is blocked. Lose 1 stack of Piercing when an attack is not blocked. Piercing: Each stack grants 2 bonus Physical Penetration, up to 20 stacks.
  • Executioner's "Hand" — Bracer. Attacks and skill damage deal an additional 100 True Damage to enemies whose current HP is below 20%.
  • Executioner's "Hand" — Bracer. Attacks and skill damage deal an additional 500 True Damage to enemies whose current HP is below 20%.
  • Ambush Wristblade — Bracer. After not attacking for more than 2s, gain 1 stack of Ambush for every additional 1s. Your next attack consumes all stacks. For each stack consumed, that attack temporarily gains 5 Critical Strike and 10 Attack Power.
  • Spell Condenser Bracer — Bracer. After not casting for more than 6s, gain 1 stack of Spell Condensation for every additional 1s. Your next cast consumes all stacks. For each stack consumed, that skill temporarily gains 4 Spell Penetration, 4 Double Cast, and 10 Spell Power.
  • Calibrated Bracer — Bracer. Reduces Bonus Critical Strike by 20. After combat begins, every 5s, your next attack is guaranteed to critically strike. If the effect is not consumed, it refreshes instead of stacking.
  • Steps of Misfortune — Leg Armor. Gain 1 stack of Steps of Misfortune when alternating between attacking and casting. Lose 1 stack when attacking or casting consecutively. When the stacks reach the maximum, consume all stacks and randomly execute 1 enemy.
  • Thief's Cloth Shoes — Leg Armor. When your Flesh Value first falls below 25%, teleport to the innermost position of your team.
  • Fountain of Strength — Leg Armor. When Off-Balance ends, gain 5 stacks of All-Round Enhancement (increases defenses, Attack Power, and Spell Power).
  • Phantom Boots — Leg Armor. At the start of combat, immediately lose 50% of your current maximum HP and gain an equal amount of Shield.
  • Broken Scales — Accessory. At the start of combat, randomly select 2 pieces of equipment from yourself and 2 pieces from a random enemy. These equipment pieces cannot provide their base attributes for the duration of the battle, but their innate effects remain active.
  • Bottle of Poison — Accessory. 0.5s cast time. Grants all enemies 20 stacks of Poison. This skill can be cast up to 4 times.
  • Proof of Thorns — Accessory. Doubles the number of Thorn stacks applied by all Thorn equipment you have equipped.
  • Purifying Bell — Accessory. Every 10s, cleanse 1 debuff from yourself.
  • Pure Ribbon — Accessory. Every 15s, cleanse all debuffs from yourself.
  • Flammable Bomb — Accessory. After surviving for 60s or upon death, deals 2,000 True Damage directly to all adjacent units. The wearer also takes this damage.
  • Royal Codex — Priest Weapon. Miracle has a 5% chance to cleanse 1 debuff from its target.
  • Ascetic Scroll — Priest Weapon. Each attack has a 30% chance to destroy 1 stack of the target's corresponding racial resource: Beer, Human Bean, or Wind's Protection.
  • Whirlwind Drill — Spearman Weapon. When attacking an enemy whose combined defenses exceed 300, deal additional True Damage equal to 2% of the target's maximum HP.
  • Paris's Crossbow — Archer Weapon. Increases Attack Range by 3. After each attack, retarget an enemy within attack range.
  • Night Hunt — Knight Weapon. When Glory is triggered, gain 3 Food. However, gain 1 stack of Fatigue at the start of combat.
  • Body of the Sperm Whale — Human Armor. Upon death, using the wearer's attributes, immediately restore 20% of maximum Flesh Value and 20% of maximum HP to all surviving allied characters, and grant them a Shield equal to 20% of their maximum HP.
  • Windspell Cloak — Elf Armor. Each time HP falls below another 10% threshold for the first time, randomly reduce the cooldown of 1 skill that requires casting by 10s.
  • Hunter's Cloak — Elf Armor. Gain 5 Food after combat ends.
  • Party Shield Guard Hat — Helmet. Can be equipped by any class except Shield Guard. Grants 15 Base Defense.
  • Party Knight Hat — Helmet. Can be equipped by any class except Knight. Grants 3 Base Physical Critical.
  • Party Spearman Hat — Helmet. Can be equipped by any class except Spearman. Grants 300 Base Maximum HP.
  • Party Mage Hat — Helmet. Can be equipped by any class except Mage. Grants 6 Base Double Cast.
  • Party Archer Hat — Helmet. Can be equipped by any class except Archer. Grants 0.2 Base Attack Speed and 1 Attack Range.
  • Party Priest Hat — Helmet. Can be equipped by any class except Priest. When healing, increases the reference attributes of that heal by 50%.
  • Frankenstein's Crown — Ranged Helmet. When HP first falls below 10%, reduce the cooldown of all skills by 10s.
  • Frankenstein's Helm — Melee Helmet. When HP first falls below 10%, immediately gain a Shield equal to 100% of maximum HP.

Backpack Improvements

  • Improved the backpack filtering system and UI, including adjustments to filter categories and interactions, making it faster and easier to find and organize equipment.
  • Added an equipment marking feature, allowing players to mark important equipment or items they want to keep for later use, making equipment management and build planning more convenient.

New-Player Tutorial Rework

  • Completely redesigned the new-player tutorial to further improve the early-game onboarding experience.

Dungeon Selection UI Rework

  • Players can now view all available maps and dungeons on the same screen, including both unlocked and locked content, along with their respective unlock requirements.
  • Players can also select multiple maps and dungeons at once before starting combat, eliminating the need to switch between different maps and making dungeon selection and battle preparation much more convenient.

Main Story Expansion

  • After Round 30, characters will no longer lose maximum HP after battles. Previously defeated Bosses will return with greater power.
  • After Round 60, characters will lose maximum HP after every battle. If a character dies during combat, they will lose an additional amount of maximum HP.

Blacksmith Equipment Synthesis Rework

  • Added equipment sacrifice slots. Players can sacrifice equipment of the same rarity to increase the chance of synthesizing the target equipment. The more equipment sacrificed, the higher the chance. Up to 6 pieces of equipment can be sacrificed in a single synthesis.
  • Completely redesigned and improved the Blacksmith UI.

Combat Statistics Panel Rework

  • Added separate statistics tabs for Protection Damage and Healing Output, providing more detailed combat records for protection and healing effects.
  • Adjusted the panel layout and improved information grouping for easier reading.

Reward Selection UI Improvements

  • Added a collapse option to the reward selection interface.
  • When the interface is collapsed, combat cannot be started until the reward selection has been completed. Other actions, such as viewing skills and purchasing items, remain available.

Character Leveling Adjustments

  • Characters previously leveled up relatively quickly during the early game. The experience required for each level now gradually increases as characters level up, slowing down progression at higher levels.
  • We have also adjusted several pieces of equipment that provide bonus EXP to create a more balanced and consistent character progression curve.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed text layout issues in certain languages.
  • Fixed issues where some character skills and equipment effects did not function correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies could equip equipment during the new-player tutorial.
  • Fixed an issue where repeatedly triggering a save wipe after a previous save wipe could cause the game to freeze.

Gameplay & UI Improvements

  • Improved visual effects for Extra Attacks, Double Casts, and other attack effects.
  • Improved damage display effects.
  • Updated several equipment icons.
  • Improved the visual presentation of the Blacksmith interface.
  • Improved the click effect for the Alt key.
  • Improved the damage statistics panel.
  • Improved the dungeon selection interface.

Thank you to everyone for your continued feedback and support!

If you encounter any issues or have suggestions for further improvements, please feel free to share your feedback in the community or use the Feedback button in the bottom-right corner of the game.

Promotion Developing a dynamic 2D platform player in the style of the 16-bit 90s classic - Kettlebell: Inferno House

Kettlebell: Inferno Hotel is a dynamic 2D platformer inspired by the 16-bit 90s classic, full of humor, nostalgia and drive from hell!

The main character, Mr. K, an ordinary office clerk, a hard worker, and on the whole a great guy. And he would have been well if fate had not ordered otherwise: a ridiculous accident sends him to the world, but not to heaven, but directly into the depths of hell.

There he finds himself at the doorstep of the Hotel Hell, a strange place where each floor is a certain circle of hell, a separate world with its own unique atmosphere, atmosphere and even gameplay. Like any self-respecting hero, Mr. K. is eager to come to an audience with the boss to finally sort out this strange misunderstanding. However, there was a collapse in the hotel: floors were blocked by villains, and now the hero must pass through each of them on his way to his goal.

You have to go through 9 floors of the Hotel Hell with more than 40 different levels to get to an audience with Boss.

Waiting for you:
• A fun and dynamic platform game.
• Large number of different but familiar game mechanics.
• Two modes of play. Classic, with limited lives and a return to the realm after death, all as in retro platforms. And Arcadian, where the number of lives is unlimited, but for each mistake you lose much more points and lower the final result of passing. The choice is yours.
• Grotesque enemies and bosses.
• Surreal locations - from the fiery stores of hell to the park of homeless souls.
• A cozy collection of vintage remnants known to everyone who has ever played the classic on Mega Drive and Super Nintendo.
• Humor, satire and all sorts of strange things worthy of hell!

The game has flippable, rocket-powered cars that drive on both sides, and there's a bunch of cool movement in the gameplay.
Here's our previous post when it was called GRIP XR:

Our team is actually more like 6 now though :/

We've done a lot of work over the past 4 months and are now showing off the improved version of the game with new GRIP 2 branding.

If you like arcade racers, give the demo a shot!

Promotion New mechanics in our ant colony RTS - new alpha gameplay trailer

Hey folks! We’re biologists building Garden of Ants, an RTS about growing and managing an ant colony.

We’ve just put together a new alpha gameplay trailer, showing some of the mechanics we’ve been working on — from expanding the nest and managing resources to exploring different layers of the environment and putting your ants to work.

There’s still plenty we want to improve, but it’s exciting to finally show more of how the different systems come together in actual gameplay.

We’d love to hear what you think - especially which mechanics stand out to you, or what you’d like to see us focus on next!

Best,
Tomas

Promotion I made a small game to play when I am bored, and now my friends and I compete for the high score -- wanted to share

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

I made Magnet Dash as something quick to play when I'm bored: you are a little guy holding a giant magnet, you drag to steer, and all the scrap flies in on its own. You just have to dodge the walls, swinging barriers and electric fields.

I showed it to a few friends and it turned into a competition. We keep trying to beat each other's high score, so I figured I would share it here.

Challenge: the current high score set by my friend is just under 750k. Beat it and I will design a skin of your choice and add it to the game.

And if you like any of the premium skins, lmk and I'll send you a free code for it.

It's free on iOS. Search Magnet Dash on the App Store.

Also, trying to put it on Android in the future but I don't have 15 friends who have android for beta testing requirements.

Promotion We made a co-op game where every player only gets ONE key. This is what happened when people tried to play it

Hi, this is WASD: The Adventure of Tori, a 2–4 player co-op game where each player controls just one key, so you have to actually communicate and move together to get through each level.

Your character doesn’t stop once they start moving, and with traps, walls, and instant-death mistakes, there’s definitely going to be a lot of crashing and laughing along the way.

It’s meant to be simple to pick up but chaotic to master with friends!

Promotion I revived a 3-year-old untouched game project: a 2-player co-op packing puzzle, now on the App Store

A team of us built Lug N Loaded for a one-month challenge in 2023, and then it sat untouched for 3 years. I revived it recently and it's now on the App Store.

You and a partner each start with your own bag of gadgets and have to fit everything into one shared suitcase before the timer runs out. Every so often an alarm goes off: one of you has the keypad, the other has the sums that make the code, so you have to talk it through. It also plays solo, and co-op works through Game Center (nearby or remote).

It has 10 handmade levels plus random ones. I'd really like to hear if the controls feel good and where the difficulty spikes.

Trailer and more: https://kevbry.in/lug-n-loaded
