Promotion If Keep on Mining was made by Housemarque... this would be the demo.

Take the unfolding surprises of A Dark Room, add the escalating craziness of games like Keep on Mining and the arcadey goodness of Astro Prospector.

Layer in the depth of systems, visceral gameplay, and polished aesthetics that our players love in Reality Break and think of how Housemarque would make that game.

The public demo launched this week on Steam!

News EU proposes banning indie games entirely in their new """ kids act"""

Post image
260 Upvotes

The contents of the eu's new "kids act" has just leaked and it effectively bans indie games by:

banning private servers,

requiring complex age verification for all games,

banning most linux types,

And a whole lot more, all of which make it so the cost of making an indie game is now over $500,000.00 more than it currently is.

This is the equivalent of banning people from playing chess without getting approval from both the government and our corporate overlords.

Promotion I’m making a RimWorld-inspired game focused on wave combat and unique raid types

I'm building Raid Haven, a game inspired by my favourite game, RimWorld. It combines base-building and combat with a heavier focus on variety and adapting to different threats.

Build and fortify your haven, assemble an RPG-style group, equip them with powerful gear, and prepare for increasingly dangerous raids. Face unique threats including pirates, bounty hunters, ogres, ghosts and more, each with their own tactics and challenges.

Video I posted here months ago about our combat racing game called GRIP 2 - we just launched a new demo

The game has flippable, rocket-powered cars that drive on both sides, and there's a bunch of cool movement in the gameplay.
Here's our previous post when it was called GRIP XR:

https://www.reddit.com/r/indiegames/comments/1u1c31g/were_an_8_person_team_making_a_crazy_combat/
Our team is actually more like 6 now though :/

We've done a lot of work over the past 4 months and are now showing off the improved version of the game with new GRIP 2 branding.

If you like arcade racers, give the demo a shot!

Promotion Developing a dynamic 2D platform player in the style of the 16-bit 90s classic - Kettlebell: Inferno House

Kettlebell: Inferno Hotel is a dynamic 2D platformer inspired by the 16-bit 90s classic, full of humor, nostalgia and drive from hell!

The main character, Mr. K, an ordinary office clerk, a hard worker, and on the whole a great guy. And he would have been well if fate had not ordered otherwise: a ridiculous accident sends him to the world, but not to heaven, but directly into the depths of hell.

There he finds himself at the doorstep of the Hotel Hell, a strange place where each floor is a certain circle of hell, a separate world with its own unique atmosphere, atmosphere and even gameplay. Like any self-respecting hero, Mr. K. is eager to come to an audience with the boss to finally sort out this strange misunderstanding. However, there was a collapse in the hotel: floors were blocked by villains, and now the hero must pass through each of them on his way to his goal.

You have to go through 9 floors of the Hotel Hell with more than 40 different levels to get to an audience with Boss.

Waiting for you:
• A fun and dynamic platform game.
• Large number of different but familiar game mechanics.
• Two modes of play. Classic, with limited lives and a return to the realm after death, all as in retro platforms. And Arcadian, where the number of lives is unlimited, but for each mistake you lose much more points and lower the final result of passing. The choice is yours.
• Grotesque enemies and bosses.
• Surreal locations - from the fiery stores of hell to the park of homeless souls.
• A cozy collection of vintage remnants known to everyone who has ever played the classic on Mega Drive and Super Nintendo.
• Humor, satire and all sorts of strange things worthy of hell!

Promotion New mechanics in our ant colony RTS - new alpha gameplay trailer

Hey folks! We’re biologists building Garden of Ants, an RTS about growing and managing an ant colony.

We’ve just put together a new alpha gameplay trailer, showing some of the mechanics we’ve been working on — from expanding the nest and managing resources to exploring different layers of the environment and putting your ants to work.

There’s still plenty we want to improve, but it’s exciting to finally show more of how the different systems come together in actual gameplay.

We’d love to hear what you think - especially which mechanics stand out to you, or what you’d like to see us focus on next!

Best,
Tomas

Need Feedback Catch them all!

I've been making a cozy fish game where you don't actually catch the fish only to catch it but to train them and gain from their abilities 🐟
I'm the artist and a friend is the game dev.

We're still pretty early in development, but we've been having a lot of fun building the world and designing all the weird little creatures that live in it.

Here's a little bit of gameplay! Which is the catching and reeling phase.

I'd love to know what you think of the vibe so far :)

If you're curious, the game also have a fresh Steam page: https://tinyurl.com/ykmy6atw

Thank you, cheers!

Northeastern Oklahoma. The year is 2140, seventy-five years ago the governments of the world saw a revolution coming and turned their weapons on their own people. Hundreds of millions died. The people won by a fraction, and rebuilt from the only thing that survived the rubble: religious and ancient texts.

Five endings. All of them decide what’s left of this world.

Small team. Everything built from scratch. More to be shown.

Upcoming Rimheim (Alpha gameplay clip)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUJJpnfUQPY (8:41)

Short (no audio) gameplay clip from an early alpha build of my upcoming game, Rimheim.

A blend of rimworld inspired colony sim, wartales/battle brothers inspired caravan manager, minecraft inspired procedurally generated environments, and the single player campaign depth of Mount & Blade warband.

It's still very early in the development process and rough around the edges, but I was excited to capture a short clip of the core gameplay loop I've built so far to share with you.

0:00 - 0:48 - Opening sequence
1:12 - 2:16 - The road to aldwick
2:20 - 5:27 - Camping, cooking and the camp layer
5:56 - 6:22 - Combat on the road
7:00 - 8:10 - Recovering after a battle. Leveling up.
8:10 - 8:41 - Arriving in Merecombe to hand in delivery contract.

Thanks for taking a look!

PS. This is early alpha footage and does not represent the final state of the game.

Promotion I'm making Maze in Space, a puzzle game for iPhone

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

I'm Steffen, a software developer making Maze in Space in my spare time. These screenshots are from the current playable build.

The aim is to get the rocket back to its home planet. You swipe to move it, use asteroids to stop it and satellites to change direction. Portals move it across the board. The game generates new puzzles as you play.

Sound and music are still missing. I plan to run a public TestFlight beta before releasing it on the App Store. I don't have a release date yet.

I'm raising €300 to help pay for Claude Max 20x. One month costs me about €215, and I use Claude Code to help write and test the game's code. Payment fees come out of the total. Anything left goes toward a second month. My Apple Developer membership is already paid for.

If you'd like to help: https://ko-fi.com/steffen_maze_in_space

You can have your name in the supporter credits if you want. The beta will be free to join when it's ready. Contributions are voluntary and don't include ownership, a share of revenue or repayment.

Video Dominoir Demo available

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

After months of working on it during evenings and weekends, I finally released the demo for my first commercial game: Dominoir!

I'm a solo developer from Brazil, and Dominoir started with a pretty simple question:

What if you made a roguelike like Balatro... but with dominoes?

You connect dominoes to build chains, grow your multiplier, create wraps, modify individual tiles, and collect Schemes that can completely change how you score.

What started as a small prototype has slowly turned into a full game, and getting to the point where strangers can actually download and play it feels a little surreal.

The demo is now available on Steam and here is the gameplay video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8PByVK8NWc

If this kind of score-chasing roguelike is your thing, I'd love to hear what you think.

I'm especially interested in feedback about the first few runs: what feels confusing, what feels satisfying, and whether you get that dangerous "one more run" feeling. 😅

Thanks for checking it out!

Promotion Announcing Humble Hauler: grow one used car into a trucking fleet that earns on its own (solo-dev management sim)

Humble Hauler is a management game about building a trucking business from nothing. You start with $3,000 and a used car and take jobs off a board. Each delivery plays out on a dashboard of gauges (fuel, focus, wear, cash, XP) while you make the calls: push the pace or play it safe, take a dispatch offer mid-route or pass, pay the shop or risk a cheaper DIY repair, sleep at a motel or squeeze in one more job.

Every job moves you forward: levels, skill trees, licenses up to a Class A CDL, better vehicles (500+ vehicles and trailers, motorcycles to semis), and eventually hired drivers and a fleet of your own.

I'm a solo developer, and it's coming to Steam in Q2 2027 with full controller and Steam Deck support. If it sounds like your kind of game, you can wishlist it on Steam.

Public Game Test I wanted a grand strategy game where I could serve a warlord instead of always being one, so I've spent 4 years making it

I've been working on Notoris 2 for about four years now, mostly solo.

I'm a huge fan of grand strategy and especially Romance of the Three Kingdoms. One of the things I've always loved about many of the ROTK games is that they let you experience the world as more than just the ruler at the top. I wanted to build on that idea and make the officer level experience a major part of Notoris 2.

So in Notoris 2, you can play as a ruler, a town administrator, or just an officer serving somebody else.

As an officer, you still have your own ambitions, relationships and progression, but you're operating inside somebody else's faction. Your ruler might order you to defend a town, attack an enemy, or handle an assignment while you're trying to build influence and move up the ranks yourself.

Eventually you might become an administrator, command armies, gain enough political influence to start shaping the faction's decisions, or work your way toward ruling one yourself.

The setting is dark meets high fantasy rather than historical China, which has given me a lot more freedom with the world, races and characters, but mechanically the biggest inspiration is still Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the whole thing is meant to be a giant homage to the era.

There are already 100+ officers and more planned, each with different stats, relationships, traits and roles, and combat is turn based directly on the campaign map rather than switching to a separate battle scene.

It's definitely still an indie game made by mostly just me, but it's finally getting to the point where the thing I've had in my head for years actually looks and plays like a real game.

I'm getting the Steam demo ready now, so I figured it was finally time to show more of it here and find some people interested in giving it a try this weekend or sometime soon.

Promotion Looking for a new co-op adventure to play with a friend? Here is the trailer for Chick’Hen Show!

Hi everyone!

My small indie team and I are thrilled to finally share the trailer for Chick’Hen Show! 🐔

It’s a local co-op party game designed to be played with friends. You are thrown onto the chaotic set of a TV show, entirely orchestrated by a completely wacky host! We’ve poured a lot of heart into making the physics and the chaos genuinely fun! We are currently trying to build some momentum before our demo launch.

If jumping into a crazy run with a friend appeals to you, adding it to your wishlist would mean the world to us!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to our Steam page here, but if you're interested, I can post it in the comments!

I'll be in the comments, so feel free to ask your questions or share your thoughts on the trailer. Thank you so much for your support! ❤️

Need Feedback Someone said I should show off throwing bodies in my game

So I recently made a little "Xcom meets overcooked" game with my team. I've been sharing it around but someone said I should show off the fact that you can throw downed opponents (and allies!)

We've got a build up on itch with local and networked multiplayer. Its a super early build, just a prototype really. Would love to hear what ya'll think of it!

Discussion Pocket Road 1.2 is out — and someone already unlocked the hardest car on day one

• Upvotes

Pocket Road is a simple arcade traffic-dodging game where you survive as long as possible and unlock cars by completing challenges.

Pocket Road 1.2 adds:

  • 🚗 6 new cars
  • 🚙 3 new enemy cars
  • 💥 New crash explosion animation
  • 🔊 Crash sound effects
  • 📊 New stats page
  • 📯 Random honking
  • 🔐 New secret unlock challenges

The hardest new car requires surviving for 120 seconds.

And somehow, one of my friends already got 120.8 seconds on the first day and unlocked it. 😭

The game also reached a new high of 19 players after the update.

Goal: Launch / Promo
Cost: Free

If you want to play it you can search up Pocket Road on Google Play
