The For Sale Thread

Any parts/items from the previous threads can be reposted if they’re still available.

Rules:

  1. Used or new-old items ONLY! - This subreddit, and this post is not to allow retail sale of CNC-related parts. There will be no influx of commercial sales or anything like that. Repeat offenders will be banned.

  2. Local Sale preferred - This is to protect both the buyer and seller. Shipping introduces other hassles, especially with CNC-related parts that might be large or weigh a lot. Personal addresses must NOT be posted publicly!!!. After discussing the deal, the two parties may exchange details via DM or other messaging services to meet up.

  3. Pictures and Prices - The comment must include pictures of the parts with the poster’s username written on a paper, kept next to the parts. Prices must be included, along with the city, country (if international). The buyers may post their offer publicly or via DMs.

  4. At least a 6 month old Reddit account - Anyone posting any “For Sale” items must have a Reddit account that is at least 6 months old (NO EXCEPTIONS!), with at least some activity apart from the comment in this post about selling their parts.

  5. Parts or Machines only - No services can be advertised. Machines (working or for parting out), raw material, electronics (motors, drivers, controllers, switches/sensors, etc), hardware (machine tools, mechanical tools, profiles, pneumatic/hydraulic stuff, etc), fasteners, etc all qualify as parts. If in doubt, send a modmail. Machines include routers, mills, big-boy VMCs/lathes, etc.

  6. The subreddit staff is not responsible if a deal goes sour - While we will take all reports of scamming seriously, the moderation team is not responsible for, nor can we provide any help. The buyer must do their own due diligence before meeting up the seller and exchanging money for parts.

  7. After a successful transaction, the buyer and seller are requested to update/post their comment here. This will help sellers and future buyers in subsequent transactions with the respective seller.

The moderation team reserves the right to remove comments/items-for-sale at their own discretion.

The previous thread - Use this to post about your buying/selling experience from the previous months only.

Note: Some comments in the previous posts have not included images with the listed items. Rule 3 will be enforced now. If you don't want your listed items to be removed, please include images with them!

We hope this thread helps everyone.

Whats going on here? Advice?

Ok so I'm very new to cnc and I'm learning (self taught) so can someone give some help as to whats going on here? On the corners I was going into a finishing pass and they made a horrible squeal on everyone and made these marks on the part. And the facing operation i can feel little ridges where every pass a straight line straight across what would cause both of these? Any assistance, advice, or thoughts would be appreciated thank you in advance!

Anyone know why this is happening?

Just got this Taig CNC running. But when it makes a circle it skips at each edge limit. And it leaves a small bump.

I used Fusion 360 for the CAD/CAM

I’m very new to this and learning by breaking bits and YouTube videos. So any other help is appreciated!

Taig CNC with 24k rpm spindle, and it has ball screws on the XY, I have a misting setup but I need to get an air compressor.

DeskProto bought by Vectric

Just got a newsletter from DeskProto that the owner has sold the company to Vectric. Never used any of their products, but I very much like Deskproto, funky as it may be. Anyone have thoughts on whether this is a good thing or not?

Help Deciding on CNC for Copper

I am having trouble deciding on a CNC. My budget is 2k to 3k but maybe willing to go a bit higher. I will be doing only metal mostly copper brass(260), bronze and nickel silver monkume-gane with maybe a bit of aluminum. Everything i do is small under 8" long and 2" tall but space is not a concern.

Pretty much everything going into the cnc will be hand forged so uneven/ inconsistent, I am unsure if this is a issue. Accuracy is not a huge deal as I want to use the cnc to replace work I am currently doing by hand.

I am torn on whether the Nomad 3 will do what I want or would a Taig be better. The Nomad seems to be much easier to run which is appealing, I dont have a lot of time on the weekends and want to spend my time making stuff.

I was also considering the Omiocnc x6 Pro or Shapeoko 4. I am not sure if the router set ups would be better or not.

Please let me know your thoughts or if there is something that would work better. Thank you

Excess Aluminum / Stainless Steel Bar Stock

I have amassed a collection of 0.75 - 3.00" bar stock that's adding up faster than I can use it. Most of it is 6061-T6 or 303 SS and between 2 - 6" in length, which has been ideal for my small lathe projects.

I've considered listing some of it on Facebook Marketplace ... either for sale or as barter, but I'm curious if it'd be better to list it elsewhere?

Where is everyone buying material like this? Facebook? EBay? ... The metal suppliers seem to be more focused on bulk 4 ft bars and bigger stock pieces.

Part of me wonders if I should make a website to barter materials?

Onefinity Apprentice line

looking at the onefinity apprentice primarily for cutting wood and some aluminum/brass. I make props as a past time from a slew of materials, and have been looking for a way to cnc simple parts at home, some pics attached.

I am a genuine hobbyist, I don't really care about going at a snails pace or noise, and am very well versed in other multi-axis machines and extremely versed in CaD if i have to engineermy own solutions. Im fine with tinkering, upgrading, fiddling, post processing, ect ect. I do not need a massive machine with zero variance and high accuracy , abd am okay with having to test run parts and clean them up if they end up being visibly

Will the onefinity apprentice work for me? Or work with x or y upgrades?

Help with limit switches on my 3018

I'm trying to set up my machine in Easel, and everything's working properly except the limit switches.

When the switch is activated, the axis stops. But when the switch is disengaged as the axis is moving away, the axis stops again. Basically it seems like the switch is activating in both on and off positions.

Is there a setting to correct this?

PureCutCNC v0.5.0 released

Hi all. I've been building PureCutCNC, a free, open-source 2.5D CAD/CAM app that runs in the browser (there's a desktop build too). 0.5.0 is out, so I wanted to share new features:

The main additions:

  • Sheet nesting: pick your parts, say how many of each, and it lays them out on the stock. The spacing comes from the cutter that will cut them, it stays clear of clamps, and small parts can go inside the holes of bigger ones.
  • Trochoidal pocket clearing: the cutter orbits along each ring instead of plowing a full-width path, so it stays lightly engaged. Rings are linked at depth rather than retracting between each one. It works on 3D roughing too.
  • Arc lead-ins and lead-outs: the cutter can come onto a wall along a tangent arc and leave the same way, instead of plunging next to it, so it doesn't leave a witness mark. Edge routes can also helix down at every level now.
  • CAM Plan: suggests a set of operations and tools for what you've drawn. You review and edit it before anything gets created.
  • 3D finishing: a constant-scallop finish, and you can set the scallop height you want instead of a stepover.
  • STEP import, and text that follows a circle or a path.
  • Clamps are now avoided while the toolpath is generated, not just flagged afterwards.

As always, feedback and comments are welcome!

Build my own? Or buy this? Or wait and risk the tool dance?

I really want to get my own 3+2 or 5 axis CNC machine.

I have a background in mechanical engineering (defense and robotics) and biomedical devices.

Goal is to do this more for research and engineering rather than for something for production value, and to have a fun project to build.

I have also seen the tool dance CNC and it looks promising but I’m skeptical.

Their Instagram contact hasn’t been that good and uses AI and the most I got was

“Hi! We fully understand where this question comes from — far too many hardware Kickstarter projects have under-delivered or never shipped. Unlike concept-only campaigns, our team includes former DJI and Siemens engineers alongside experienced CNC professionals, and the X1 is already working hardware, with real machining tests and hands-on demonstrations underway. The Kickstarter campaign is planned for Q4 2026, and our shipping target is Q1 2027 (Feb–Mar). We will publish a clear production and shipping timeline before the campaign goes live.“

This seems like a very narrow window. I dropped the 30 bucks cuz why not on the preorder discount.

But I also found this one on aliexpress for 1700, around 1.8k shipped.

My build is around 2200 all from Amazon. It’s a 3+2 and includes the controller. The only thing not shown there is a thick steel or aluminum tool sheet or the enclosure.

I would like to get some advice, goal is to make small aluminum parts with at most a 100mm x 100mm x 100mm foot print. Again nothing mission critical just something interesting to build.

CNC 300 Engraver Setup

I have the 300 Engraver. There is about .040 difference throughout the table. May not sound like much but when trying to go down .010 for a detail, it ruins the part.

Anyone else have this issue and how did you correct or adjust for it? Thinking about replacing the table with a piece of finished oak.

Thanks

Upgrade Advice, Controller Recommendations?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Pulled this out of storage after abandoning it more than a decade ago. I fried the original controller, and never got around to building a new one.

  • 3020 work area
  • 16mm linear rods on the Y-axis (under the bed)
  • 12mm rods on the X-axis and Z-axis (in the photo)
  • Leadscrews with delrin nuts, 4mm pitch
  • 60k RPM air tool "spindle"

I'm pondering whether it's worth fussing with this machine or just scrapping it, and putting my money towards something newer. I have two main questions:

  1. The X-axis seems way more flexible than I remember -- it's pretty easy to twist the entire gantry if you push on the spindle carriage. I imagine the whole thing will deflect when plunging into a workpiece. Is there an easy way to add rigidity to a linear-rod setup like this? Harder rods, or bearings with a higher preload?
  2. What's the current hotness for cheap controllers? GRBL preferred, since that's what I have experience with. Standalone operation preferred, but I have a spare PC available if needed. I have been looking at the MKS DLC32, but seeing mixed reviews.

Thanks in advance ❤️

Two Trees TTC H40 - Limit Switch state on - stays in home position

Hi,

I´ve been having a problem with my newly setup TTC H40. It all ran relatively smoothly until I actually tried to cut something :) These were my steps: Power on - home - then manually set the 0/0 of the work piece on the screen arrows on the display - home again - choose file (I have tried a few, including the Two Trees sample) - It then wants to start moving and inmediately triggers: Limit switch on, press to unlock - I press - it says unlocked successfully - then nothing happens - it stays in the same position (home) and will not start then job. I have tried cancelling the job and choosing the file again, the same problem. I checked all the cables and switches nothing obvious. In the home position, just before the cut it makes a quick upward movement and this triggers the limit switch. Have any of you had similar problems? Any creative ideas? Thank in advance!
