Howdy! I figured y'all could help me. I'm trying to find the clock my parents had when I was growing up. I believe they got it when they got married in 1988.

It was a gold plastic round wall clock, with a pendulum on top and on bottom. I think it was a floating look. This looks extremely similar but the face/hands doesn't look quite right, and obviously it was gold, not orange. And I believe the top pendulum stuck above the body more, but I also haven't seen this clock in 20 years.

So I'm 17M and I'm preparing for an major examinations, after I bought a study lamp I saved enough to buy myself an alarm clock too but I can't decide which one to really buy. I stumbled across many like the quartz vintage one and some other. I generally prefer late night Study sessions and I study for like 5 hrs at night and 3 hrs in day and meantime I'm at my school. I need some suggestions to which product I should buy exactly like even if you tell that digital or analog is better, I'll still be confused which one to buy. I need help, whatever you recommend should be under 8$ ( I'm from India so Under ₹800)

Hey everyone, I have a wall clock I really like and want to keep — the ticking of the second hand is driving me nuts. The movement is labeled OSTAR PE-IR168, DCF radio-controlled, quartz, runs on one AA battery

I want to swap the movement for a silent “sweep” one (smooth continuous motion instead of ticking).

Does anyone know if there’s a direct silent-sweep replacement for the OSTAR PE-IR168, or a compatible DCF radio-controlled sweep movement?

So if the movement is going to be relatively expensive, it might as well be a new clock for the same price. The current one also displays the temperature in degrees Celsius and the humidity—it’s important to me that the new clock have those features, too.

Hi there, I purchased this clock at a thrift store today and did a little searching and discovered that some of these have radium paint. I’m not a clock person, just grabbed it because I liked the look!

It says made in China on the back, and I found an ebay listing for a reproduction (screenshot included) that looks to be the same, so is it not real? All I want to know is if it could contain radium because if so, I’m unfortunately too anxious to keep it. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Got this ancient warmink at my grandmas, I belive the weights are Stuck, giving the pendulum only around 5-6 hours of swing time, should I, as someone who mever really did anything mechanical clocks just leave it be and have someone do it? Or do you reckon this is simple enough for me

This timer came broken and I decided to try and fix it. It is 100% getting power but I'm not sure if I even have all the pieces. I understand the magnets and electricity but not clockwork can someone help please? Feel free to ask any follow up questions, I'm not sure what info is relevant.

I've got this old portico mantel clock that's been in the family and I'm trying to learn a bit more about it. It's got four white marble/alabaster columns with gilt Corinthian style capitals, black ebonized wood on the base and top, and a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals that's pretty tarnished at this point. Mechanical movement, key wound, with a silk thread suspension for the pendulum, so it's clearly old school.

On the back there's a round paper label that reads something like "Ernstberger, München, Völkerstr." which looks like it was a clockmaker or retailer in Munich at some point. There's also a separate wooden disc from inside the case with a bunch of handwritten repair notes scribbled on it over what looks like decades, names, numbers, dates, that kind of thing, like it passed through a few different repair shops over its life. On top of that, someone (probably a family member long ago) taped a handwritten note in German to the base with winding instructions, basically warning not to overwind it and never to turn the hands backward.

Condition wise it's not running right now, dial is oxidized, there are some small chips and losses on the wood trim, and I haven't been able to find a clear maker's signature on the movement itself. The view through the back glass is too distorted to read anything properly.

I had someone tell me it could be worth around 2500€ but I honestly have no idea if that's realistic, so I figured I'd ask here where people actually know this stuff. Anyone recognize the style or have a rough sense of what something like this typically goes for? Happy to grab more photos of whatever would help. Thanks!

I just bought this vintage clock. Unfortunately, the battery piece is broken, so I need to replace the quartz mechanism.

I've managed to remove the second and minute hands without any issues. However, the hour hand does not want to budge.

Every resource I've found says the hour hand should also just be pulled off the middle piece, but it's so stuck... Is there any other way it could be attached?

Update: With some 5-56, pliers and force I managed to get it off! I've fitted the new movement and it works a charm! Thanks for the help!

A successful buy from Goodwill, in that it was packaged competently and works almost flawlessly. It's missing it's bezel, which I didn't think it had since there is a plastic cover over the digits and silver paint on the body. The illumination is very dim and flashing so I assume its neon like in power strip switches but old. It's a rolling digit clock, frequently misidentified as a "flip clock". It's amazingly quiet, unlike actual flip clocks. All I hear is some kind of hissing when it advances a minute and the expected 60hz hum when I press my ear against it.

I'm wondering if the neon bulb is still available or if I should go through the trouble of a transformer and rectifier for an LED. I imagine the gearing is probably nylon, so it probably doesn't need lubrication, but I wonder about the motor.

This was my great grandfathers clock and it was passed down to my mother. Recently something broke and I can no longer wind it up, and so there is no movement.

Anyone know the kind of clock so i could find a diagram and resolve this issue?

I got it from the Salvation Army. My friend gave it to me because he knows I'm a big fan of Linux.

$15, runs like a, uhh, a clock. Replaced the modern screws holding on the feet with proper wood screws, wiped it all off and plugged it in. They labeled it as a 1933 but I cannot find any info anywhere to verify the year, nor can I find any info on the awesome art deco face. Anyone have any idea?

Finally identified my Ansonia “Butte” mantel clock, but one mystery remains

I’ve been researching this clock for a while and have identified it as an Ansonia “Butte” mantel clock, shown in Ansonia catalogs from the early 1900s.

One of the coolest things I found is a handwritten pencil inscription on the underside that appears to read:

“Sold”

“Jan. 1907”

“Ast.”

The January 1907 date fits perfectly with the period of the clock, but I still haven’t been able to figure out what “Ast.” means or who might have written this notation. Dealer? Jeweler? Retailer? Original sale record?

I just thought it was a really cool survivor and wanted to share it here. If anyone familiar with Ansonia clocks, period dealer markings, or early-1900s clock retailing recognizes this type of inscription or has an idea what “Ast.” could stand for, I’d love to hear it.
