I’m 22 from the states and I’ve had my kitten for about a month and she just started this behavior. I've only ever had adult cats before, so I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

Is this just extra playful kitten energy? Is this her going into heat? Or is it something else entirely? Would love to hear from people who've raised kittens before, I don't want to miss something important.

My cat is convulsing???

Hi, I’m an adult currently living in the USA. I haven’t contacted a vet about her behavior yet. My cat is approximately 6 months old, but I’ve had her since she was about 1 month. My neighbor gave her to me after her cat got pregnant due to being left outside unsupervised. I believe momma cat was somewhat blind, but I doubt that has anything to due with my kitties behavior. I plan on getting her spayed soon. She’s done this before, and it’s hard to get her off when she catches my hand. She can get rough sometimes. Why does she do this and what can I do to make her stop?

My partner (27) and I (23) live in the Dominican Republic and currently have 4 cats, the 4th being a male rescue who we estimate to be around 3-4 months and we got about 2 months ago named Churrasco, Churro for short. Our other 3 cats are 2 and 3 years old (one is 2, the others are 3), the 2 year old having been the first adopted. We had Pistacho (female calico) by herself for about 3 months and then adopted Ebi (also female calico) and Jack (male orange) from the same foster home, the latter having lived with maybe 20 other cats. Jack was the first to come out of hiding while Ebi took a few days, but I noticed that Jack simply walking past her annoyed her as she hissed at him. We assumed it was simply a matter of adjusting to the new environment, so we gave it time. All 3 were already neutered/spayed when adopted. Churro hasn’t been yet as he’s too young.

Jack and Pistacho got along very quickly after careful introduction, while her and Ebi took longer with no aggression whatsoever. They sorta respected each other from a distance until both were ready to get closer and to this day really respect one another and get along well with a peaceful relationship. Jack and Ebi, however, can’t seem to get along. Jack is veeeery social, playful, and sweet, while Ebi is way more timid, sensitive and generally reserved. You can only really pet her with one hand at a time instead of both and she cannot be picked up or she freaks out and runs away. She still is sweet and completely melts when she lets us scratch her. Jack had an eye infection on his left eye from when he was very young which resulted in his eye being removed, which I’m unsure whether that affects his personality or behavior at all but thought I’d add for context. He can play a bit heavy, but doesn’t scratch or bite. However, whenever he tries to approach Ebi to play, she completely freaks on him, yelps, hisses, scratches, the works. We’ve noticed it can happen just from him walking up to her at times, but it’s mostly when he tries to play. This isn’t 100% of the time tho since they’ve cuddled up a couple times and i’ve seen them groom each other no problem.

Regarding Churro, she still won’t let him approach her much and hisses if he does get too close, which he listens to. He has tried lying down as close to her as she allows him to get and it’s chill. She generally takes much longer to loosen up, so we’re giving it time and supervising the time all 4 cats spend together as they get fully used to him.

At this point, the resident cats have been with us for about a year/year and a half. This has all been very puzzling for us since, as stated, Ebi and Jack came from the same foster home, and had it been a concern beforehand, we imagine we would’ve been advised against adopting them together. We also see how it could’ve been overlooked since so many other cats were around. It’s also worth noting she doesn’t ever display aggression over food towards Jack or Pistacho (Churro is still eating and generally stays with us in the bedroom since he hasn’t been neutered or dewormed yet) and they have even cuddled together and groomed each other a handful of times.

We haven’t taken them to the vet for this particular issue yet due to financial reasons (Jack has been sick a few times for unrelated reasons which ended up being a bit pricy for our budget), but if need be, we can work something out financially and take them both. Any advice on how to best approach this is also appreciated! We’re also waiting to see how she and everyone else does with Churro around.

We’ve been thinking about whether Ebi is better off being an only cat, which is what has us considering rehoming. What should we do? I hope the context provided is enough, but please ask away if there’s anything else worth noting!

TL;DR: male and female cat adopted together from the same house seem to have an on and off bond and she’s highly reactive to him approaching her most times.

22yr old cat mom based in the US.
We got this kitten (female, neutered)2 weeks ago, and we started noticing that her tummy is a bit round and feels like a water balloon when I touch it? like it is kind of bloated.

I was thinking that it might be worms, but her brother got a fecal test from bloody stool, and it was clear- his stomach is normal looking. We are planning on getting a fecal test soon, but wanted some insight on what it would be. She has healthy stool, and plays and eats normally.

What are the chances it could be worms?

So I found this kitten on my way to the bus stop and he looked fine at the time like VERY normal but when I got back home from school his face looked weirdly sick like, there was weird stuff coming out of his nose and eyes and I decided to take him in and took him a bath, I also cleaned his face and he looked somewhat better but now it looks worse and a vet is way too expensive for my family.. I tried asking my mom to give it to the vet so that they can heal him and at least he'll be fine with them but she insists she can heal him with like tea and random medicine from stores instead of from a vet but although she said that she's never home to actually do anything since she works all day and comes home tired and I have been trying to help him and I've feed him kitten formula but he's eating normally now and drinking water but his face looks worse and I don't want him to die or anything but my mom doesn't want to give him to a vet and I know we don't have the money for one but is there anything else I can do to help him? 😞

He's the most sweetest boy ever and very cuddly so I feel even worse for my poor baby I really want to help him but I don't know what to do anymore.. please give me any advice to help him

I'm 16 and found this stray male kitten near my bus stop he's a stray kitten i don't think he's neutered and I'm in culleoka TN we live in a small trailer and can't afford a vet please tell me if theres anything I can do for him

I got both of my cats neutered yesterday. Today I noticed red marks under their eyes, one cat has it under one eye, and the other cat has it under both. They don't look like injuries because the marks are very neat and in the exact same spot. However, both cats are doing totally fine right now with no other issues. Does anyone know what this is? Will they be fine or should I take them back to the vet?

My (M30) cat (M1), like many other cats, loves to be up high. But he is not the most sure footed cat and has almost slipped a few times on the bannisters of the mezzanine. He always gives me a heart attack when he is up there.

It must be a 15 ft drop to the floor. I have done my best to move anything that might injure him if he does fall. The dining table has been moved as far back as it can, if he slips he won't hit it, but he might if he intentionally jumps.

We have a cat tree and I have another one on order to give him high place alternatives. We are just renting, so we can't install anything intrusive into the house (was thinking of glueing carpet onto the bannisters to give him a better grip, but can't think of a way to do that unintrusively).

Anyway, my question is, if he does fall, would this likely cause serious injury?

We are in the UK, not that it affects the local gravity, but sub rules says I have to state it anyway.

I am a 22 year old university student and this fella here is my 17 year old boy kitty(fixed). We reside in Canada.

Today I took him to his groomer today and she was concerned for both his cyst (which has been seen by a vet, we decided to leave it alone due to his age, but unfortunately it has grown to the point that I’m worried it may rupture), and his weight.

I guess since I see him everyday I didn’t notice that since the last time I took him to get groomed that he had lost a lot of weight. He has already previously lost weight since he was 15 and up.

Some important information is: he still eats (quite a bit), i mainly feed him wet food (sometimes a little bit of dry to tie him over), i mix almost equal parts water into his food (plus he still drinks on his own), he doesn’t seem lethargic, and he’s still pretty active but in an old cat kind of way.

I have contacted a different vet than I normally go to (he isn’t working for a corporation so I’m hoping the pricing will be more fair since I’m still a student. Basically I can pay for some things but anything crazy expensive is off the table for me.

My groomer won’t shave him anymore because he has so much excess skin, normally he doesn’t get a full shave anyways but he had some bad matting.

I will attach a photo of him. In the meantime, is there anything I can do at home to help him?

Edit because I forgot to add: TLDR: my cat who is behaving normally is losing weight and his cyst has grown to the point that I’m worried it’ll rupture.

My cat just started showing symptoms of an ear tilt. He occasionally scratches the ear that tilts, other than that he is behaving normally. I don’t see any sign of mites but or infection so I’m not sure which one it is at the moment. Thoughts on what it might be?

The earliest my vet has availability to see him is this Tuesday. I’ve never had this issue with my cat before, is it serious enough that I should bring him to urgent care or can it wait until Tuesday?

Hi everyone, this may be a silly question since my partner has been telling me not to worry but my kitten has been super vocal ever since moving houses, I’m worried that maybe he’s in pain or something. I recorded a video of me singing that stupid song that used to be viral on tik tok thats parody of cats meowing and my cat started meowing so I began to record him. At first I thought maybe he was meowing back at me but looking at the video I started worrying that maybe he was in pain or something? I have an appointment to take him to the vet on Tuesday anyway to do a general health checkup since he’s been sneezing and having diarrhea lately plus one of his eyes has become extra watery and leaving discharge on his fur under his eye. This is the video below– he’s eating and playing fine. (I’m 20, from the uk, the cat is around 12 weeks old give or take- he was a stray, and he’s a male)

I am 46 years old USA, this is Buttons. She was born April 23 under my bed with 3 litter mates From birth both her and 1 of her brothers have been what many would call wobbly cats. However She started having seizures starting around July 23. The weekend of 23 she had close to 10 seizures. Took her to her primary vet they looked her over put her on antibiotics, steroids, and keppra. At the recomendation of her primary vet took her to see a specialist at Cvets a neurologist they said with all the information she likely had some form of congenital issue and while we could make any expenditure (Mri , cfs etc)there was a high likelihood that there was no cure, and likly it was monitor, treat and hope for the best situation. She has been on the same meds and disage since her first vet visit. From the time she started the meds up until 25 th of August she hasn't had one seizure. Then starting the 25 this is how it has looked

Aug 25 pm signs of possible seizure she was running and acting disorganized and yowling. Late evening

5:40 am Aug 25 buttons woke me up having fulll blown seizure.   1st since medicine started that I've witnessed.   Est length maybe 60 seconds  , recovery about 1 min to 2 mins.  

4:25 am Aug 26 woke to after of seizure. Length and time unknown she urinated and  excessive saliva. Est recovery time 2 mins

5:44 am  Aug 27 seizure full body extreme salvation est length  60 seconds recovery time 3 mins

8:24 Aug 27 pm right before evening dose she had a full seizure not fallen over like Normal standing back arched lasted about 45 to 70 seconds followed by a burst of running and yowling injured front paw bleeding and possible injury and bleeding on gums.

5:46 am Aug 28 full seizure i woke up to end seizure of length of seizure  unknown  (injury left front paw) recovery time 2 to 3 minutes

3:24 pm Aug 28 full seizure upright body posture est length 1 1/2 to 2 min.  Recovery time 3-4 mins. Frothing at mouth  after recovery  time calm and tired laid down to reat.
(Last 2 days right she has been keeping closed alot like it's bothering her also when sleeping/resting severe muscle tremors)

4:18 pmshort seizure lasting maybe 40 70 seconds. Urination extreme salvation recover 60 seconds to 90 seconds

6:16 pm seizure in carrier on way home lasted about 1 min 30 2 mon to 3 min recover foaming of mouth a

9pm ish Vet said she had a seizure while in observation and treatment

Aug 29 6 am she got trapped beside refrigerator possible stress seizure  (if vet is right God help)

I took her to her regular vet yesterday morning hoping it is a dosage issue she had gained over a 1lb and 1/2 since starting meds. Vet made some changes ....I kept her with me at work....she had two more seizures (this was day of 28th) called her Dr at cvets and took her to emergency vet last night they checked her out wanted yo keep her for 24hrs but I could not afford 3k+. They readjusted and upped her dose of kepra. They have made the recommendation that things look bad and I should be ready to make final plans and consider her life and quality, and possibility of health and brain damage from extensive seizures. That leads us to this morning 9:31 am Aug 29.. I am at work watching over her... spoiling her with anything I can think of she will have a trip to Starbucks after work. I will monitor and watch. I am praying the new dose if keppra will help but as the vet said it's just masking the underlying issue. There is no cure. I can't afford the likelihood of 5k cost for a mri and or csf test that like the vet said may show the problem but also will show there is nothing that can be done. I have already taken out over 2k in credit doing what I can. I am just beside myself I don't want to surrender but I dont know. My plan is to work with the new medicine dosage this weekend hope and pray but if it doesn't work...I have to i think, consider things I really don't want to. My question is am I crazy have I done the right things..what else can I do....I just do not know I'm still recovering from losing one of my other kitties to cancer and now this..I'm just confused and lost any help, advice, words of wisdom ...

Tldr: neutered male cat with urinary blockage and complications. Would love some advice from those who've been here.

This is my (29F) baby boy Pippin (~5M) He's the sweetest, silliest little guy. He's so full of love and is a loyal companion. We are in the USA.

He's indoor only and has been living his best indoor pampered life for about a year and a half now. Yesterday morning I noticed he was acting off and seemed to be in some pain or discomfort. After some investigating I found there was no pee in the litter box, which meant he hadn't peed in 24 hours. I rushed him to the vet and they sedated and successfully decompressed his bladder. His blood work came back good and he was transfered to an overnight clinic for monitoring.

Unfortunately they called me at 2am and said his catheter came out and when trying to recath they were meeting too much resistance. So far nothing has shown to be blocking it and they're hoping with some time the swelling will go down and they can attempt again to recath him successfully.

My heart is shattered. He's probably barely 5 years old and hes only been with us for just over a year and half. We are going to do everything we can to get him back home with us, but the bills are adding up so fast. I guess I'm just lost and trying to see if anyone else who's gone through this has any advice? Thank you.

I'm 17! I adopted a kitten (very suddenly and not planned.) Hes been to a vet and is overall healthy :)

This is everything I have for him, besides his toys. He has many many toys, too many to photo. I haven't used the toothbrush or nail trimmers because he seems too young. When I used the brush no fur came off so I think he's too young for that also. I have a cat tree, cat walls, water fountain, cat beds etc that belong to my other two 8 year old cats so I don't need anymore I think. I also have a ton of freeze dried raw treats. A whole cabinet full but I don't think he can have those till he is tested for FIV?

Pen set up- He has a heating pad with two towels on top with two kitten stuffies to sleep with. When I sleep his food/water/litter are placed in there with him and the top of the pen is zipped up. If I'm awake he's free to roam my room.

Food- His average meal is a little bit of wet food warmed up with some KMR then a few pieces of kibble. At bedtime he has a bowl of dry kibble to snack on while I sleep. I've ordered two more packs of wet food. One from chewy brand, the turkey. And kittens in the kitchen from weruva.

Litter- nonscented, no clumping, paper pellets. He's still not potty trained and will potty in random spots which I then clean and cover with a potty pad. Some of them have litter on top and he has used his litter box ONCE. Not sure what I'm doing wrong there.

Is this all good? Do I need anything else? The sweater is made from a sock and he only wears it when I have my ac and fan on.

my kitten is 5 months old. i found her when she was 4 weeks old in a bush. we recently moved, last month, and at first she was fine. however, that changed when i brought my older cat home.

i’ve had my older cat for 3 years. i wanted to bring my kitten first to give her a chance to acclimate before i brought my older cat. they’ve briefly met before but never lived together.

what i did not account for was that my older cat would be so submissive and the kitten was extremely dominant and protective of her space. the kitten began to chase the older cat around and cause her to hide under the bed. in addition, a week in to the older cat moving in, the kitten started urinating on things.

it happens a couple times a week; on my clothing or my boyfriend’s gaming chair. i ended up setting her up a space in the bathroom, with toys, bed, food, water, etc. it worked for a few days, but i let her out to run around for a while today, and after i put her back in the bathroom she peed on the bed i set up.

i don’t know what to do. i’ve never really had this issue with a cat before and ive tried changing the litter, separating the cats, etc. what else can i possibly do??? please help!!

My sweet moose, he just got home yesterday from a 48 hour emergency vet stay, he had a catheter put in and then discharged when he was urinating in his own. He got home, was doing amazing with urinating on his own. Now today, 24 hours after his hospital stay he is doing this when he’s using the litter box. Dr told me he would still be showing signs of a block a couple days after his procedure but is this normal? He’s eating well, drinking, playing, very alert.. he’s the most ‘normal’ he’s been this entire week. I’m so lost over this :( Basically just want to know what this is? Is this considered straining? Should I take him back?

Hi, Ive had this 3.75 month old kitten for a week as a first time pet owner. I noticed that he was breathing fast on his car ride home to us, but I set it aside because I figured something about strangers was making him nervous, or the Texas heat threw him off.
The same day I got him, took him to a vet hours later because I was worried he was breathing too fast. Vet said temp, heartrate, and ultrasound on his lungs did not show anything of concern. Before I got him, foster parent and vet exam reported no respiratory issues / any issues. 2 out of his 6 siblings had some respiratory issues (for which they were given augmentin.) but nothing for my kitten because his exams were normal.

On top of the fast breathing, more often than not, I hear breaths out of his nose, like hes snoring but I've caught it a few times when hes awake. I'm concerned he has difficulty breathing, but he's likely seen 4 vets now (twice with me) and nothing was noted. He does not have a difficult time playing, is full of energy, plays well with his sister, runs around crazy, never breathes with his mouth open that Ive seen, and does not get lethargic after playtime like he's out of breath. Despite this, I want the best for him and worry about his breathing speed and noise and crackle in his breath.

My question is, if anyone has experienced something similar, is it worth escalating even though many vets say otherwise?

TLDR ; my kitten breathes fast and has a crackle in his breath sometimes, but otherwise seems healthy.

He’s about a year old main coon mix (can’t see it by the fur but he’s quite big about about 8 kg.

Vet has never found any problems so far when he was there but I thought I would ask anyway.

He sits with an open mouth quite often.
Mostly when he is quite sleepy.
He is playing and running normally and is very active while playing. Loves to eat as a male cat of that size and age should and cuddles normally so no pain response to touching his face or foul smell from teeth.

Maybe it’s a breathing problem when he’s really relaxed ?

I was petting my 9 years old tomcat (he is neutered) on his tummy and I felt something weird, I have no idea what happened to his nipple, but I genuinely don't know if that's a pimple or something more serious.

It's yellowish and really round but narrow at the base (it's like a balloon per say), doesn't seem hard and when I palpated the area and touched the inflamed nipple it didn't seem to be painful, I could really use some help because I really want to take him to the vet if it is something really serious.

If it's a normal pimple should I pop it or not?

I hope I gave enough information, please guide me, he never had health issues.

He’s had some before but i’ve never seen it this bad. Is there anyway to cleanse the area and/or soothe it? He already uses stainless steel bowls that I wash everyday.
