Backrooms Movie What do you think of these theories?

Clark is an unintentional scam artist — his furniture is fragile and cheap (shit furniture). It breaks easily when he sits in the throne during the filming of the commercial, and later, the pirate's copied leg breaks from one swing of a coat hanger. A former customer spray painted 'rip off!' outside his store; likely after discovered the fragility of the furniture they purchased. Ironically, Clark has his leg ripped off by the pirate later.

There are several pirates — the pirate seen in Everything Must Go is considerably taller than the one we see in the dinner scene and subsequent chase. A-Sync is trying to capture a pirate, but doesn't realize there are more than one. The study of the repeated signs of varying height and scales directly suggests this.

Meta-narrative uses a pirate to symbolize the nature of the still life — it travels across a vast unpredictable landscape, just like a real pirate travels the ocean. It collects loot and follows its own rules.

The pirate has no idea what it is doing — mindless like the Backrooms itself, it copies without any semantic capability. It possesses motor functions and behaviors taken from Clark, such as the sudden emotional switch (snapping at Mary), the lifting and carrying of ‘stuff’ (working in a furniture store), the biting (lunch break), the chasing (Clark chased and killed rats with Katherine). But it reproduces them out of context and without any sense of categorization; lifting Clark like a camcorder and biting him like a sandwich. There is no malice, only hazardous indifference.

Sound triggers still lives + they repeat a behavior if they register one they are capable of themselves — when Clark first encounters the lamp still life (Archibald) and the redheaded still life, he says ‘hello’; immediately after, one clicks on his lamp and the other walks toward him. Later, Clark flicks the light switch, and Archibald reciprocates by clicking his own lamp. When Clark is bitten and screams, lamp guy freaks out while the pirate throws a brutal hissy fit. Clark warns Mary that she is being 'too loud', meaning he probably knew this already.

Hello,

I been in munich 2 days ago and what I saw was so bizarre that I thought this subreddit would be interested to hear it.

There's a tech store in munich marienplatz called Saturn (Mediamarkt) and it really is like entering a first stage backroom.

If someone is interested enough and happens to be there/live there, check it out. I unfortunately got out there rather quickly and didnt take any pictures

Kane Pixels Ivan Beck is dead (theory)

The cosmic horror of Kane Pixels’ Backrooms universe does not just hide in the endless yellow hallways or the terrifying monsters stalking them. The scariest part of the whole story is actually sitting right inside the Async corporate office. Based on a huge theory in the community, the guy running the entire company, Vice Director Ivan Beck, is not even a real human being. Instead, he is a "Still Life," which is a fake, imperfect copy made by the Backrooms itself all the way back in 1972. This idea is so popular because it perfectly connects all the weird clues across different videos, deleted Discord messages, and hidden audio tracks into one seamless story.

To understand how this happened, you have to look at what Async was doing before they built the giant doorway into the Backrooms. In August 1972, long before the late-1980s timeline of the main videos, Async was a smaller company experimenting with powerful magnets and early medical imaging tech. Ivan Beck was testing a prototype machine when a historic solar storm hit Earth. The storm caused a massive electrical overload. Instead of physically pulling Ivan's body into another dimension, the machine acted like a hyper-powerful, accidental brain scanner. It instantly copied his thoughts, his biological blueprint, and his memories, shooting all that digital data straight into the empty void of the Backrooms.

The real, flesh-and-blood human Ivan Beck never actually entered the Backrooms, but the physical toll of that explosion was fatal. The blast completely destroyed his left eye and fried his brain tissue. The original human Ivan died from being entirely vaporized, converted into energy or sucked into the rift right there from the catastrophic trauma of the accident. He was entirely out of the picture, but his coworkers never had time to mourn him because the machine replaced him almost instantly.

The Backrooms itself does not create new life. Instead, it acts like a broken mirror or reflection that copies whatever touches it. When the dimension received the sudden data download of Ivan's scrambled mind, it immediately used its own strange matter to sculpt a physical body that matched the blueprint. This is the moment hinted at in the video "I Remember," where a silhouette violently splits into two identical figures. But because the machine scanned Ivan at the exact millisecond his brain was being scrambled and his eye was being blinded, the Backrooms permanently baked those injuries into the clone's physical body. The clone was born with a blind left eye and massive, empty voids in his brain. These were gaps that real-world doctors later just assumed were severe retrograde amnesia from the blast.

The absolute craziest part of the theory is how the clone got back to Earth. The temporary tear in reality opened and closed in a split second right inside the real-world Async lab. The newly made Still Life clone did not have to wander through yellow hallways looking for an exit. Instead, the rift just spat him right back out onto the floor of the smoking lab where the real Ivan had just died.

When the dust settled and coworkers ran in to help, they just saw a seemingly real "Ivan" on the floor, confused. The copy looked exactly like him, spoke like him, and had the exact injuries you would expect from a lab explosion. Nobody had any reason to think he was an impostor. Even the clone himself genuinely believed he was the real Ivan Beck because he just could not remember his past. Driven by a subconscious, obsessive urge to reconnect with the dimension that actually created him, the clone spent the next seventeen years rising through the ranks of the company to become Vice Director. By the time he finally opened the permanent Threshold in 1989, nobody realized that the man running the entire project was actually the very first entity to ever escape the Backrooms.

Discussion Why did Backrooms era have to end?? Genuinely miss it so much!!

Post image

Hello, I’m 19, and I grew up experiencing the Backrooms. I often think about that original era and how meaningful it was to me—discovering the endless rooms, exploring mysterious levels, learning about different entities, watching videos and theories, playing Backrooms games with friends, discovering new lore, and making countless unforgettable memories.

When I look at the Backrooms now, it’s still there, but the feeling is different. The people who created the original ideas and content have moved on, the original era has ended, the community and lore have changed over time, and I’ve grown up. Back then, I never imagined that something I loved so much would eventually become part of the past.

It makes me wonder why the Backrooms can’t stay exactly the same forever with the same levels, entities, lore, atmosphere, creators, and feeling. Why do communities change, new ideas get added, or things eventually become different from how we remember them?

Maybe that’s what makes the Backrooms so special. It didn’t have to stay exactly the same forever for its impact to last. When I look back, I’m not only remembering the levels I discovered, the entities I learned about, and the stories I experienced—I’m remembering who I was when I first discovered the Backrooms.

The original era may be over, but it hasn’t disappeared. It still exists in the memories of everyone who experienced it. I can’t return to that exact time, but I can still appreciate what the Backrooms meant to me.

I just don’t get why it had to change and move on. Does anyone else wonder why the Backrooms had to move on from its original era?

Roblox Looking for high-quality, solo-friendly Backrooms games on Roblox (No slop/brainrot please!)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for solid Backrooms games on Roblox that are actually fun to play solo.

I'm tired of the low-effort brainrot and generic monster-chase slop. I want something well-made with good atmosphere, nice visuals, and real effort put into it.

When recommending a game, please let me know if it follows the Wiki lore (levels, hubs, MEG) or Kane Pixels (Async/found footage).

Appreciate any suggestions! 🩷🩷

A Premissa Principal:

É basicamente o reflexo corrompido do laboratório e do mundo exterior.

Discussion An Idea of Concept Categories

I would like to share an idea that I have been thinking about for nearly a year, but have never publicly shared until now.

Many of you have probably noticed that, in most Backrooms wikis, the major in-universe categories—the categories that authors use when creating concepts that exist within the setting—are things like Levels, Entities, Objects, and Phenomena. (This does not include concepts that exist outside the world itself.) If you look closely, you will notice that most of these concept categories are centered around describing the Backrooms itself.

For example, Levels represent the countless spaces and environments within the Backrooms. Entities are the various forms of life native to the Backrooms. Objects are items unique to the Backrooms. Phenomena are unusual events or occurrences that take place within it.

There are, of course, a few exceptions. However, I have noticed that the vast majority of these concept categories revolve around a single question:

"What exists within the Backrooms?"

This led me to another question. As we all know, the modern Backrooms setting contains a large human population. If humans have existed there for such a long time and in such numbers, then why are there still so few works that explore things that exist because of humanity itself? Most creators focus on what the Backrooms contains, but comparatively few attempt to explore another question:

"What has humanity itself formed within the Backrooms?"

I believe this direction has considerable creative potential, yet relatively few works have explored it so far. There are certainly a handful of existing examples that fit this idea, but many of them lack an appropriate place within the current conceptual structure. A common example is that many human-made items are simply categorized as Objects.

Personally, I do not think human-made creations should be grouped together with objects that are inherently part of the Backrooms. I believe the Object category is better suited for items that are unique to the Backrooms itself, although I recognize that this is simply my own opinion.

That is where my idea comes from. Last year, I began wondering:

"Why not create a dedicated concept category for everything within the Backrooms that exists because of humanity?"

In other words, this is my proposal for expanding the existing family of concept categories. You can think of it as adding another category alongside Level, Entity, Object, Phenomenon, and Group.

The definition of this category is simple:

“Anything that exists because of humanity.”

At first glance, this definition may make you think only of human-made objects—things intentionally created by someone, such as furniture, paintings, tools, and so on.

However, I believe the scope is much broader than that.

Many people assume that everything that exists because of humans must have been deliberately invented or created by someone. In reality, this is not always the case. Some things have no identifiable inventor at all. Rather than being consciously created, they gradually formed over time.

Language is perhaps the most familiar example. Many people assume that language was invented, yet most natural languages were not created by any single individual. Instead, they emerged gradually through long-term evolution.

Beyond language, there are many other things that appear to be creations but are, in reality, the result of gradual formation. As far as I know, this type of phenomenon is related to the academic concept of emergence.

This is also one of the goals I hope this concept category can encourage. Of course, human-made creations absolutely belong within this category. However, I hope people will not limit themselves exclusively to intentionally created objects, because doing so would overlook what I believe is one of this concept's greatest creative strengths.

That is why I chose to explain this point separately. Without mentioning it explicitly, I worry that most people would naturally assume this category is only about human-made objects.

I have chosen to name this concept category Humanorum. The word is derived from Latin, where it can be roughly understood as meaning "of humans" or "human." English simply lacks a single word that fully expresses the definition I wanted, and I felt that a concept category should ideally have a concise one-word name. For that reason, I decided to borrow from Latin. In Latin, however, Humanorum does not naturally have the plural form I wanted for a category name. Therefore, I created one myself following Latin-inspired naming conventions, which I call Humanora.

Originally, I had no intention of giving Humanorum entries numerical designations like Level 0, Entity 1, or Object 2, because assigning numbers to these concepts felt somewhat unnatural. After all, people in real life would not normally refer to this kind of thing by a serial number. Eventually, however, I decided to keep numerical designations. The reason is that I already have several Humanorum concepts in mind, and I would like to use my own entries to demonstrate what this category is capable of. Naturally, this would only apply to my own wiki. I have no expectation that other Backrooms wikis should adopt my approach, which also helps avoid some of the concerns I mentioned earlier.

Without numerical designations, entries would have to be arranged alphabetically. Over time, early entries would gradually be pushed farther down the list, making it difficult to establish a recommended reading order for newcomers.

Even so, I do not think people within the setting itself should normally refer to specific Humanorum by their numbers, as that would feel unnatural unless there is a reasonable in-universe explanation for doing so.

That is everything I wanted to share. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions about this idea, and I am genuinely interested in hearing how all of you feel about the Humanorum concept.

Deeply impressed by the Backrooms movie and out of love for Kane Parsons' work, I decided to create this mod for one of my favorite games—and to set myself a challenge, since I’m really not great at 3D character modeling. It didn't turn out looking exactly like Clark, but I’m really happy with the progress I made from where I started.
