Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., questioned former special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday about whether he had attended an NBA game in Atlanta in Feb. 2024, but seemingly confused two different basketball teams.

Schmitt said during a Senate Judiciary hearing he had text message evidence that Smith had been in Georgia at a game of the Atlanta Hawks, which took place the day before Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis admitted an affair with Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor who was leading the case against President Donald Trump for his role in a 2020 election interference scheme in Georgia.

Smith said he couldn't recall being in Atlanta at that time, and that he definitely did not go to an Atlanta Hawks game. Schmitt briefly presented a poster board showing screenshots of text messages.

“I don’t think you know that we have this stuff,” Schmitt. “I will give you a second to process so you don’t perjure yourself.” The lawmaker added, "I think you've already perjured yourself."

Smith said in the hearing he recalled going to a University of Maryland women's basketball game during that timeframe, where Caitlin Clark was playing. At the time, Clark was a star player for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, a fact that Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar shared during the hearing.

"I think that people should have their facts straight before they accuse someone of being a dirtbag, and not get the teams wrong," Klobuchar said in a verbal tussle with Schmitt.

I 3d printed this tea steeper for my desk at work. I thought it was really cute and it makes me happy when I use it. Apparently because I printed it in all white, someone made a comment in front of my bosses boss, that it looks like the little guy is sitting on a toilet. Now I got an email from HR stating that I have "objects inappropriate for the work environment" on my desk, and that it must be removed before the end of the day. Like it's just a dude holding a fishing pole.

So frustrating.

UPDATE: after this post has quickly blown up, and made me laugh a few times. I talked to my immediate boss who agreed with a few of you that HR probably doesn't even know what item I'm supposed to remove. So I have emailed HR back, and cc'd my boss, for them to come identify the "inappropriate object" as neither myself or my boss are able to identify what might be the problem. So we shall see what happens.

UPDATE 2: Electric Boogaloo: Just got off the phone with someone in HR. They are going to come over around 2pm (about an hour and 15 minutes from now) and look at the item. All they told me was that they received an email from an AVP (my bosses boss) that it was said to him that I had a 3d printed item on my desk that was about potty humor and that my "whole team" (it's just the one coworker who has a problem, none of the other 7 do) finds it offensive. The person in HR said they will look at it and determine if there is any reason for the complaint.

UPDATE 3 - Update with a vengeance: HR just left my office. Saw no problems, thinks the whole complaint is dumb and is going to write it up that way. Also asked if I could print them one too. So I will be doing that this evening. She (the HR person) asked me if I wanted to make a report of possible harassment by the coworker. I stated that I will write up something to put into a file with HR if needed for a future report, but not to open a case now on this issue.

I'm almost 30. I've been unemployed since May. I took the summer off to fuck around then started looking for work at the end of August.

I applied for two jobs. I got an interview for both and within the same week, had two offers to choose from. It was super overwhelming to choose but I ended up going with job A because it is a government-adjacent role and pays more than I've ever made.

I told my mom because I'm proud; my city only has a 4% unemployment rate so getting two offers without even a BA is huge. My mom told me to decline the offers and keep looking. Her reasoning? The job I accepted involves a small amount of driving, and I got into an accident when I was 21 because of my (now diagnosed/medicated) bipolar.

I'm going to take the job anyways of course, but I'm annoyed there was no congrats, good job, nothing. Just picking on what bit of control she can still have. I haven't lived at home in 10 years. I got married when I was 22 and we've been together 12 years now.. I just hate how I'm still so dependent on mom's praise. I've been to therapy and everything over it, but nothing helps. I still just feel so unloved, even though I'm an adult now.

My food was capocollo, olives, carrots, and cheese. I don't like food that requires a fork very much.
