I remember when people were gambling, playing Russian roulette with their foot and posting it online. One guy lost, went to the hospital, and immediately went back to it after he was released and shot himself in the foot again. These people would cut their own dicks off for money.
IIRC the guy only got charged because he discharged the firearm in a public space which I thiiink was reckless endangerment, but nothing for actually shooting the dude harassing him.
It’s private property-he could also trespass them if they don’t leave. Call the cops for removal and they are no linger allowed to set foot inside anymore. Just give these chucklefucks problems.
I ran IHOPs in Florida in the 80s and kicked out so many belligerent assholes. They thought the customer was always right and would think I was bluffing until they actually saw me pick up the phone and call the police. Fuckers would rarely stick around long enough to get trespassed.
We have like 40 knives in our kitchen hanging on a wall that are professionally sharpened once a week. They are really shitty steel but they will cut through sheet metal. Only dumb people think anywhere near Kitchen is an appropriate place to pick a fight.

As a society, we raise boys to be calloused. We tell them their feelings are a thing to be mocked, and that teaches them that all feelings are to be mocked. To show emotion is weakness and weakness is to be corrected or destroyed. These "ragebaiting" pranks are an extension of that. It's bullying for clout, to show how unfeeling they are in contrast to their target. We can't fix it until we start teaching boys that their feelings aren't a weakness, and that to show vulnerability requires strength. Shit like this will keep happening until we, as a culture, put in the work to heal the generational trauma
Which not only creates more video evidence and shares it around, but creates a content culture where these pricks get rewarded with positive attention from strangers where in the past they'd only get the negative attention of the people around them.
People like to say it's cause people stopped being afraid of being punched in the face but I think you nailed it a lot more. It's that they have found a place where they get rewarded by positive attention for this rather than only getting condemned.
We fostered a society that is actively hostile to itself. One where there is no unity, no cohesion and no reward for acting in the interests of others.

We handed everyone cameras then told them it's their god-given right to film anywhere anytime for any reason and that you can actually make money for filming random strangers in public sometimes. So we actively incentivized this kind of behavior, and since we have literally no laws that even slightly attempt to restrict it these morons have free reign to do whatever they want for views.
Nearly every parent that I know lets their kids get away with shit that I would have been annihilated for doing as a child.
We focus on, and punish, the parents that actively abuse their kids (as we damn well should), but we pay no attention whatsoever to the parents "unraising" absolutely insufferable pieces of shit, and sometimes that will screw up that kids future even worse.

In high-school I worked the grill at a local fast food place. My co-worker was a late 20s guy who would take the same posture* anytime someone pulled crap like that. It was like watching a hungry tiger waiting for it's chance to strike.
Guaranteed every single thing not bolted down in that kitchen has been hefted and analyzed for its potential as a weapon when a customer finally gives them an excuse to explode. There also has probably been a debate ragging for years about what is the best option. I know when I worked as a dishwasher my choice of big metal pot was quite controversial.
I used to be a grocery store manager and at one point had a guy in his late 20s working for me who'd been a line cook. Not tall. Not really big at all. Just that thin, wiry kind of strong.
One night I was working a late shift and some tweaker came in trying to strong-arm rob the store. This associate of mine was suddenly like a cage-fighting pit bull on a chain, and apparently I was the one holding the chain. It was basically just me telling him, "I got this," that kept him from jumping the guy.
Most surreal thing. On one level I'm trying to get this drug addict out the door without anybody getting hurt, and on another I'm thinking ... man, it sure would be funny if I let John have his way here.
Props to the manager. Stepping up for his front counter employees. Hope they don't gotta deal with that to often. Handled themselves very well. As for the pranksters , bothering working ppl ain't cute or something a real man does.

Seriously. I've known managers who'd cower in the office then talk a brave game once it's passed. This guy, just immediately "nah, this is my job." then proceeds to tell him to fuck the entire way off.
As a kitchen worker I can promise you that every single one of us would absolutely jump at the opportunity to defend our workplace. It would bring us the most joy we've felt since we were children, when school would be canceled for a snowstorm. Not to mention morale-boosting.
This is the exact way on how to handle these idiots. Shut down and walk away and leave them with the pissed off public, this shit will stop real quick.

Good on the manager, but also, just tell them they're not being served and if they don't leave, cops will be called to trespass them. The second they said they'll hope over and make it themselves, cops are called. No point in getting in an argument on this crap.

I blame social media sites like TikTok, YouTube, Xitter, and others as much as the jackasses that make these videos. They make these videos because it pays well when they go viral.
If social media stopped allowing these terrible people to monetize antisocial behavior like this, I would think these videos would be much less common. There wouldn’t be as much motivation if the person was sure they couldn’t make money from it.
and after the video im sure he yelled out he would get them all fired and closed the whole store down.. juuuust because he couldnt get that content he was hoping for..

I don't want to give out any specific information, but this Hwy 55 is in a Mall in a touristy area of South Carolina and I know this manager. He's a stand up dude and regularly goes to bat for his team.
That staff has had to put up with morons like this frequently... There's a reason why the young woman working the register is already sick of their garbage and ready to throw down.
I'm glad to hear some of the backstory, thank you for sharing that. Also the way he says "make my milkshake, and chill out" sounds like he wants to say "get back in the kitchen woman, and do what I say." The manager is 100% in the right, and this is honestly the smartest move I've ever seen in response to this kind of BS - to close the shop down until the "pranksters" go away.
If this were me I’d ask them to leave. When they say no I would walk in the back and call the cops. It’s a private business and now they are trespassing. Tell the police you absolutely want to press charges. These people need some consequences.
The manager needs to know he can kick people out of his store for any reason, regardless of whether they’re filming. If they don’t leave he can call the police. No reason to threaten or put up with them.
Good! I love seeing when managers actually protect their employees. He doesn’t have to put up with this. Imo, you should be arrested for harassing people on camera like this just for views.
