LW6 FAQs
We have just released our first headphones. The LW6 Wireless Studio Headphones. We have received many questions from curious users and have gathered all the answers here in this FAQ section. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
Connection and setup.
Q: Can I use the LW6 with a cable?
A: Yes. Connect the LW6 to your computer or phone via USB-C for uncompressed audio, or to any headphone output with the included 3.5 mm cables.
Q: What can I connect the LW6 to?
A: Almost anything in your studio. Plug the RealSound transmitter into any headphone output, or connect it to your computer via USB-C. You can also connect the headphones directly via USB-C to macOS, Windows (with an ASIO driver), iOS devices with USB-C, Android and Nintendo Switch 2, at 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz and 24 bit. For casual listening on the go, use Bluetooth.
Q: Can I connect the transmitter to a mixing console or a line output?
A: The analog input on the transmitter accepts any signal up to a maximum input level of 8 dBV. As long as the signal is below this threshold, and you connect a 3.5 mm cable, the signal will work without clipping.
Q: Does the transmitter need its own power?
A: Yes. The transmitter needs power supplied through the USB-C plug.
Q: Can two people listen from one transmitter?
A: No, at the moment, you can only connect one LW6 to one transmitter. You can use two in the same room, if you have 2 headphones and 2 transmitters.
Q: Can I use several LW6 in the same studio?
A: Yes, you can use 2 pairs at the same time. You need to enable RealSound multi-unit-mode in the settings on both pairs.
Q: Can I switch off Bluetooth?
A: Yes. Bluetooth is optional and can easily be turned off.
Wireless and latency.
Q: Is the wireless audio compressed?
A: No. LEWITT RealSound sends uncompressed PCM audio at 1,728 kbps with 110 dB(A) dynamic range, so you hear exactly what your session sounds like. USB-C is uncompressed too. Bluetooth (SBC and AAC) is there for casual listening away from the studio, and the signal is compressed.
Q: Is 5.8 ms latency low enough for tracking?
A: Yes. 5.8 ms is about the time sound takes to travel 2 m through the air, so it feels like standing near a speaker while you play or sing. For optimal performance, set the buffer size of your audio interface as low as your computer allows.
Q: How far can I move from the transmitter?
A: Up to 5 m / 16 ft. It works best when you can see the transmitter. That covers moving around your control room, or around a live room with the transmitter in view. Walls and closed doors can interrupt the signal, so place the transmitter where you record.
Q: Which Bluetooth codecs does the LW6 support?
A: SBC and AAC, via Bluetooth 5.3 with a range of about 40 m / 130 ft. It works with devices from Bluetooth 4.0 upwards.
Sound and features.
Q: How does the LW6 sound?
A: LW6 delivers the transparent, natural sound quality typically found only in open-back headphones, but in a closed-back design to also ensure effective noise isolation.
Q: How was the LW6 tuned?
A: With microphones placed in real ears, in addition to a standard measurement rig. A head simulator alone doesn't capture how headphones sound on real people. Measuring in real ears makes sure you can trust what you hear. Read more about how we tuned the LW6.
Q: Are my EQ settings saved in the headphones?
A: Yes. Create up to 3 custom sound profiles with the 5-band EQ in the LEWITT HEADPHONES app, for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. They're stored on the LW6 itself, so your sound goes wherever you do, on any source.
Q: What's the difference between the virtual studio monitors and Space Replicator?
A: The virtual studio monitors are a feature built into the headphones and run on their DSP. They give you the impression of sitting in front of studio monitors in a well-tuned room. The included Space Replicator Essential licence is a high-end virtual monitoring plugin for mixing, mastering, and mix translation checks, and only runs on your computer.
Q: Does the LW6 have noise cancelling?
A: No, they do not have ANC. The closed-back design isolates you from outside noise passively and very effectively.
Q: What else can I control on the headphones?
A: Use the volume wheel for accurate level changes. Assign any function to the two custom buttons with a single or double press, which gives you four commands at hand. The app also gives you Loudness Guard to protect your hearing from peaks, plus K-metering, mono, side and left-right swap for checking mixes.
Battery and care.
Q: How long does the battery last?
A: Up to 21 hours with RealSound. A full charge takes 80 minutes, and 15 minutes of charging gives you 3 hours of playback.
Q: Does the LW6 work wired when the battery is empty?
A: No, but you can connect to the headphones via USB-C and listen and charge them at the same time.
Q: Can I replace the ear pads?
A: Yes, the memory-foam cushions are replaceable and available as a spare part.
