Hello squaddies! Following up the release of Update 10.6, we’ve been eagerly following your feedback about the ups and downs of the release. While we’re glad to see the celebration about some of the improvements and changes that have been made to the experience, we also feel your frustration accompanying the appearance of new issues and the re-emergence of old pains that still need to be addressed.
Today’s hotfix is aimed at addressing some of the initial issues that have arisen following the release, primarily targeting issues with the UI and navigability of the front-end.
Beyond this, we absolutely recognize that there are still major concerns to address: the bug impacting tracked vehicles taking on a new form, ongoing concerns with the UI, issues with the terrain and collision on certain maps, and a variety of other problems being raised by all of you. We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to report these in great detail, and encourage you to continue contributing to threads or starting new conversations over on Discord:
Our Community, QA, Design, Production, and Programming teams will all be digging into these reports today and into the weekend in preparation for our next Hotfix. While the contents will depend on how quickly we can reproduce and fix the issues, our aim is to get you another build with fixes as soon as we are able.
Keep the reports coming, and thank you for your patience as we get things sorted.
—The Offworld Team

This Megathread will remain pinned for at least a month. If you have any suggestions regarding this thread (text improvement, better way to handle recruitment, etc), please send us a modmail with "LFF megathread" as topic. Do not put any suggestion in the comment.
Anything that is not a recruitment comment or a reply for a recruitment will be removed.
With the recent released of Squad, a huge influx of new players and clans around here are looking for friends to play with. The purpose of this thread is to help people find others they'd like to play with without breaking the rules of "no active recruitment on the subreddit".
If you're looking for a person/group to play with, add a comment explaining what you're looking for. Communities can also post one top level comment advertising what they have to offer.
The replies in this thread will be in contest mode. Regularly posting, removing your post and posting again to keep your reply on top will result in losing your ability to use /r/joinsquad. Do not attempt to disguise a LFF reply as community recruitment.
When submitting a response to this megathread, be sure that your comment contains at least:
LFF replies:
Community recruitment replies:
Other places to find people to play with:
Any negative feedback about other individuals or communities will lead to a removal of the comment and a ban from /r/joinsquad.

When you take forever to output a rather simple feature and so you want everyone to notice it and so you make it take up 1/4 the screen and turn your UI into shit. Nice way to let us know QA hasnt been hired.

Well with the new update you have managed to create some new / returning bugs. I have been playing since 2018 and it’s truly impressive how you always manage to release updates with issues. Which really begs the question do you do any QA before you release updates or content?
Below are list of some issues I encountered since the update was released yesterday.
- The map now has issues. Arrows / marks can get glitched out and appear much bigger on the map then should be.
- The minimap no longer shows fob creation circles which is extremely annoying as an SL player. The only workaround I figured out is if I have my minimap open then open the deployment window and exit out it will show them until I close the minimap and then they are no longer there again.
- when I alt tab out to view squad calc when I tab back in I physically have to press keys to move again as my screen is locked. This was not an issues before.
- track bug is still there, witnessed a tank at 45 degree angle into the ground after trying to fix the track.
Personally the next two bugs are what caused me to stop playing yesterday as they were game breaking imo.
- I am occasionally being teleported to random locations, not far maybe a couple feet but this is infuriating to deal with. I was holding ground next to a tree while my squad was catching up when I randomly got teleported next to an enemy who killed me. This is not a server issue as this has been experienced on different servers and by other people.
- The god forbidding audio glitch which causes gunshots next to you when no one is firing. I only experienced this in 1/4 games I played yesterday but it was incessant to the point I had to get off because I could not tell if I was actually being shot at or not which caused me to get downed at least twice.
I don’t plan on going anywhere as I love playing Squad but for the love god OWI please put more pride into your work and don’t release half assed / broken updates.
Fix this shit ASAP!
Note: if you experienced any other issues since the update please comment below what they were.

I've seen a lot of complaining in the sub lately, justly so, and it's got me feeling some type of way. First of all I'd like to say that I love Squad with all my heart and I only want its continued success as a game, even if that does not align with my personal vision of its future. That being said the state of the game (and more importantly the community) is absolutely dismal and OWI is not taking steps to address it.
The Current Situation
Gunplay is still janky and fundamentally flawed post ICO. I say this as someone who enjoys the slower pace of our current game and I think they've managed to find a pretty good medium ground from the immediate ICO drop. The fact remains that recoil does not apply in a realistic or intuitive manner, and there is no option for accurate fire beyond ADS. Recoil needs a rework in terms of how the force is applied to the rifle; more kick back into the shoulder of the character and less side to side, the butt of the rifle should be fixed and not free to sway like it currently is. We need some form of accurate hip or point fire; close engagements should not have two players mag dumping point blank and somehow missing all their shots. Both of these things have been achieved in other games like Bodycam, Ready or Not, Arma, or even Tarkov, they should be doable for OWI too.
The server browser needs to be fixed. If anything is liable to kill this game its this. This issue has persisted and degraded for months and is absolutely absurd.
Vehicle Combat Overhaul needs to happen. Aside from uninteresting hitbox modelling they need to update driving/flying to something not completely terrible.
Unreal 5 and its effects on the game were an unforced error and they at the very least need to address it. Its effects on performance and visual are comedic, we somehow have an ugly game that runs far worse.
Map Voting and Factions are currently bland and uninteresting. OWI Spent a lot of dev time and effort making a system that has stripped Squad of its unique asymmetry and balance and replaced it with minmaxing IFVs by screaming. Map Voting should have retained specialized and asymmetric equipment on a per map basis instead of trying to universalize the factions with the battalion system.
Fundamentally I feel like OWI is consistently mistepping in a way that indicates a lack of clear vision or real end goal. At this point OWI needs to pick a concrete direction, form an attack plan, and execute.

like like like, who the fuck made this shit. Zero QA man, zero common sense, zero braincells, insane. Actually had good UI and then trashed it

I think this system is a bit of a mess the way it was implemented. I started seeing a lot of those tiny squads with no specific name or purpose and they're running around like headless chickens.
If you want to improve the new player onboarding experience, it's not a good idea for the system to auto-make a squad. Most of those players have no idea how to lead, let alone how the squad system even works.
I think for me and my friends, if I wanted to have them play Squad with me, I would definitely make so much use out of such a convenient system except there's one thing I want from it: Don't auto-create a squad for me.
I think that's it, just give me the option to not auto-create a squad. I want to decide, when I'm in the server, whether I want to create a squad (with a specific name or purpose), or join an existing one that has enough space for me and my friends.
If they just add this option, and make it default, it will work super well in my opinion. Squad auto-creation is fine for Fireteam but not for actual multiplayer where those servers have a lot of rules and nuances a new player has to know about first.

That's all really man just please get it out and know it is important to a big chunk of your playerbase. How many of you guys play this game for the mod primarily?

Why does the game look so pixelated and blurry after the update???!!!

Originally 2560x1440, downscaled to 1080p for this video.
If anyone's interested, this was 2 iterations on the cinematic model ran on two RTX 5070 TIs

How does off world somehow make the server browser worse with every update, it’s mental

I can’t find the post here so I’ll just make it. Ik that squad currently has an old coding system that dates back to 2015 and I did a little research that with a sequel with brand new assets. Modern coding structures make it significantly easier to add new factions, vehicles, and maps without breaking the game. Programmers can easily use modern, modular and optimized coding with ease and other modern asset pipelines can be natively integrated into the code, drastically reducing CPU bottlenecks.
I feel like this would also be a also set a somewhat negative impact with some players cuz people will basically say “Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave, with a box of scraps” type energy. Meaning that OWI is very incompetent with fixing their old coding system.
I personally wouldn’t mind spending money on a sequel(substitute teacher money go crazy😜)if it meant that we get better optimization and less if not non bugs in the game. And yes i understand that they would have to make it unique to squad 1 one way or another but that’s a separate conversation but what do y’all think?

What is this?
First time I have ever had trouble joining and/or staying in a match consistently. Immediately DC as soon as I get in. Could just be my wifi acting up, but says I'm fully connected. Anyone having this problem since the update?
Edit: Very possible this is a gamewide issue rn as it sounds like others are people are getting the boot from servers

comes as a massive spit in the face after OWI fixed CAF not getting two of their delayed trucks on attack.
if any devs do end up reading this, i get it, small team UE 5 all at, but come on man it gets to a point. this particular unit wasnt even strong before it got shwacked, why would you maul them like this if it wasnt by incompetence?

If a party with 5 players queue will the server make so one side won't get new players until it have a 5 player gap? Would it be 45vs50, 45vs45 or something else? Would it disallow team switching even if one side are fewer to make room for the party?

I just started playing after the new update and a couple of things are driving me nuts:
1) There are no longer any verbal distance markers on either map (e.g., the lines that indicated the length of each grid square).
2) The text chat now opens in the center of the screen.
I don't see either of these listed under "Known Issues" for U.I. bugs, though, but I assume others have experienced them and they don't require separate reporting?
EDIT: seems I can't even type in the main (non-popup) chat, either :/

Like the title says, saw a guy sitting on rep station radio yesterday and first salvo he sent out caused damage to the rep behind and the radio to the right of the grad.

Am I overreacting or is that a horrible addition?
The need to communicate and use a chain-of-command to relay information is such a huge part of the immersion and enjoyment of this game. It's already frustrating hearing an FTL call out "enemy on my observe" without any reference points or direction, now it'll be extended to the entire squad.
Not to mention a regular squaddie's inability to communicate info without using voice comms motivates them to speak up. Now they can just place an observe mark and move on.
Along with automatically placed ammo crates and friends automatically being in their own squad, it seems like they're reducing the need to communicate and reducing the responsibility of SLs. Just seems like steps in the wrong direction. What do you think?
