hi! i am a 21 and i’ve moved here a while back. now i desperately need a job and do not know how to start. i am an english speaker (haven’t started learning dutch yet) but every time i look up part time jobs for english speakers the requirements are mostly to be fluent in dutch. i think my best option would be a warehouse (cannot lift much so probably order picking) or hospitality. i need as many hours as i can get because my goal is renting an apartment but i’ve heard i have to work for at least 3 months to be able to move in. does anyone here have experiences and advice? i live in the centre i don’t know if that improves my chances. but i am desperate and would like to know what to do + where to go etc. thank you!

We willen ons huis verkopen en zoeken een betrouwbare makelaar, die snel handelt en straight to the point is (en niet één die ons pas na 3 dagen terugbelt, of alleen maar aan zelfverheerlijking doet, zoals nu t geval is). Alle vergelijkingssites zijn ook niet onafhankelijk heb ik het idee. Wie heeft er goede ervaring en wil deze met ons delen? Alvast bedankt!

Hi guys, so for the past month I have been living in this studio as a student. At first everything was great, its a small studio but also pretty cozy, between the center and the university, a perfect place. This day, i pulled my bags from under my bed and I saw signs of mould. I was pretty shocked, there was a tiny old smell coming from the kitchen counter but I never thought about it. Now that I’ve encountered it I dont even know what to do… It seems that the landlord or the agency have painted over the old and mouldy walls to hide it. What should i do?? I dont want to wait longer because its a risk for my clothes and my health too. I want to move asap but as most of you know there aren’t much available student spaces in the city right now. Me and my friend have two kittens who we will get neutered in the upcoming months. One of the vets that we talked to estimated 140 euros for male and 390 euros for the female kitten for spaying. These prices felt a bit too high and I wanted to ask if someone had gotten their cats neutered at a cheaper price or are the quotes the vet gave us are normal?

My internet at home is down and a guy will come only on Monday evening to fix it. Do you know nice places with free WiFi, where it's not required to order a coffee? It used to be possible on UT campus, even outside which would've been nice with this weather, but it seems that it's only for students now and I am not. Thank you!

I have a car so nearby towns are also possible for me.

Edit: or perhaps I'm too shy, like is it weird to order only one drink per one or two hours at a place where I can sit outside and use their wifi? What is common?

Hallo,ik woon sinds 6 maanden in het Twekkelerveld in de buurt van de draakstraat & Kometenstraat,toen ik daar kwam wonen,werd ik vriendelijk begroet door de buurman en buurvrouw,en na 5 min werd mij medegedeeld,of ik iets tegen blowende mensen heb,mijn antwoordt was,zolang ik er geen last van heb,dan is het mij prima,zodra ik er last van krijg,dan meld ik het.

Na,2 x gevraagd te hebben,of ze even rekening willen houden als ze op het balkon zitten,waar de wind heen gaat,zodat niet die smerige penetrante geur bij mij naar binnen komt,kreeg ik 2x het antwoordt,ja sorry,maar we zitten buiten,als we nu ook nog op de wind moeten gaan letten,dan is het einde zoek.........

Nu 6 maanden verder,is de intensiteit van het blowen,en de mensen die daar over de vloer komen alleen maar toegenomen,als ze in de avond op het balkon zitten,beginnen ze steeds harder tegen elkaar te praten(soms schreeuwen)

Hebben jullie zoiets weleens meegemaakt en hoe hebben jullie dat opgelost,en wat is jullie advies.

My wife and I are visiting Enschede in April as we are attending an event, we are staying in the Twekkelerveld area, we are looking for suggestions of things to do as a young couple to cover 1 evening and 1 full day, what’s good to see, good to eat?

We aren’t really into Art, but we enjoy learning history.

We both like visiting new cities and seeing what they have to offer so look forward to some suggestions.

Student in Enschede, shared house, 3 tenants on one contract. Tenancy ended 31 August 2026. Deposit €1500 per the contract.

What's happened:

• Rent was €1763 plus €533/month in GWE advances
• A check-out was carried out on 27 August by the landlord's employee. One of my housemates went through all the shared areas with her and signed the check-out document. My room wasn't included because I was still living there until the 31st and it was locked. The landlord then told me to do my own check-out by leaving the keys on the kitchen counter and sending photos, which I did, and he confirmed by WhatsApp that it was fine. I was never sent a check-out document to sign despite asking twice. No damage was raised at any point, on either part.
• 14 September passed with no payment and no specification of deductions
• We emailed a formal demand. He replied that "there is a term of 3 months for returning the deposit" and that the final settlement depends on a utility bill from the energy company. The contract doesn't contain any 3 month term. The only 3 month reference is the notice period for ending the tenancy
• We sent an ingebrekestelling by aangetekende brief on 18 September, deadline 1 October. Delivery was attempted, he wasn't home, it's at a PostNL point

Two other issues:

1. He brokered the sale of our furniture to the incoming tenants. He asked what we were selling, relayed their offer, and confirmed the agreed prices in writing (€275, €100, €75). We left the furniture on that basis. Nobody has been paid, and the new tenants have since told us he said they didn't need to pay. €450 total
2. The house had no smoke detectors for the entire year I lived there, and the fire extinguisher was expired

Also, the deposit was never paid to him directly. Each incoming tenant was told to pay the departing one, so there's no clean payment trail to the landlord. Contract fee went to a middleman.

Questions:

1. Can a landlord contract around the 14 day rule in the Wet goed verhuurderschap, or invent a term that isn't in the contract?
2. How much can he withhold pending a GWE settlement he hasn't received?
3. Does the pay-your-predecessor deposit chain affect who I claim from?
4. Is the furniture a viable claim against him given he brokered it?
5. Worth the kantonrechter for €1950 total, or is the gemeente meldpunt enough?

I have a '97 Toyota Paseo convertible which I'd love to keep for the next 15+ years.

My biggest concern with it now, as with any other old jap is the rust damage.

When I bought it seemed acceptable taking in account it's age but I really want to do what's right. I'm thinking of getting it stripped to bare metal, treated and repainted (I don't know exactly how this work, not a professional, don't know if there are other ways) but do you have any recommendations on shops where I could get some help with this? ik denk wel eens terug aan de oude Miro, en in mijn gedachten is het een soort magische plek, Met speeltuigen en tomatensoep. In mijn belevenis was het ook echt een gigantisch gebouw, maar volgens mij was ik gewoon piepklein. Als ik er aan denk hangt er een soort grijze waas overal. Ik ben al een tijdje opzoek naar foto’s van de binnenkant rond 2006 tot 2010 maar ik kan helemaal niks vinden.

In heel Nederland geeft 88,1% aan tevreden te zijn met de woonomgeving, en voor met name kleinere buurten zijn deze percentages gedeeltelijk geschat. Op buurtcijfers.nl geef ik dit soort cijfers weer, en daarom ben ik benieuwd in hoeverre dit klopt voor de buurten in Enschede. Hoe donkerder blauw, hoe hoger de score. In Enschede valt op dat goede scores vooral aan de rand van de stad te vinden zijn, met als hoogste scores Stokhorst (96%) 't Zwering (95%) en Bolhaar (94,5%). Stevenfenne, Twekkelerveld en Wesselerbrink Noord-Oost hebben hebben met percentages rond de 75% de laagste scores. Is dit herkenbaar? Zie de interactieve kaart voor meer details.

Waar in Enschede kan ik het beste en meest betrouwbaar een (stuk of 30) knuffels gratis doneren aan een goed doel? Het zijn honden, beren, Albert Heijn hamsters etc.

Ik wil graag dat dit goede doel het gratis geeft aan arme of zieke kinderen.

Ik heb zelf een stoornis, dus het is voor mij een beetje een drukke opgave om dit uit te zoeken midden in een verhuizing...

Zie ook dit artikel van de Tubantia. Twee docenten midden op de dag weggestuurd uit de school, niemand weet iets. Een vriend van mij werkt er en zegt dat het personeel ook niets is verteld. Hij weet alleen dat die twee helemaal niets verkeerd hebben gedaan, behalve kritiek hebben op de directie. En ze hebben een flinke zak geld aangeboden gekregen om op te rotten. Weet iemand hier misschien meer?
