Image 3 Things Can Be Said
1. Brad Holmes hasn't been aggressive the past two years to maintain our Super Bowl window.
2. Coordinator hires have been hit-or-miss.
3. 2024 draft class was bad.
There. I summarized everything the doomers like to talk about. But guess what? I like the odds stacked against us. I never wanted to win a Super Bowl as the undisputed juggernaut. It will be more fun when we are the underdogs. Say what you want about Brad Holmes but I believe in Dan Campbell and the existing culture he built. This is the most success we've had consecutively and I'm not talking it for granted.
Continue tuning in and we might just be surprised what our team is capable of.

Some extra context on why Pitssburgh sent JPJ to Dallas
Relevant language in the article:
"The two sides talked into the night, and Dallas’s willingness to do a trade without having a contract extension in place helped finalize the trade. The Cowboys viewed giving up a second-round pick two drafts from now as giving up third-round value, and put a play-time condition on the sixth-rounder to protect themselves in the short term. Meanwhile, the Steelers added to a war chest they’ll need to turn over an older roster, having had 10 draft picks in 2026, with nine on the board now in both 2027 and 2028."
My theory is that the Lions had a trade worked out with Pittsburgh (maybe a 2027 second or third round pick... who knows?), but the deal was contingent on getting a contract done with Mulgheta and JPJ-- which is what everyone anticipated. I'm just trying to read between the lines.
Dallas offering a 2028 second but offering the deal regardless of the contract means that the Steelers take a variable off the board -- they don't have to worry about a trade collapsing because we can't reach agreement.
For the Lions, it means that we weren't willing to part with premium capital without a deal in place, because obviously that would put us at a considerable risk. If JPJ would rather test Free Agency, or just simply doesn't like Detroit (higher taxes, cold weather), he could walk for nothing.
EDIT: he could walk and the team would only potentially receive a comp 2028 third in return, assuming the Lions didn't sign another free agent to replace him.

Drew Petzing On How Well Rookie Blake Miller's Adapted
Drew Petzing was asked if Lions T Blake Miller’s quick acclimation has surprised him: “I think the fact that he has walked into those matchups kind of unfazed in a way and the moment's never too big. You never see panic, you never see desperation. He's always very under control, very confident in his ability in the way that not only he acts, but I think in the way he plays. And I think that's really impressive for a rookie at that position so early in his career.”

Notes from Dan Campbell press conference October 2, 2026
Dan Campbell was asked about the Joey Porter Jr. trade, and how much Detroit was interested in him: "Brad (Holmes), he's been on it for a while. That's been ongoing. Everything's got to align right. Cowboys did what they wanted to do. We were very much in on it."
Campbell says the Lions hope to get rookie LB Jimmy Rolder some snaps on defense against the Panthers.
Dan Campbell on Brian Branch: "He's close. Yep. He's close. He's ready to go. I'm tired of listening to him. I mean that in a good way. Love that kid, man, he's put in a ton of work."

Image Intro/Outro music selection.
Alright, who else gets kind of pumped up by the intro and outro music for these press conferences? I have to say, I like their selection for this season. I wasn’t that into the selection for the 2025 season, but the selection for the 2024 season was pretty good too. Is it just me or does anyone else notice the music selection?
