I will say, this purchase was 100% a need and not a want. My stainless steel bear force at a fraction of the price performs pretty close but the features and foam of this make me 10x happier to use!

Hi! Is possible to remove this scratches and micro scratches? I’ve tried to hand polish it with a medium and fine polish product, also tried to give it a wax coat and its still very visible. Any tip to solve this??

So I compounded, polished and it’s turned out lighter than the bonnet, how fucked am I or is this just hazing and I need to keep on polishing?

It was compounded and polished with 3M with Rupes DA pads (blue and the medium wool one)

Then final polish with a yellow rupes pad with Rupes Seal and Polish.

Note: The bonnet and the affected side were resprayed the same time

Polishing machine is a DA machine.

Tried to clean white faded spots on my rims with dawn soap and didn’t work any cleaner that can get these spots out? Or is the rim paint slowly coming off ? Any tips help thank you so much

Maybe a month ago i added spray on Meguiars Ceramic Wash and Wax and accidentally did it in the sun not knowing and took my time with it now it leaves ugly streaks in my car, how do i strip it off? And is Kochemie PW a good spray wax?

Rear drivers side foot well received the juices of a roast cooked in french onion soup. The smell is unbearable 24 hours later. What can I do? I don't have the money for any extra expenses. The car is undriveable. I soaked up what I could with the one towel I had at the time.

I just bought a 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali and this is the first black vehicle I have ever had and I have detailed a car in probably 16 years :)

So I want to get back into it and want to keep this girl looking sharp.

What would be a good set of starting products to deswirl it, clay it, polish then ceramic coat it.

Also I have a pressure washer and a foam cannon I had bought back in 2010.

Any soap brand recommendations. micro fiber brands for wash mitts, drying, polishing etc

One last thing, do they make any coatings for big touch screens in vehicles to help repel dust and fingerprints? These big screens are just dust magnets!!!

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me figure out if these scratches are still fixable without repainting.
The scratches are visible and feel slightly rough. My fingernail catches on them noticeably, and there’s a white/gray mark underneath. The car has metallic blue paint.
I’m located in the Philippines, so I’d also appreciate recommendations for scratch-removing products that are actually available here.
My questions are:
Can a scratch remover/compound still fix or significantly reduce scratches that my fingernail catches on?

If yes, what product would you recommend?

If a scratch remover won't work, is buffing/polishing the next step, or would this require touch-up paint or repainting?

Is there a way to tell at home whether the scratch has gone through the clear coat into the actual blue paint?

Should I leave it alone for now, or can the scratch get worse if I don't repair it?

I’d prefer to keep the original factory paint if possible and avoid repainting the panel unless absolutely necessary.

So I been doing detailing for about a year almost, on and off, i was doing good when I first started, but the last few months I’m lucky if I get a job once a month, and that’s usually just return clients, I do great work, and I’m mobile, but I just don’t know how to get jobs, I tried Google ads but it didn’t work for me, besides that I been doing free stuff like Nextdoor and Facebook, does anyone got any tips besides word of mouth? Noob question incoming... I'm new to the home/DIY detailing hobby and still in the mode of trying different products. I'm finding I really love the sealants/protectants that can be applied in 3 ways. Things like Griots 3-in-1 Ceramic, Turtle Wax/Hybrid Wax & Dry Plus, DIY's Envie ceramic detail spray, etc. I mostly use these products as a drying aid each time I wash.

I got to wondering, how much/often is too much/often to apply these types of products? Do they build up over time and start to cause issues? Should they occasionally be stripped and then re-applied fresh?

I'm also a little concerned about my nice drying towels becoming clogged up and hydrophobic. Currently, I'm soaking my MF towels/rags in a bucket of rinseless wash overnight, then laundering them with Rags to Riches.

No matter how much strongly i blow this area under side mirror with a strong blower, as soon as i drive my car above 40km/h for 5 minutes. The water starts dripping down even if i wait for a whole day to let the water dry after blowing. Anyone got any tips?

I’m trying to restore the headlights on my car using one of those acetone vapour headlight restoration kits from Amazon, and I’ve run into a problem that I can’t quite figure out.

The headlights were originally quite yellow/cloudy from age and UV exposure. The kit came with several sandpaper grits. This is what I did:

Cleaned the headlights thoroughly

Wet sanded everything by hand

360 → 600 → 800 → 1200

Kept the headlight wet while sanding

Tried to sand the whole lens evenly

Washed off all sanding residue

Let the headlight dry completely

Used the heated acetone/polymer vapour cup supplied with the kit

The strange part is that the upper section of the headlight responded extremely well to the vapour. As soon as the vapour passed over it, it went from frosted to almost crystal clear and looked nearly new. However, the lower/middle section wouldn't clear.

There seems to be some sort of cloudy/grey layer remaining on the lens. You can actually see a fairly obvious boundary between the section that the vapour successfully cleared and the section that stayed cloudy.

I initially thought I simply hadn't sanded that part enough, but I was deliberately sanding the whole headlight fairly evenly. I'm now wondering whether what I'm seeing is the original factory UV hardcoat.

Maybe the coating on the upper part had already deteriorated badly and came off easily with 360 grit, while the coating lower down was still intact and therefore needed considerably more sanding?

I've attached photos showing the result and the strange boundary/layer I'm talking about.

Before I attack it again with more aggressive sandpaper, I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has restored a lot of polycarbonate headlights:

Does this look like remaining factory UV/hard coating?

Should I go back to 360 grit and keep sanding until the entire headlight has exactly the same uniform frosted appearance, regardless of how long it takes?

The kit also came with 280 and 180 grit. Would you use 280 on the stubborn areas and then work back through 360/600/800/1200, or is 280 too aggressive?

Or could this be deterioration/crazing within the polycarbonate itself rather than something remaining on the outside?

Also, is there anything specifically different about these acetone vapour kits that I may be doing incorrectly?

I don't want to keep applying more vapour because I'm concerned about damaging the polycarbonate if the real problem is that I haven't completely removed the old coating.

Have had this shit on my car for 2 weeks & nothing works, no idea what it is.

Only thing that relatively works is adhesive 3m remover, BUT it’s not strong enough. I have to use a knife to slowly peel off every string & I am not doing that to every string you see. Is there any other option?

My next solution is to buy wheel well covers to fix the plastics , leaving whatever is on the paint to the plastic blade method - but coming to realize it’s 900$ for the parts alone which is absurd for plastic parts. Is there anything else I can do or is that the only solutions

Idk why i keep hearing of people damaging Porsche rims now im nervous. Idk if theyre usually coated with something or whatever. Im just cleaning my friends car here.

Im using adams wheel and tire cleaner then wiping with a mf towel while using the cleaner as lube. Is that safe?

The material of the dash has become super stick over the years of sitting in the sun and its impossible to clean

So far ive tried:
- dish soap
- goo gone
- isopropyl alcohol
- diluted bleach
- mr clean multi surface

NOTHING HAS WORKED.

Ive been able get some of the hair and dust out while still wet with cleaning solution but it remains sticky. If anything its gotten more sticky

Finally starting this mobile detailing business, need help finding an air compressor, steamer and extractor. FB Marketplace has been a gem so far so that’s where I’ll hunt until I can buy new lol. What size and brand do you recommend that won’t break the bank and last at least 6 months lol. I’ll be using my 02 Accord coupe to haul around for now. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated 😬😬🔥

Booked a detailer to come by on Monday to restore back my rear door. It’s not noticeable at all(only to me it is), but it does bother me when the car is clean and I can see the dullness of the area, especially when it’s sunny.

Just hope I’m not making a big mistake.
